1. Danny has a huge amount of vids on youtube. Great bloke. Knows his stuff. Lives in Japan. And he's a monster player.
2.
That's Will Lee playing bass
Are you sure its Will Lee.? On "Walk Between the Raindrops", they combined bass parts playing on a keyboard bass and bass guitar. Doubling bass lines would "become common practice on many records ,"
3. There was a bass on here many moons ago (sorry) that was once owned by Randy HOPE Taylor. It was not a Jazz bass style. it was a natural wood bass. a bit like an Ibanez. I'm sure the wood had a Walnut top with an ebony fingerboard. Anyone know where this bass is.?. Anyone know where this bass is. ?
4. Seems I've strayed a little. Im not sure if Donald played this synth bass line. But it is just superb in every way. wonderful music.
5.
we had missed the show in 74 because they cancelled. and we waited another 20 odd years to get the opportunity to see what was one of my favorite bands of all time. I went up with a bunch of friends/musicians and sat at the side of the hall towards the back. The sound was awfull and made worse because we got a sound reflection off the back wall about a second after we heard it the first time. Considering they were so particular and achieved such clarity and quality in their recordings we were hoping for a good live sound which we just didnt get. Although it didnt really bother me, in that 20 odd years they had become far more jazzy/ if thats the right word, Walter played guitar, I cant remember if there was a second guitar, but we were hoping for some of those biting solos from the earlier albums, but it sounded more like jazz noodling to me than reelin in the years It was extremely disappointing, and I guess we had built our expectations up to a level that would have been difficult to achieve. .
This will in no way make up for your disappointment. But i hope a little joy comes from this classic from Alive In America. The album is amazing. so much groove. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TqKC38A8QjI

7. I've got a feeling this is my old RV5.
8.
You and me, and the 6 guys with me all left early, bitterly disappointed, promising to shoot the sound man if we ever found out who he was.
Wow, i would be so disappointed if i went to see SD and it wasn't the amazing Steely dan. I assume it was a back of the house problem.?
9.
Hey guys, if I was going to clean my Speesy what would I use for the body? Elbow grease? It's a gloss finish.
There is a special polish to use with a certain cloth for polyester finishes. I presume thats what the finish is.?
10. There is no other reason to post this apart from the fact its Steely Dan and its a f***ing awesome record. Oh and Jeff Baxter and his amazing guitar playing. He just makes this record for me.
11.
Yes, that Bass line is a good one from Harian. Also, a great set of chord changes on 'Good Stuff'. 'Phonus Quaver' is another name he used somewhere. I found that quite amusing as well.
What must go through his mind with the stories and character's he thinks up.! One of the most creative musicians alive. Tis why I've always love Dan.
12.
There was a time when this would have ticked all the boxes for me.
I still like it. Even more, leave it the sun for a year. Lovely jubly
13. Some nice Elwood,s for sale at Bass Direct. I dig the jazz with the Zaricote top. http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/MARUSZCZYK_INSTRUMENTS.html
14. Imo there is no excuse for neck dive on an instrument. It shouldn't be designed that way and shouldn't be sold. Especially from Warwick. I played a black Corvette $$ 5 with a Wenge neck years ago. I was literally struggling to keep the neck up while playing. Awful. Why they put such heavy necks on such small bodies is baffling.
15.
So are you saying that Ronnie & Muff have played this particular bass?
Im sure he meant/said this model. Not this actual bass
16.
I don't understand then - why not sell it to some who wants this and then spend the money on the bass you actually want? Seems if you did that, then the buyer of this bass ends up happy because they get the bass they want (whether you want theirs or not), and you are happy because you get the bass you want (whether that seller wants yours or not).
Sorry that doesn't make any sense. I don't mean to be rude, but could people just PM me, instead of commenting on my thread in public. Thanks.😉
17. Are you on Mac or PC.? I've got Live Lite and getting to know it. Very cool stuff on it.
18. Cool I've been looking for something like this. Will download later
19. horrible company. Round our way we call them Crack Converter's.. Many a smack head visits it.
20. These Squire 77's are superb Jazz Basses. This won't last long. They look so frickin cool. !!!
21. Why on earth would you want to spend that sort of money on a Fender. ?? There are so many companies that do it so much better. Don't get sucked into the Fender Vintage (its amazing because its old) thing. I'm sure it MIGHT be. but for that sort of money Alleva Coppolo, Sadowsky, Moon, Nordstrand, etc etc do it sooooo much better. Ive played a 63 Fender and it was really great. Ive played an Alleva Copplo and it was just as great. On the other side, Ive played a Harley Benton with an East preamp, was also great. Its not £3000 difference
22. yep this is the funk. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbGMIfCdrdk&list=PLUaelUnfaBtQ3Tn7qHOo9ZRAfyptuj_ro&index=8
23. Ive been listening to this album for a long time, but didn't realise Donald was playing the bass synth on this record under the name of Harian Post. Why.? I'm not sure. But what a bass line.!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=feBV-d4X8Cw&list=PLUaelUnfaBtQ3Tn7qHOo9ZRAfyptuj_ro&index=7
