Listening to it takes me on an emotional roller coaster, so much so that I have to choose the right time to play it. There have been times when I have to take it off the turntable 5 minutes in. There is no other album that resonates with me at such a deep emotional level. Indeed its very well produced and a sonic masterpiece IMO. It therefore demands to be played on a decent system. The standard earbud set up will not cut the mustard in latching on to all that this album has to offer.

Listened to this tonight. It has been a while, but what an album. Terrific musicianship, song writing and superb vocal performance. It is my desert island disc without question. This has got to be one of the best debut albums of all time IMO. . Listening to this tonight on vinyl using a decent Turntable. Shockingly good and very moving. Sad that such a magical performer was taken so young.

I am sure you will be delighted with your bass. The Roadie 11 that used to have was a beauty.

Blues guitar players will come and go. Many play the blues because they want to, but there are some who play the blues because they have to. Rory was a member of the 'have to' club and right at the top of it.

Purchased a Roadie active II in 1985. Superb bass. I preferred it over the Supernatural series. Gigged it regularly for many years and never let me down. The weight of the bass in the end forced me to move it on.

Roger Sadosky offers a choice between an 18mm an 19mm bridge on his NYC 4 strings. -
Best of luck to the OP. I finished playing myself after 40 years of being a weekend warrior and am very happy to have made the decision to stop playing.

Twas 33 years ago - RIP Phil Lynott

I am not a U2 fan by any means but Bono nailed it. "If lyrical and musical ability has to be matched with showmanship, attitude, style, if that’s your version of rock’n’roll, there’s no way past Phil Lynott. He’s at the top of the tree.” -

Not A Word About The Queen Movie Bohemian Rhapsody?

I am not a big Queen fan, though love their first album and full marks for their live aid performance. However, to put it mildly, I was underwhelmed by the movie. -
Not A Word About The Queen Movie Bohemian Rhapsody?
leroydiamond replied to Bluewine's topic in General Discussion
For me the movie was disapointing. It seems that there was more of an emphasis on making sure the band members would win first prize at a look a like contest, than on performance acting which was poor IMO, Malik's performance just lacked conviction and he looked like he was sucking on marbles in his attempt to replicate Mercury's gob. Why bother recreating the live aid performance?.It was nothing more than an effort at high end mimicry IMO. The real thing is on youtube for all to see. The movie needed a skilled actor to grab it by the scruff of the neck and get it over the line and unfortanately Malik was not the man IMO. Just my 2 cents worth. -
Great playing and great band.

Some years ago I purchased a B stock bass amp from Muziker. Plugged it in and nothing. I contacted them, they asked me to return the amp and sent me a brand new one at no extra charge. Highly recommended.

I've Been Playing Bass For 50 Years, So What?
leroydiamond replied to Bluewine's topic in General Discussion
Just recently quit playing after 40 years of regular gigging. Thought I would miss it big time, but not a bit. Free weekends are a god send and now I can plan a few weeks holidays in the sun without looking for a stand in. When I go to see a band now, I haven't the least interest in the bass players technique , gear, blah blah. I am just a regular punter and find this pretty liberating and enjoyable. The local gig scene has really gone downhill in recent years. A plethora of bands with fewer places to gig resulting in really poor conditions for bands. Money was never my motivator, but I could get better paid 25 years ago than what I can today for a gig, so out of principlei am not interested. My only option for gigs now would be a function/wedding band (if one would have me), but I have avoided that scene for 40 years and have no plans to take it up now. There is life after gigging and in my case its a pretty good one. -

Was doing a gig when this youg lady, at least 30 years younger than me started to heckle. I informed her that I was wearing the latest Lynx deodorant and would she like to get closer to the stage for a whif. She duly did and immediately roared into the mic "it smells more like old spice to me"
