Basses In/Basses Out 2014 - And What You've Learned......
leroydiamond replied to spongebob's topic in General Discussion
Sold a Jaydee Roadie I purchased new in 1985, a Yamaha BB1100s fretless and also a Fender Custom shop custom classic. All beautiful basses, but a tad heavy for my shoulder that has had 35 years of gigging. I did not purchase anything as my Sadowsky nyc and pre cbs Fender jazz cover everything for me and are really light weight. -
Roger Sadowsky. Behind the Notes Documentary.

A nice documentary. I have a Sadowsky NYC J bass. A lovely instrument but really expensive on this side of the pond due to duty and taxes. They represent excellent value second hand though. -
So sad to hear this news. R.I.P.
The gear never shows up which leaves me to conclude they are either selling it in Ireland or shipping to one of the few countries that use 230-240v such as Bulgaria.
No doubt an accurate conclusion
Most likely on its way to Ireland as we speak.
How are you so sure?
Don't they also do a 30 day return, although I couldn't find how much it was to send something back
Yes they do a 30 day return. I have returned a couple of micro amps to them. It was just a case of printing off a returns slip, dropping them at my local post office and I was charged 15 Euro (I live in Ireland) each time I shipped a unit. Once Thomann received the shipment I was fully reimbursed for the cost of the unit. I was out of pocket 15 Euro which is fine by me. A word of warning though, as the unit must be returned in pristine condition with all original packing, otherwise their may be trouble getting a full reimbursement. Not sure on the cost of shipping back a guitar but if you shoot off an email to Thomann they normally respond quite quickly

I recently took delivery of a Kustom KXB500. My intention was to use it as a back up. This amp has had a lot of praise on TB. I have used the CN212 with a variety of micros (Markbass f500, TH500, Puma 900) and the KXB500 is the pick of the crop IMO and cheap as chips. It is simply amazing value. it is now my go to amp.

Owning a bass thats never gets played.
leroydiamond replied to paulbass's topic in General Discussion
I had a bunch of basses lying around and sold them last year. My favourite was a Jaydee roadie that I bought in the early 80's. However I knew that I would never gig it again as it is too heavy for my ancient shoulder, so moved it on. No regrets. -
Was just making a statement as I do prefer the sound.... of the TC... Plus i have had TWO newish Markbass cmd102p`s bite the dust on me during gigs.... thank god they were still under warranty Im also sorry for spelling DEFINITELY wrong in the title
Two of these babies going down on you is unreal. IME Markbass make pretty reliable kit. -

A mate offered me the chance to try out his Orange Terror with my Bergantino CN212 this weekend. Think I will pass.
I put the cab where it sounds best, even if that's in the middle of the stage and you're stuck on the other side.
I guess that is the right thing to do. Its just that I am feeling a little selfish of late and really want to be in closer proximity to my cab, as it helps to improve my playing. I will experiment at the weekend with re-positioning the cab, but if the overall sound suffers to a noticeable degree, I will position it back in its usual spot in the centre of the stage.

Bergantino CN212 vs Genz Benz NX2-212T vs BF Super 12T
leroydiamond replied to tonyf's topic in Amps and Cabs
I actually didn't know that the genz benz was no longer available new, but already I've spotted a few used ones around. I think my ideal sound-wise is the hd 212, and while I could use a trolley to move it around, I'd be storing it upstairs which could be a pain. That is a good point leroydiamond, I could combat the modern sounding cn212 wit a warmer head - I know the th500 has a vintage sound to it, and the little mark could warm up if the blend was on the tube preamp. The pf800 has an ultra lo button, which could boost the lows, and the shuttle 6.2 has the tone shaping features.
The Berg CN212 is a class cab, but IMO the Genz NX2-212T is the real value for money option. I have used both and would be more than happy with the Genz. A mate of mine pairs his Genz NX2-212T with a Markbass F1 (no longer available new--think there is one in the 'for sale' section here) and is really pleased. That pairing would make for an excellent set up IMO for not much money, when compared with a new CN212+amp.
