the bass weighs 8.4 pounds.it feels very light compared to my vmj and fender p
I am a sucker for lighter basses. Well done. That looks like a great bass
U.S DJ's are fantastic basses, but are actually quite rare due to the fact that they are so expensive ,and the fact the much cheaper Skyline version is so good. . Lakland have only made about 65 US DJ's in the last in the last eleven years, including the prototypes .It's worth mentioning that the U.S DJ's has a very different neck profiles and fingerboard radius to the Skyline model. The U.S version has a neck profile that is an exact replica of Darryl Jones 1966 Jazz Bass, and a 7.25 inch fingerboard radius. The Skyline version has a much flatter 10 inch radius and a more generic( but still very comfortable) Jazz Bass neck profile.
I did not realise that the U.S. versions are so rare, otherwise I might have gone ahead and purchased that U.S. DJ Wish I had now. That neck was really something special

I recently picked up a US DJ in a music store and fell in love. A really beautiful bass and really light weight. Wha'ts the weight of your skyline like?
Stingray sound crap when I practicing or jamming at home. When it comes to gig time it is a swiss knife.
Interesting comment. I can never make my mind up about a bass when I try them out at home or in a music store. For me it is all about how the instrument sits in a live gig situation. Regarding a stingray, I have tried a couple over the years and found them to be on the heavy side and would not describe their sound as dark.

Lovely bass. Is it a Skyline or U.S.?

Afraid I have got to stick with the syringing. Along with ear wax, I get a lot of dead skin down the old ear canal due to psoriasis in the ear.

I have played in a number of bands over the years who carried Dynacord P.A. and their gear always impressed. Top class gear I would say

Playing bass with neck & shoulder issues
Oh dear more expense. Sorry to divert this thread further re the use of the Duo, but do you swap it around basses & is so how much of a faff is resetting for each one? Last slightly OTQ I promise!!
Sorry just using mine on one bass so would not be fair to offer an opinion. -

Some years ago I upgraded my CD interconnect from the standard 50p piece of kit to one costing £25 and there was a definite improvement in sound quality ( back then my ears worked). Soon after I attended a Nordost promotion with cheque book in hand and despite comparisons between cables costing around the £100 mark and others costing thousands, I could not detect any difference.
At the current retail prices, I would think long and hard before actually peeing on any German-made Warwick. Maybe start off peeing on a Rockbass or,at most, a Pro Series one and see how you go on. Those Made in Korea Warwicks are very good quality and you probably wouldn't notice much difference between peeing on one of them and a proper German one, anyway .
Point taken. Expensive things aren't they. Probably best to stick with peeing in my shoe. Mind you I have a Sadowsky.............

Peed in my shoe once (Long story). Never liked Warwick basses as I would find it easier to pee on one than play one

My Fender 1964 jazz bass with matching headstock. Believe it or not the body is a refinish

Playing bass with neck & shoulder issues
leroydiamond replied to Gary Williams's topic in General Discussion
I purchased the Duo strap (leather ) about a year ago, but after several attempts at setting it up I gave up. However following Gary's post, together with a noticeable increase in my shoulder pain over the past couple of months, I decided to get it out of the drawer and give it another go over the weekend. I spent many hours attempting to set up this strap, but whatever setting I arrived at, it just felt awkward. the sensation of having a strap over both shoulders just felt weird. I felt like i was wearing a harness as opposed to a strap. This weekend I just concentrated on my playing and let the Duo strap go to work. Normally after a weekend of gigs my shoulder is stiff and sensitive to the touch. I get home from a gig and put a heat wrap on it in an attempt to ease the pain. However, after playing two 3 hour shows this weekend with the Duo strap, I have little or no shoulder pain . . -
IME the TC electronic RH450 will not stack up well when compared to the LM11 in terms of headroom and volume. I used this Amp over a weekend after a number of years with the LM11 and I was pretty underwhelmed by it to be honest. I used the LM11 with 2 cabs at 4 ohms and found that with this set up, this little amp really flourished when compared with an 8 ohm set up. Right now I am using a Tecamp 900 and am more than happy with it. Also have an Aguilar TH500 which is more old school but has a complex EQ set up that I sometimes struggle with. Again plenty of headroom with this baby.

Playing bass with neck & shoulder issues
Another sufferer here. I have RA and Spondolosis in the 3rd 4th and 5th vertebrate. I gave up playing for a couple of years due to the RA causing damage to the bones in my right hand. I had surgery last year and had a metal bar inserted with means I have limited movement in the wrist. I used to b e a pick player but now use fingers. I am just about to take delivery of a new bass which weighs in at around 7lb so hopefully I be able to stand up and play again. Good luck with the op and best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Always on the look out for what is happening in the super light bass department. What is the make of bass you are due to take delivery of?. The one positive is that my shoulder issues really limit the GAS I experience regarding basses. Anything over 7 lb is of little interest -
Playing bass with neck & shoulder issues

Hope you get sorted Gary and have many long years of gigging ahead of you. Several years ago I moved over to the micro/neo kit and have never looked back. I am now 51 years old (I like to think of it as 21 with 30 years experience ) and will never be going back to heavy weight gear. I to have suffered from shoulder pain, which sent me down the Sadowsky NYC route and for the last 4 years, I have been gigging with my bass which weighs just 7 pounds. However more recently pain to my neck/shoulder has become more of an issue and like you, I purchased a Gruv Gear duostrap but could not adjust it to my satisfaction. Well after reading your post, I plan on spending the afternoon with the duo strap and using it for this weekends gigs and will be putting in an order for for the Mbrace guitar holder next week. I really enjoy Basschat and am always grateful to everyone for sharing their expertise and knowledge here. However I would particularly like to thank you Gary, as your post has been a real wake up call for me and possibly others on here as well. Wishing you the very best -
I have decided to keep my Genz Benz Nx2-212T. As Musicman20 points out, these cabs were a steal at the blow out price and even when they originally sold for £750, they were highly regarded. Last weekend I gigged this cab 2 nights running without P.A. support and it just kept on giving. There happened to be a couple of musicians from around town at our gig on Saturday night and they were really impressed with the sound of this cab on the floor. I just cannot fault the NX2-212T and it is easily the best cab i have ever had the pleasure of playing with. If I were to move it on, I might make a small profit but I am only transferring the significant saving I made, on to someone else to enjoy, whilst having to dig deep into my pocket for the Bergantino CN212. Thanks to everyone on here for offering their opinion. GAS is sorted.

I am afraid the bergantino is not available here in Ireland, so I don't have the opportunity to try it out.

GAS ATTACK. Recently acquired the Genz Benz NX2-212T cab at the blow out price of £375. Considering moving it on and picking up the Bergantino CN212. I have no experience of this cab, but the glowing comments it gets on line have got the juices flowing. I wonder Is my GAS justified?
