If I want more treble I move my fingers nearer the bridge. If I want less treble I move my fingers nearer the neck.
My mate last night used his thumb only, for the entirety of a short set, favouring the neck pic kup of my pre cbs Fender Jazz. Just a tremendous tone.

Heard my pre cbs Fender jazz being played by a mate last night and I feel he got a tone from that bass that was to die for and I could not ever replicate .

Cannot comment on the CN212 but got the NX2- 212T at the bargain price of £375 from GAK, just when I was about to pull the trigger on a CN212. Well happy with the NX2-212T.

Purchased My Genz Benz NX2-212T from GAK a few months back and they were excellent. Shipped to the Republic of Ireland no problem.

Classic Albums series. Steely Dan and Others.
leroydiamond replied to bubinga5's topic in General Discussion
Loved this series, but had a right laugh when Bono referenced the ghost of John Henry Bonham when listening back to Larry Mullins drum track during the making of 'the Joshua Tree' . Good man Bono, modesty and delusion all wrapped into one. -
Yeah definitely it's not that I can't get on with it, it's just in general it wouldn't be my first choice to have in the neck position if that makes sense? It's extremely versatile though literally this thing will sound great in absolutely anything. Don't think any less of me but yesterday I was giving it the "Metallica test" which few basses pass for me. But EMG's + Fodera = match made in heaven.
£3500 purchase of a used bass that does not give you first choice pick up configuration ( a pretty fundamental requirement IMO) is, well unusual IME. Best of luck with it though.

Interestingly I have laid my hands on 2 high end Foderas and dare I say it, they were not my cup of tea
Of Course it applies! I'm going to keep it yes but I still wanted to know if the dinks would hinder the resale value. That was the original point of this thread remember? Barrie from bassgear kindly enlightened me anyway, preowned Fodera's dinks or not, hold their value. Which is very good to know.
Well then keep it if its a keeper, play the s**t out of it and if you decide to sell down the road you will get what its worth, pure and simple. We all know Foderas hold their value, as they are highly desirable and yours will be no different, provided you forget about re routing the p pick up cavity. Going down that road will definitely be a game changer.
Ok folks just to clarify as I stated earlier, I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THIS BASS!!!! In no way do I regret the purchase and the bass is in no doubt going to be a keeper anyway. I am perfectly happy and will no doubt look into abit of refurb work on bits here and there, as I am a light touch it will be looked after, even when being gigged. The very lovely people at bassgear emailed me concerned because of some of you guys! Plus gave me some advice direct from Fodera to help sort bits of the finish. I apologise if I gave off in any way that I am dissatisfied, I'm not. I'm going to play it to death. As for the pickup config, I wouldn't of spent this much if I didn't know it sounded good, or that I wasn't 100% happy with pickup config etc? I wasn't the one to say I wasn't happy because undoubtably as a bass player, I am on cloud 9. As I said I have played one of these briefly before and was very impressed, as I am with mine, playability and sound is impeccable and unmatchable. As we all know Fodera are the bees knees and I wouldn't expect any less. In no way am I dissatisfied that it has a p pickup, it was a thought, that's all, I asked for opinions and I obviously got them. I am just not a fan of P pickups in general. Just being honest. If I was to swap it out/have it routed I know resale value would obviously be hindered. It won't be happening anyway, I doubt I could trust anyone taking a router to it, but the thought had been on my mind and I've been pondering on it for quite a while as it's something of a unique quality. Just to clarify aswell, extremely happy with bassgear, the service, the delivery, everything. They are fantastic people and I am quite content to give them my custom. I will be buying my gear, strings etc solely from them from now on. Cannot express how happy I am with bass gear and can't apologise enough for them getting the wrong impression because some bc'ers were trying to put words in my mouth. Extremely chuffed honestly.
Well it seems that in this post the OP has moved considerably from his first post as the bass is now a keeper, so resale value does not apply.

Steaming has worked a dream for me smoothing out dings on both maple and rosewood fret boards.

£3500 spent on a Bass with a pick up configuration that you knew, prior to purchase was not going to be your liking?
I can recommend (not first hand) Anusol for your inflammation and irritation.
A more generous response I could not have hoped for. Now stop derailing the thread. Who is the bloody retailer?
HAHAH!!!!
Now I feel both inflamed and irritated. all at the same time too !!

Travelled to London a good many years ago to see Rush at Wembley and the following night caught Norman and Wilco at the Half moon in Putney. Came back home having been knocked out by Norman and Wilco . Rush....

Imminent amp purchase, opinions sought
leroydiamond replied to eddies left thumb's topic in Amps and Cabs
I recently took delivery of a Tecamp Puma 900 and it is a very impressive piece of kit. It has got bags of power with a modern clean tone. Big down low and extended highs. It works straight out of the box as the EQ is pretty straight forward to set up. Highly recommended -
These look great but anybody got any idea what they sound like?. I am not familiar with Demeter gear. Can we expect old school thump, or a more modern tone?
-
Don't ask me, I'm biased. I've been using a TH500 (EQ pretty much flat with a slight boost to the bass and treble) since March last year and I've just bought another as a backup. I'm an old fashioned player who prefers shaking the foundations with full, fat and punchy lows and low mids. This amp does just that.
+1. This is what the Tone Hammer does really well. Thick down low with that tube like grind if required.

Metallica through the never... Thoughts?
leroydiamond replied to Damonjames's topic in General Discussion
He had the aggression and the tone! +1 -
LM 2 is a great head. However if you can pick up an Markbass F1 all the better, though it might stretch your budget a little.
-
Gigged the Tone hammer 500 for the first time last night. I have never had the pleasure of playing through a shuttle and all though its early days with the Tone hammer, it is safe to say that this this amp is not about sparkling highs. The EQ section is somewhat complex, as the gain/drive controls impact significantly on the overall tone (will take more time to get a handle). However I really enjoyed using this amp. It is quite a departure from the more Hi fi tones of the Markbass/Tecamp heads I have used for the past number of years and might well be more appropriate for my current needs (playing classic rock covers). The Tone hammer is more 'old school' in terms of tone, so if your a slap happy kind of guy, this will not be your thing IMO. The Tone hammer is about a tighter low end and rolled back highs IMO. As always, with a new head, it will take me several gigs to find my tone, but I am off to a good start. There is a lot of information from Tone hammer users over on Talkbass if you want to check it out.

Markbass - all made in Indonesia now and heavy?
leroydiamond replied to phatbass787's topic in Amps and Cabs
Some years ago when I e-mailed Marco for advice on the best Markbass amp/cab pairing to suit my needs, he got back to me real quick with a detailed response. His recommendation was bang on. Markbass gear kept me in the game, not only because of the tone on offer, but primarily because of portability and light weight. There was little alternative back then, other than weekly visits to to the physio due to carrying around the heavy weight alternatives. For keeping me in the game, I am eternally grateful to Marco. I have used different combinations of Markbass amps/cabs over the years and they never let me down. Would prefer if Markbass continued to manufacture their gear in Italy, but things change I guess. Welcome to Basschat Marco -
Therein lies the enigma; you fine hone 'your sound' with a lush amp/cab set-up and then a hairy assed sound guy does whatever he wants to get the sound that a ) he wants to hear b ) fits the room acoustics!
+1 Your on to something.
