Gigged my recently acquired Genz Benz NX2-212T partnered with a new Tecamp Puma 900 over the weekend. I am really pleased with the results. Really creamy lows and a nice cut though in the mids with proper adjustment on the amp eq. LOADS of headroom on these Puma's. In recent weeks I have been partnering the cab with the very fine Markbass F500 but The Puma is definitely a better match with this cab IMO. My experience to date with this cab, is that it needs to be matched with the appropriately voiced amp in order for it to really sing. Combined with the Puma it really is an excellent pairing Really suits my needs as I play with a 3 piece rock covers band and often work without PA support.

I can only offer comment on the Sadowsky here. Check this link to nail the pickup and other set up tips for your Sadowsky. http://www.sadowsky.com/media/support/library/technical/bp0996_bass_setup.pdf I have found that a slight adjustment has a big impact regarding pick up height on a Sadowsky, when compared with any other bass I have tried. I followed the guidelines in the above link and everything sounded just right. Could not get on with the Mono, Had been using the comfort strap but a couple of years ago got a gift of a soft, wide leather strap and that for me is the most comfortable.

SOLD Markbass Traveler 151P-final price drop £240

The experience for many when it comes to Markbass is the Little Mark II. a very popular amp but not everyone's cup of tea. I had one and switched to the Markbass F500 and it is a serious step from the LMII I.M.O. A very different amp. Very punchy and not at all laid back.

Do not get carried away on the name. There are some really good budget instruments out there, so this kind of money needs to be getting you something that feels really special and right for you. In my opinion you need to go and spend time with the bass, check it out thoroughly before arriving at a decision. It sounds like a reasonably fair price for this instrument, but remember it is a buyers market and cash is king, so do not be afraid to offer a little under the asking price.

I have been using the Markbass F500 for quite a while now. Lots of headroom, versatile, packs of EQ possibilities, really reliable, small, light and sounds great. Whats not to like (other than the colour )? The only issue is these are no longer available. . Reckon they will be a future classic

Missing the Rat fur on my Markbass. . I used the NX2-212t last weekend. Very sensitive cab when compared with the Markbass. I will reserve judgement until I use it for a couple of more gigs and experiment with various EQ settiings. A real bargain at £379 though
Great Gamma ordered,many thanks again
hi. Where did you order your gramma pad? -
Great combo. I use the same cab with a little mark II and run it flat ( VLE and VPF fully turned anticlockwise) playing electric bass and love it. I Also add in the 1 by 15 traveler cab and I have a portable powerful bass rig. Been using this set up for quite some time and it has been ultra reliable. enjoy
Who else here owns a streamliner? how do you find it? Check out my other thread here... http://basschat.co.u...ink-of-my-idea/ to see what I might try and do with it in this situation. Thankful for any further feedback.
Yes calling all Streamliner users.Any reliability issues? Need an amp to power the NX2-212 and considering the Streamliner but the Tecamp puma 900 is also a possibility
Yeah sure thing, good idea. We can all take a look see if its similar to ours. I am an absolute pain when it comes to satisfying my need for perfect QC, so I'm intrigued about this.
Me to +1. I have the Genz Benz set up beside two Markbass cabs and the build quality looks every bit as good to my eyes, though I am a fan of the 'rat fur' finish on the Mark Bass cabs
my NX2-212 arrived from BD yesterday too (along with the Shuttle 9.2). The combination of the two sounds truly great!!!, however ..... not impressed with the build quality of NX2-212 cab. It's a bit micky-mousey. The handles screwed into the cabinet come out on the other side and are clearly visible along with the chips of wood that naturally break out when you drive a screw into a board. Also the cheap lookign foam at the bottom stapled into the bass does not look slick and will be a bitch to dust off. The label at the bottom of the grill looks like its about to come off... all these little things add up
That's dissapointing . Mine arrived yesterday from GAK and everything is spot on. Handles look fab, sticker is secure. Maybe you need to get back on to BD, as many basschatters have purchased these in the last few days and there are no reports of the cosmetic flaws you have described. Not sure what you refer to regarding the foam stapled into the bass. I am curious, so maybe you can clarify.

My NX2-212 just arrived. Can never really give any opinion until I gig it at the weekend. Great value, fast shipping and really happy having done business with GAK

Working band - and learning new songs
leroydiamond replied to The Dark Lord's topic in General Discussion
playing in a covers outfit myself, I know exactly what you mean. Similarly the group I am in tend not to rehearse and try new songs on the fly during a gig. More oftent than not it works well enough, but personally I prefer to rehearse regularly. When we take on a technically challenging song, I insist on rehearsal to insure it will be right on the night. I feel that any gigging band should rehearse regularly, as it can only be advantageous in terms of performance. However my experience is that covers bands in particular, for whatever reason find it difficult to put the time aside for regular rehearsal. -
Death of the pub, interesting read
leroydiamond replied to skidder652003's topic in General Discussion
same story here in Ireland. Rural pubs are getting a hammering and urban pubs not much better. The pub gig scene is getting a bashing with landlords cutting costs where they can. Take away booze is dirt cheap, making a social night out uneconomical for many.
