My cab has been shipped!. I can track it on DPD couriers website. Delivery date is estimated to be next Tuesday which is pretty quick, considering I live on the west coast of Ireland. Now can i stretch for a streamliner or shuttle, or should stick with my markbass f500?. Have to say the review of the steamliner with the nx2-212 by the bass whisperer on YT is very impressive

Just got an email from GAK stating that the nx2-212 cab is due for shipping from their warehouse. Thats a surprise, cannot wait!
but i already bought a cover for mine & i paid a lot more for mine rig from Bass Direct Boo hoo its not fair Oh well bollocks
life sure is tough some times. Did you by any chance compare the Bergantino CN212 with the Genz Benz when you were at Bass Direct?
Berg cabs have an excellent reputation, and although tonally I don't think the pevious AE212 was for me, (very wide modern tone, lots of low end, polite mids) the CN212 seems to be a very very well regarded cabinet. It will be the highest quality, and is 1lb lighter than the NX2 212 T. As you say, the Berg cabs are a lot more money, and boutique in a sense. The Bergs will hold their value pretty well, and the Genz will probably sell for more once the sale is over. BTW - Do not worry about the warranty. They are not allowed to sell the units without a warranty. Genz are serviced by Fender UK. Genz are no more, but the key staff are apparently working inside Fender on new amps. You can also still contact the Genz staff on Talkbass. If I was looking for a new amp, I'd snap up a Streamliner 900, Shuttlemax 9.2, Shuttle 9.2, or the Shuttlemax 12.2. I have two Genz amps which luckily were very low priced, so I haven't lost out. The warranty issue is exactly the same as if you bought a different brand, eg Aguilar. UK service centres will deal with it.
Very interesting. I am tempted to go for a streamliner or shuttle to go with the cab. Which would you or anyone else here suggest I should snap up?. I play in a classic rock covers band and either use a Sadowsky J bass or a Fender pre cbs jazz

I was really close to ordering the Bergantino CN212. Some say it has the edge over the Genz Benz, but I cannot imagine this edge being worth an extra £571!
I wasn't even really on the look out for a 212 to be honest, I only play small venues at the moment and my current rig is more than enough, but this is too good a deal to turn down... That's a lot of cab for £379... I need a head to go with it now, thinking either the Streamliner 600 or a Aguila TH 500...
I guess the Streamliner/Shuttle would be the best match, particularly at these knock down prices. But what about after sales support/service on Genz Benz amps?. After all it appears they are being phased out by Fender
I've emailed Roqsolid, pointed them to this thread/the offer, and asked if they can offer a discount if we all start ordering.
This is a great idea. However GAK do not actually have the cabs in their warehouse yet. Ok, all should be good to go by the end of next week according to GAK, but you never know. I would prefer to wait until I actually have the cab in my possession, then get the cover. Just wondering would Bassdirect/The Bass Gallery match the price that GAK are offering these cabs for?
Sounds like a wise course of action to me, they are going to fly out the door! I once ordered a YamahaTRB from GAK... waited for two months then gave up and got a refund.
Hopefully this is a one off from GAK. Otherwise there will an army of unhappy Basschaters.
hmmm.... one of those 212s for me I think.... I'll hang on till they are actually in stock though. My previous experiance of GAK is they list every single item of bass equipment available then try and get hold of it when someone orders it...
Normally I would wait until the item is in stock, but they have a limited supply on order ( six I believe) so I was concerned that they might be sold on pre order before they arrive.
It's hardly voodo! Yes, I use mine with my RH450 and am happy as Larry. Just checked and I've had mine for over 3 years with no regrets. Yes, I could have saved a whole pile of cash by waiting 3 years, but it's more than paid for itself in that time. Only last Friday I took it to a gig and didn't want to put it down on the wet pavement by the car - but, at that weight, I could just carry it with no problems! When I compare it to the tears of transporting my Trace 1210 combo, it's simply chalk and cheese... If anyone's doubting, just buy now. If you don't like it, you're likely to be able to make a profit by reselling in a few months. I might be a little more dubious about a head, though. There were too many ergonomic things that put me off the Shuttle heads (sounded fine, though). But there also appeared to be quite a lot of people with niggles. They were all pleased with the excellent GenzBenz service, but without that it could be a different matter?
Glad to hear that the cab works well with the RH450. Though not quite voodo, amp and cab matching requires attention. E.g. my mates RH450 does not cut it through my Markbass cabs but sings quite well through the TC cabs
ITYM halving...
i stand to be corrected and have edited accordingly
-
Halving the impedence from 8 to 4ohms results in increased output from the amp, assuming the amp is compatible with a 4 or 8 ohm load. E.g. my Markbass amp feeds 300 watts at 8 ohms and 500 at 4 ohms.
looking at the state of those cabs you might do better selling pristine looking drivers.....
+1 Do you plan running the NX2-212T with the MAG 400?

I just pre ordered a NXT-212T from GAK. Was saving up for the Bergantino CN212 but with a price difference of £571!, the Genz Benz at £379 is a must have in my quest for a 1 cab solution. Complete bargain!. Considered going for a Genz Benz Streamliner amp, but as they are seemingly going out of production, I decided to hold off. I will power it up with my Markbass F500 and consider an upgrade to maybe a Tecamp puma 900. Anybody here have experience of running the have experience running the NX2-212T with amps other than Genz Benz?

The NX2 212T ls a real bargain all right. Are they a fussy cab?. How will my markbass f500 match with this cab?

Forget Me Nots pretty much note for note...

Lets hope that if is this young lady is reading this thread that she finds it more of a help than a hindrance. For sure she is pretty, but also a damn fine player, for someone who has been playing for just three years. Although she may have not measured up in a live scenario with the great Jamiroquai, lets hope its onwards and upwards for her. It must have been a real challenge to fill the boots of Paul Turner. Rather her than me. -
Lot of mean spirited comments here. I seriously doubt anyone who nailed a bass line on YT could take that onstage with the band themselves at short notice and give a good account of themselves. Nerves aside there are loads of other considerations here. Hell even bands themselves rehearse their OWN music for weeks before going on a tour. Hats off to that young lady. Beautiful and beautifully played especially as she has been playing bass for about THREE YEARS.
+1
