1.
You can't even hear those frequencies anyway, so I wouldn't worry.
Can't hear them, but there is something going on down there . Though agreed a one cab solution will require a certain amount of compromise.
 2.
If you like your current setup then I think the most obvious solution would be a MarkBass 2x12. I recently tried the NY version at BassGear and was impressed. The 12's had the depth of a 15 (to my ears) and I put this partly down to the physical cab size as the 212 is appreciably bigger than a Traveller 1x15. Didn't seem to lack any punch that get from 10's either. I was quite tempted to replace my 210 with it but the 210 fits perfectly in the tiny boot of my everyday car so I decided to hang to it and maybe look out for a 2nd one to go with it
Never new Markbass made a 2x12 cab . Could well be the best solution. Just wondering will I miss the extra low end I get from the traveler 15? (2x12 goes to 45 Hz whweras the 15 goes to 4o hz)
 3.
If you can find them, there was the Marshall DBS 7152 ( Iirc) and the peavey 'big one' (?) They had both a 15 and 2 10s. They won't be light though.
my back is screwed so need light cabs. cheers for the recommendation
 4. the markbass F500 or F1 secondhand would be a good buy IMO
 5.
Great track - good call! But can you imagine it with a 'busier' line? Would ruin it completely!
+1. Perfectly good bass playing
 6.
yeah the barefaced compact should be plenty loud. Have you tried using your traveller 15 on its own?
yea tried the 15 on its own but it needs the 2x10 to give it the extra mid/high end push and allows the f500 to run at 500 watts
 7.
I am guesing you'll need a horn... if not then a 212 over a 15. 210 not enough for loud bands.
Agreed. 210 not loud enough. Anyone tried the genz NEOX NX2 212T?.
 8.
I used to have a mark bass 410, and it was great but I needed something much smaller as I had at the time a Nissan Micra. I bought the 210 you have now and have never looked back. It more than copes with both bands I play in, covers all styles of music and have used it at reasonably big ish venues. It's always been loud enough, and anyways, if you're going through a PA you wont need it that loud really as it'll be for monitoring. I think you already have your solution! However, I'm sure the barefaced fans will be along shortly! Dan
the 210 is indeed an excellent cab. However I do a weekly residency with just vocal PA and need the 15 for the extra low end. Nothing bad to say here about Markbass cabs. I have been pushing them hard for years and they never let me down but need to just go with 1 cab that will allow the f500 to perform at 500W
 9. i have been using a Markbass traveler 15 cab together with a traveler 2by 10 cab for years and they have served me well. however I want to go for a 1 cab solution. i need a relatively small replacement, so 4by10 lightweights are out. I play in a rock setting so plenty of ooomph required here. Using a markbass f500 amp so the replacement cab will need to be a good match. Any suggestions fellas?

 11.
Been using custom plugs with ER15 filters for years. I used to work for a Danish Hearing Instrument manufacturer and no matter how many thousands you pay for hearing aids they'll NEVER replace what you've aready got stuck to either side of your head.
+1. its a gamble going with cheap and cheerful generic plugs, i know. I took the gamble and it didn't pay off. Custom plugs are the only way.
 12.
Have to say that MA solo above should never have gotten off the cutting floor...esp when you get EVH's a few songs on. Really... as far as solos go... and I understand the showbizz thing...a little bit.. but know your limits. It is awful... and sounds like he had done a few bottles of the stuff...
Its just a rock n roll showbiz thing that was going down at the time. A poor solo though and nobody disagrees here. But its as an ensemble player the MA excels. Ballsy tone and right note selection. Also If he is good enough for Satriani and co............enough said
 13.
Hmmm ... You'd think if you we're going to have a solo feature in the same show as EVH... who is simply a gtr genius, IMO, then you should come prepared with your A game ... And if people who know the guys playing better think that is his A game then I think it is fair to comment on it. I would hope in the early days he worked harder...!!!!! Still. He must have made a decent $ so I doubt he cares
Even guitar geniuses dont always have their A game together.. Guess he too has made his dosh and has given up caring. As for Woflgang van Halen........well thats another story http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnYvIfG9Vb4
 14.
That`s exactly it Dingus - just cos a guy plays a root note bassline on his recordings doesn`t mean that`s all he is capable of, it means he/his band/his producer has made the decision that`s what the song required. I think MA is very good - listen to his rumbling root note basslines locking so well with the drums, ideal platform for DLR & EVH to work on. Takes good musical knowledge to realise another "star/lead" is not required in that instance.
+1 He does exactly what is required. Gets a beautiful low end tone with just enough bite that cuts through very well in the mix. This honours the roll of what is the fundamental requirement of the bass quitarist in a rock setting. i have played a number of VH tunes in various cover bands over the years and they are anything but straightforward. Timing, feel, and note selection top class IMO
 15.
Agreed. FW is their best album in my opinion, though I think some of MA's best playing is to be found on VHII.
Yea FW is fab but the impact the first album had on the music seen when it was released knocked everyone out and still sounds as good today (on vinyl). Stunning
 16.
I read an interview with him this year where he said he was careful not to overplay in Van Halen because it was all about Eddie's guitar playing and he was supporting that and the song.
Michael Anthonys playing with V.H. was top class IMO. Their debut album and fair warning were streets ahead of anything else they have done IMO. Satriani, Smith and Hagger are happy to use him for the Chickenfoot project and that is an endorsement of his ability by top class musicians
 17.
Pull the other one!
Never liked the band and Adam just puts me to sleep
 18.
I loved early (Roth era) VH, but never really thought that Michael Anthony fit the band. He was certainly the the worst musician in there by a country mile, although I do concur that his BVs were pretty extraordinary. I recently bought the Guitar World VH interview collection (http://www.amazon.co...56779757&sr=8-1) and the guy really comes across as unlikeable, ignorant and somewhat of a bigger arse than I originally thought. Irrespective of how he feels about DLR now, VH would simply have been another LA rock band without DLRs bravado, charisma and showmanship as the primary focal points. Despite what he was doing before (and after) it just reinforced my opinion and that he was simply in the right place at the right time.
The right man in the right place at the right time IMO
 19. Bought a brand new Fender american Jazz bass from the USA a couple of years ago and there were quality issues that I ended up addressing at my own cost. If at all possible try before you buy IMO.
 20. Using one of these for years both on its own and on top of a markbass traveler 15. Simply a great cab and ultra reliable.
 21.
Sondek's fine 2nd hand - though decks at £600+ will give it a serious run for its money... New it's a rip-off I'm afraid! As for weapons of mass destruction, check out the Clearaudio Statement at 350kgs.
Whaaaaat the F****!.
 22.
It's a Clearaudio Reference (doesn't work well as a boomerang), with Audio Origami-ed SME 3009/2 tonearm and stainless Clearaudio Aurum Beta S cartidge (MM), all sitting on a wall shelf and going into an EAR 834P deluxe phono stage, Bow Warlock pre and Bryston 14bsst power amp. Plays record's ( ) very well! If you're looking at about the £1k price point, as well as the Clearaudio Emotion check out the Acoustic Solid, though many (not me!) swear by the Michell Gyrodeck or at a higher price (and definitely not the best IMMHO), the Orbe...
No consideration to a linn sondek?. you can use the platter as a weapon of mass destruction if required
 23.
The main advantage of vinyl is that people who own more than one record (ie. records) don't insist on incorrectly adding an apostrophe as they do with CDs (ie. CD's)!
At last. an intelligent comment Now I'm off to the local records' fair
