1.
Hi , I have both LittleMark 3 and a Tube 800 amp . I bought the Tube 800 to give me an edge over the two rather loud guitarists that I played with . I tend to have all the Eq flat with a small amount of VLE to try and give a bit of '' vintageness '' to my sound . The tube effect is not hugely apparent , many people argue that they cannot hear it at all , but I think I can pick it up when I start to dig in and play fairly hard . The Little Mark 3 has a very warm / deep sound which is great when played on its own , I also use the LM3 for duo work with an acoustic guitarist as it seems to fill out the sound and give a really good foundation in this type of music . The Tube 800 was a bit of a dissappointment when I first got it , played on its own it does not have the fullness of the LM3 , but I took it to some gigs with a loud Pub Rock band and the Low/mids really seem to punch through the mix of two over zealous guitarists . I also have plenty of power in reserve ( which I probably wont need ) , but its there if needed . I am no sound engineer , so forgive my amatuerish description , but there are other factors like type of bass/ Cab /pedals etc that you may use . Hope this helps
thanks. guess if I am goiing to go for an upgrade on the little mark 11 it needs to be a knockout amp and I would hate to buy an amp and find any dissappointment with it. I use markbass traveler 2by10 and 1bycabs and am quite pleased with them. They are reliable, portable and punchy
 2.
The problem with the 'Tube' Markbass amps is that the tube is miniscule. We are talking a very very small that is, as I mentioned, soldered to the board. It will have a very subtle effect, and to my ears doesnt really add what a tube pre normally does. You might like it. If you want a big, warm, clear and smooth sound, the Streamliner is hard to beat. If you want it more 'middy/low mid kick' the TC RH amps are also a nice option, and sound very tubey despite having ZERO tubes.
A mate of mine uses a TC and we both agreed the little mark 11 has the edge over it. But it sounds like the streamliner might be a better buy over the tube 800. Whats the point of having a tube preamp unless unless it has the desired effect. The only other option in the same price range might be an Ampeg svt 7 pro thanks
 3.
I've go the tube 500, and whilst they really divide opinion I'm on the plus side, although I have been disappointed by the re-sale value. Dialed right across to the solid state pre-amp you'll have something near identical to what you have and mixing in the tube brings in a lot of warmth. However, not everybody agrees so either it's my preference for a tube and a bit of pyscho-acoustics, they aren't consistent or some ears don't notice. I can't imagine having 800 watts on tap, I've run mine through 2 112s, an old Hartke 410 and an Ashdown 810 and it's never got beyond 4 on the volume. It is pretty linear as well the times I've been pratting around and experimented with how far it'll go have resulted in some serious power. Oh, and you won't get any grit from it at all, not that kind of valve.
thats good info. Thanks for taking the time to post
 4.
+1 Which cabs? 500 watts can easily drive 2 410's so I'd get the second MB cab and see what you think about the LM2 at that point.
i am already using a little mark 11 with a 1by 15 and 2by10 traveller cabs and it performs well. Just feel like a treat and hance my interest in the little mark 800. However there are other options in the same price range such as the genz benz streamliner 9 and the ampeg svt 7 pro. I just got an email from markbass confirming that the tube in the 800 is not user servicable as its soldered into the motherboard, which to say the least is a turn off.
 5.
Do you want a warm tube-type tone, with a little bit of that colour that tubes add, or a more straight up 'flat amp' like the Markbass (eg a little bit more clean and sterile)?
I have been pleased with the little mark11 but am being swayed to try something different. Very impressed with reviews and sounclips of the streamliner. Whatever I go for I will hold onto the little mark 11. i think its crazy that if the Tube goes down in the Markbass 800 that it will have to go back to markbass for replacing. A NUTTY design
 6.
What tone are you looking for? After a recent experience with a new product and Markbass, id say Genz Benz are hands down the safest bet...they will do anything to put your amp right should it have any problems. Markbass do have a good reliability rate, but their afterservice falls way behind Genz. If you like the warm full tone of the Markbass LM2, you will, IMO, like the Streamliner 900. Its sounds huge, a very full usable low end, sweet articulate treble, and the mids can be be pushed right up and it will still sound musical. I much much prefer the 500W Markbass tone over the 800 series of amps. The LM800/MLT800 tend to have seriously deep lows and a peak in the high mids which sounds quite harsh. Not balanced like the LM2/3 or F series. The difference with the 'tube' version of the Markbass amps has virtually no 'tube' characteristics. It is a tiny single tube soldered onto the amp board. The Streamliner has 3 real tubes that you can swap to taste, and it DOES sound like a very clean and crisp tube amp, (and it will grind and distort if you want it to).
Thanks, thats great info!!. The fact that the tube in the Markbass is soldered into the board is a turn off from a user service friendly point of view. I play in a rock/blues covers band and use a Sadowsky NYC, as I find the on board preamp offers me quite a lot of versatility.
 7. I am upgrading from a little mark 11 and am unsure as to whether to opt for the markbass Tube 800 or the Genz Benz streamliner 9. I will not have the opportunity of trying these out and will be buying online. Any advice on which one to opt for?

 9. just this weekend I got my new handmade Leather strap (made from the rarest of cattle breeds, the wagyu), and I could hear the difference in my tone immediately!! Tighter lows and clearer highs for sure . Our guitar player is ordering his next week!! well worth the £500 price tag. Comfort strap for sale.
 10. 14.
I reckon they sound too similar to justify as an upgrade. Definitely try the Genz Benz Streamliner before you buy the Markbass. Andy
thanks Andy. I am very happy with the markbass sound, just thinking the extra wattage of the 800 will increase headroom
 15. i plan to going from one markbass cab to two so I am considering moving up from the little mark11 to the little mark tube 800. Has anyone tried the 800? if so what are the opinions on these amp? are they a good upgrade from the little mark 11 many thanks
 16.
That U2 bassline. You know, the one that goes "dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum..." it's brilliant!
Ha Ha . A few years ago bassplayer magazine featured a 5 page special on Adam clayton and all that muck about him beeing a fab player. i have not bought bassplayer magazine since then
 17.
Yea the Markbass gear certainly rocks. thanks for your response
Just wondering did you get a chance at trying the 1 by 15 markbass traveler cab?
 18.
Hi Leroy i use a markbass 2x10 combo and neaded more bottom end so i tried just about every cab available and settled for a markbass 151 hf and cannot believe how good this sound is i also have a ampeg stack a ashdown stack and a peavey combo but the markbass tops the lot. Good luck with the search for the right cab cheers mate
Yea the Markbass gear certainly rocks. thanks for your response
 19. Thanks to all you folk for your suggestions. will let you know how things work out.
 20.
I use two Mark Bass 2 x 10" cabs. Been very happy with the performance, certainly bassy enough. Versatile set up. For quieter gigs and rehearsals I just take one of them.
are your cabs the traveller or standard series thanks
 21.
I'd get a Standard 102HF. A second 210 will sound better and as the 102 is much bigger it will go louder and much lower. The bass end will be fine. You might even be able to use the 102 on its own more than the traveller cab.
This may well be a good option. Thanks
 22.
I had this setup and went for a pair of 2 x 10 traveller cabs. I'd recommend that setup as opposed to a 1 x 15 which I also had. if you stack the pair of 2 x 10 on their sides it has the added benefit of getting the sound up closer to your ears. (A single traveller 2 x 10 is surprisingly loud if you listen from out front.) Frank.
For sure the 2*10 traveler packs a punch for its size. I just want to grab a little more low end than the cab has to offer, so thats what prompted thoughts regarding a markbass 1*15. Did you find using the two 2*10 cabs generated a little more low end?. why do you find this set up superior to using the 1*15? thanks for your response
 23. I have been using a little mark 11amp with a 2*10 traveller cab. It is a fine set up for gigs where P.A. is in use but for smaller pub gigs where only vocal is supported by P.A.,the bass set up does not produce enough low end.So I am considering purchasing a 1*15 traveller cab to use with my 2*10 giving me a 500 watt system. Is this a good idea or should I go for a 1 cab solution from barefaced, Vanderkley, Bergantino, etc (portability is an issue). Unfortunately because of my location I will not get the opportunity to test out a variety of cabs, so any opinions out there will be very welcome
 24. Gassing for the larger markbass 2by10 now!!. thanks for the help guys.
 25.
It's nothing to do with the driver size, it's the cab dimensions. The bigger MB 2x10 cabs have loads more low end, the traveller is a compromise of low end for a lighter & smaller footprint cab.
for sure. however I am confined to using small lightweight cabs ( bad back and a ford fiesta!) so i am interested in whether the 1by12 traveler, or for that matter any other small lightweight cab is a good compromise between the lack of definition (IMO) of the markbass 1by15 and the lack of bass of the 2by10.
