1. I have been contemplating a parts bass for a month or two now. Now i know i could get some seriously cheap parts off ebay, but that seems pointless. Looking at companies like WD/warmoth it will be quite expensive to buy all of the parts. Now i am assuming that parts basses have next to no resale value, am i wiser to buy a MIM and mod it. Any opinions welcome.
2. Taking straight lines i have measures the screw holes just as a double check. See if yours is the same. Measurements are in mm side of pickup to top edge of guard is aroung 16mm (between pickup and bridge)
3. First up if this is in the wrong place.. sorry, i'm sure someone will move it. After a jam with a couple of friends, i notice something. I was the only person to bring a tuner, so shared it out. My bass sounded sweet , but the two guitards were a mile off . Now my tuner is quite a ropey £20 boss. Is this down to a crappy tuner or something else. What is/are the best/most accurate tuners to get? Cheers in Advance
4. If you can, get either vintage modified or classic vibe series. They are far from beginner basses for beginner bass money. I have a vintage modified jazz and absolutely love it.
5. Can you show a pic of the pickguard. I have a 62 RI with a tort guard that I was thinking about changing to a black one. If they look similar we may be able to do a little trade.
6. I'm looking for a small practice amp (no bigger than 30w). I want one for ease of portability I often jam with freinds who play acoustics so my bigger fender amp is a little overkill. Any opinions are welcomed.
7. I have recently imported a bass from japan. The bass cost £500 VAT £75 Import Tax £15 Parcelfarce handling £20
8. Is this the same trib that was on gumtree a couple of months ago?
9. Gold would look superb
10. Fender - THE Bass guitars Laklands + Sadowskys - Fender Ripoffs Stingrays & Sterlings - Cool as f*%k. Ricks - Clumsy looking Singlecuts - Plain Ugly
11. Here are my two new additions. A used 08' Fender MIM 70's RI Jazz, thanks again Linus27. and a brand new 08' Fender CIJ 62 RI P And the family shot Missing is a VM jazz, she's getting modded, pics when i finish. No more additions for me for a long time, i don't need anything else..... yet.
12. Hey all, I've been floating around here for a few months. I've been messing around with 6 strings for years. But decided to take up a proper instrument at the end of last year. I had an old squier p hanging around for years so picked that up and started noodling and realised i love the bass. I then through a stroke of luck got a P bass special for very little money, which is a sweet bass so i gave the squier to a friends son. I also picked up a VM Jazz thru gumtree for a steal, man that bass sounds good. I bought a Fender Rumble 60 as my amp, nowt special but you have to love the flashy lights. Yesterday took delivery of a belter of a MIM 70's RI Jazz from a fellow bc'er. All i need now is a decent P and i'll be set. I'm into all sorts of music, but i am a big REM fan, mike mills rocks. Thats enough for now. I look forward to years of asking you all many dumb ass questions, and if i can help any of you guys just ask. Boab
13.
That looks sweet, I love the matching head stock. What makes it deluxe? Is it active?
Ignore the questions, just notice the forth pic...DOH!

15. Just bought a sweet MIM 70's Jazz from Linus27. Bass is exactly as he described it. A bomb could have went off in the delivery van, it wouldn't of damaged the bass it was packed so securely. If i had a question it was usually answered within a few hours. My first purchase thru basschat, and it was perfect. Cheers Linus27
16. I always thought these looked pretty damn cool.
17. I know never to buy from RnB as they are a bunch of tubes who charge rediculous prices. But didn't know if their tech was any good. I have put the bass into rainbow music in dundee, I heard a lot of good things about their tech. I think my frets are needing at best levelled. Cheers for the offers lads, it can't be true what they say about aberdonians. I'll let everyone know how the bass is when i get it back.
18. The reason I ask is, I was contemplating a parts bass but couldn’t decide on a p or a j. So I was thinking about making a p that could become a j or vice versa. Have a large cavity routed under the pg, that could take both jazz and split p pickups. Have a pg for both configurations made. Then when I want to change it, it should be a ten minute job. Possibly use two split p pups to use all three knobs on both configurations. What are your thoughts on this, any glaring problems that I am missing?
19. ok, bad example. Lets say another set of passives.
20. I am having a sunday morning think, never a good thing after a saturday night on the sauce. Lets say i have a jazz bass. Would it be possible to set it up with qp's that are connected with quick connectors. So that i could swap out for a set of EMG's in minutes. Is there any reason why this wouldn't work?
21. Who is available in Grampian/Tayside for good setups and/or repairs. I know of Rainbow and Kenny's in Dundee, and R'n B' in Aberdeen. Who would you guys recommend.
22. I am the same, a little too alvin stardust for me.
23.
Thanks for the link! Is £350 around the normal 2nd hand price for these? The bass seems pretty much perfect in the pics. The guy said it had hardly been touched he bought it for his girlfriend to learn on and she lost interest when it didn't play itself after 2 weeks he was going to keep it as back up but now needs the cash to blow on a Stingray!
I have seen them for £500+ in the shops/online. £350 sounds good. FYI, I got my guard made by a company called jeannie pickguards in the US. So they can make you a guard, without you having to send them your guard, as they made a templete from mine.
