has anyone used the edit and share software yet? I sort of had the idea that maybe there would be a forum hosted by Zoom where people swapped patches in the way that TC Electronic does it with users of the G System. It'd be a really lazy way of me getting some decent Muse sounding patches
Briefly, it's quicker then using the actual unit to edit sounds and you can export the patch to a file so easy to share settings, maybe we could have a thread on Basschat dedicated to patch sharing? I have no Muse patches though - sorry.

I remember this performance from when it was aired, good work indeed.

Bought a Music Man pick-up from Emmett at lunchtime on Friday and it arrived Saturday morning, now that's service. Cheers R.

I'm partial to the odd vocal sample (be it sung or spoken) in tracks like this but others would probably disagree - regardless it's a good dance tune well put together.
You should ask OBBM. He has a graphite necked SR5 - I had a play on it once and it was immense. I thought it was much nicer than the stock neck, although a costly mod. The other thing (that I'm given to understand having never owned one) is that the graphite necks are much less subject to environmental change than wooden ones. I find with my SR5 that when the seasons change it needs to go off to the luthiers for a rod check. If only I could afford a graphite neck
When I get a minute I'll send him a PM, I need to get a cable from him anyway so I'll kill 2 birds with one stone An SR5 is definitely going to be my next project, with or without Graphite.

I like that, it's got old school Goth written all over it.

Bought this a while ago to use on my fretless for a nice couple of cents of pitchshift without the full on chorus effect, but it soes so much more. I now have a Zoom B3 that kinda does a similar thing but not as well. It's in as new conditon but there's no box or paperwork - sorry. [s]£95.00[/s] [s]£85.00[/s] [s]£80[/s] [s]£75[/s] £70 delivered in the UK. Possible trades against a compressor, I have several but one can never have too many
Also, Oli@bass had a staus necked stingray, and he posted a thread of extensive sound comparisons between that, maple necked, rosewood and mahongany versions. I can't find that thread now but give him a shout I'm sure he'd be willing to help! In my opinion, the status neck is the ideal compliment to the stingray sound.
Thanks, Sound clips would be very helpful, I'll get in touch.
Speak to OBBM. He's the Status necked 'Ray 5 man round these parts!
Cheers for the heads up.
They leave them blank in case you want to fit non-standard hardware, such as sealed tuners which are smaller in diameter than the originals (Schaller ABM?) and have fewer retaining screws etc.
That makes sense.
Replacing the neck could be an expensive way of getting a stingray 5 together. And it's a big risk if you don't know exactly what it will sound like. I have a SR5 with a rosewood fingerboard and I like the dark tone, but I have been impressed by the sound of basses I,ve tried with maple boards with carbon rods in them (sadowskys / lakland) they have both brightness and woodiness with a more even tone which seems like the best of both worlds to me. Worth checking out.
I think you're right, I'm just weighing up all the various options of getting what I want, a secondhand Ray plus the cost of a Status neck is going to probably equal close to the price of ordering a brand new Ray to my spec from MM.
-
Thanks for your input, I didn't realise it was a blank, I thought it would come drilled and ready to fit and just swop the hardware over, I'd factored in for a set-up but nothing else.
-
Mine arrived today along with a pen and keyring I'll get them on the P in the next day or two and report back.
-
Good idea, it would certainly be worth a try before shelling out on a Status neck. Regardless I'd like to hear peoples opinions and experiences on the combination of MM5/Status.
-
I'm thinking about getting another Stingray 5, I've had a rosewood necked H before but I'm preferring maple necks at the moment and fancy an HS or HH, finding one secondhand in the right spec and colour is proving hard, one option is to order exactly what I want but I'd rather go down the secondhand route, maybe getting one with a rosewood board and swopping the neck to a graphite Status one. So the question is, how does a Graphite neck on a SR5 compare in sound and tactile wise to a maple or rosewood fingerboarded neck? Cheers R.
It's bal that controls the wet/dry mix. Level controls the output level i.e. the volume.
Thanks, I'll do a bit more tinkering with the bal control later.
-
Interesting stuff re the whole wet and dry amounts, Although I like my B3 I was thinking of still using a compressor pedal because I couldn't get that heavily compressed sound out of it but it may be the mixed in dry signal that is the causing the problem, Is it the 'Bal' or 'Level' contrrol on the 'Total' page that changes the mix of the wet and dry sound?

I'm a big fan of the Lakland 5 headstock as you can tell from my 5 strng Jazz I put together, traditional looking but the 3+2 layout means the headstock doesn't have to be too long.

Met up with Gareth in the lovely Somerset House to collect an aged P bass cover, nice guy and easy to deal with. Thanks.
