I think you will have a vast array of quality sounds, I had a Stingray 5 for a year or two, it was my first 5er but I missed the neck pick-up of a two pup bass, saying that I now have an OLP that I'm using to practice on and it sounds fine, it's passive and less aggressive then the MM was. A generic J pup would look a little odd I think but a Delano (type) would probably work with the big single pole pieces.

I have always fancied an HH or HS Stingray 5 so this project is great, shame you can't get hold of Musicman S pick-ups as that woould probably be my preferred route.

Here's another fantastic pedal that I can't justify keeping now that I have a muti-effects unit that does a reasonable octaver effect. In as new condition with the original box, it has Velcro on the bottom (soft side) [s]£90.00[/s] [s]£80[/s] £75.00 posted in the UK a little less if you collect it. You know what they look like but I can post pics of the actual unit on request. Trade wise, I'd consider an MXR M87 Compressor. Cheers R.

That's going to be a fab looking and sounding bass when it's finished, look forward to seeing the end result.

I'm running mine off of USB bus power from my computer, for the more adventurous types out there the B3 could possibly run via a mobile phone charger connected to the USB port! I'm far from an expert on all things electrical and probably way off the mark so I take no resposibility for damage if you do try it

Continuing my pedal sell off, I have a Boss CE-2, techically not a bass specific pedal but I've just tried it out for the first time since I bought it back in the late 80's (guessing) and it sounds fine. It's a Made In Taiwan 'green label' version in almost new condition just one small mark just above the word 'input', comes with the original box but no manual. Not totally sure what this is worth so I'll start at £65.00 posted and see how it goes. Trade wise I'm interested in decent compressors, MXR or Mark Bass especially. R.

Yeah it's only Fuzz Face or Big Muff, I'm using a little bit of Tube Screamer in my main patch for some dirt which I'm liking a lot.
-
It's runs off of a Boss style 9v supply, it's says it's needs 500ma but I've tried it with a 300ma supply and it works fine so you should be able to daisy chain it as long as your power supply has the ampage to cover all your other effects and the B3 - hope that helps.

I have decided to go down the multi-effects route and will be slowly selling off my pedals as and when I decide the unit is up the the job of replacing each one, as I only use distortion on one song (Eternal Life) with the band it's a criminal waste to keep this so it's the first to go up for sale. It's the 'true bypass' model in excellent over all condition apart from a couple of marks on the foam on the underside. I don't have the box or instructions. £65.00 Including UK postage. You know what it looks like but I can upload pics on request. Cheers R.

I've had a bit of time to play around with the B3 today and it's pretty impressive, I own compressors, a pitch shifter, distortion, chorus and an octaver, most of which only get used at home on the fretless and I'll probably sell them all now except some of the compressors. I find the B3 very easy to get on with and can see me having a few patches with amp simulation for practice/recording at home through the computer and a few more with out the amps for rehearsals. I've never had a muti-effects unit before and the amount of sounds from this is amazing, great fun playing with the synth patches some track a lot better then others though and my sloppy playing can cause some odd glitches, one of the ptichshifters actually tracks better then any pedal I have owned, going down to an open E without glitches. I'll probably use this instead of my Edirol interface even though it only does 16 bit 44.1KHz recording and you can't turn the displays off so they will be needlessly on while it's used as an interface only. That's it for now. R.

Here are two more recent pictures from Lawrence of the fretless neck, it's really starting to look good.

Tis a bargain indeed! I have bought a couple of Hipshot Type A bridges from the US on ebay and not got stung for import duty or VAT which meant a reasonable price for a lovely bridge, it a bit of a gamble though, if customs do pick it up you also get a processing charge. Look forward to seeing this come together.

I haven't had enought time with the unit to give an honest opinion of the it yet but thought I would post the things I find as I start to use it, I downloaded the ASIO driver and plugged it in using USB bus power which works fine, on the down side it doesn't seem to be possible to have the Zoom as the computer input and my Edirol as the output, probably due to the two different ASIO drivers, I'm no expert but there may be a way around this or I just use the Zoom as my sole input/output device.

Also I noticed a bit like buying printers theses days it doesn't come with a USB cable so you will need to buy one or nick the one from your printer.

Arrived sooner then I thought! Had a quick look at the unit and it's a bit bigger then I imagined, the red is quite dark and muted which I'm pleased about as I'm not a fan of red, it's reassuringly heavy as it made from metal and the construction is excellent, the rotary knobs are recessed so you shouldn't hit them when going for the footswitches. Right back to work.
Tempted by this! I've been looking for a D.I solution for easy gigging and if the emulated out on this is any good I'm pretty much sold. Looking forward to brensabre79's thoughts. Anyone else here taken the plunge on this?
Mine is in transit and will hopefully be here in the next couple of days, but I'm so busy at the moment I doubt I'll be able to give it more then a very quick try out until the weekend.

People who make bass bodies on Basschat?
Rumple replied to sockdeluxe_mikey's topic in Repairs and Technical
You could try Basschats Bass Doc or Henry Norton, I have a Bass Doc Jazz 5 body. R. -

I'm envious it's a beautiful looking bass, have you played it? If he ever thinks of selling it I'd love first refusal
-
There's one less in stock now, even though I have an aversion to all things red I have ordered one.
