1. Here's a Friday update, I have ordered some 1/2" Hipshot Ultralites (3/8" one's are now for sale) from Alan (ACG), I also managed to secure a set of cheap PJ pups, these may be replaced at a later date but will be OK to start with, a set of Ernie Ball Regular Slinky are also on their way to. Lawrence is drawing up a full scale plan so we can fine tune a few bits like pick-up position, shape of the scratchplate etc. After some consideration I'm going to have a plain Maple neck no birdeye as I think it will be distracting, I'm not a very good fretless player at the best of times Other decisions made this week are it's going to be 34" I did consider 35 but have decided against it, the neck will be attached via countersunk screws in washers not a standard Fender plate.
2. .. and don't forget to give us a 'follow up' after the audition Mark.
3.
Can somebody give me a brief run down on what Soundcloud is? Genuine question. It's passed me by. Do I need to be doing stuff on it. Do the kids dig it, etc.
Wonder over to the site and have a look, not only is is good for sharing your music with the world but also great for finding something unreleased to listen to.
4. Too wide for me I'm afraid, thanks for measuring it and good luck with the sale, it's a nice looking body for sure. R.
5. I found 'The 5 Minutes' kinda Mesmerising. So good hearing everyone's recordings, best thread in ages
6. I have a couple of these, the ones without tweeters, great cabs.
7. Going to be in the West Midlands at the end of the month if that closer to anyone who's interested.
8. I found a site that quotes it at 3" at the 21st (last fret) which is quite wide, assuming it's the same model.
9. OBBM he will make you exactly what you want. That reminds me I need a new speaker cable.
10. On the pick front I believe Tony Levin used one on his fretless work with Peter Gabriel, Sledgehammer being one fine example.
11. I have just been using mine for the first time in ages today and running it off of 9v (with a polarity reversing cable) and it works fine.
12. Thanks. Shame if it is a wide neck pocket as it's a lovely body, as you guessed I was hoping it was a tad smaller than a Fender 5.
13. Hi, could you please tell me the width (in mm) of the KSD neck pocket please? Cheers R.
14. I think you need to start same serious saving so you can do that fretless.
15. Thanks The body I have had for decades sitting in the loft (see 1st post) and I decided it was time to do something with it and something I'd keep, I have a fretless 5 but never use the B string on it, infact I hardly touch the bass at all so the plan is to have this build as a 4 string fretless for messing about on at home and have frets put in the Overwater 5 that way it gets used more. How are you getting on with the Warmoth?
16.
I LOVE Teal on a guitar . Did one one on a (wash my mouth out) 6 string a couple of years ago and it's still one of my favourites - what will you use to stain it?
I'm not sure as the idea's are mine but all the hard work is being done by Basschats own Henry Norton, if Lawrence is following this thread he might chip in with the info.
17. I now have an ACG 02 eq and a Hipshot Style A bridge in the parts box Here's Lawrences sketch of the design, looking good!
18.
There is a link to my soundcloud page in my signature. Enjoy....
Listened to it all, top notch, especially like the double bass stuff.
19.
A little funk tune a did a couple of years ago. http://soundcloud.co...terstellarstomp
Very Bootsy-esque, love it. Also like Sol Da Manha
20. No it's 35" I think all Lakland 5'ers are 35"
21. Will do. Good work on the Susan Tedeschi track by the way, I picked up a live Trucks Tedeschi Band gig on CD recently which I really like.
22. Started listening to some of these and got stuck on this great track by urb Static - by Groove Digger I'm off to listen to it again!
