    Sounds interesting especially the fretless Tulipwood idea, I'm thinking of going down the fretless maple route again myself at some point.

    As much as I love this bass I prefer narrower string spacings and also I have 4 five strings and no fours! time to redress the balance I think. Will [u][b]only[/b][/u] consider trading against a pre Ernie Ball Stingray or Sabre, an old Jazz or possibly an old Precision. a solid colour would be best.     That's right, I'm no expert but you would need to route a bigger neck pocket or have an extended fingerboard, you can't just bolt on a 24 fret neck as the scale length would change, getting to the upper frets might mean reshaping the lower cutaway. As I say I'm not an expert but it might be worth a chat with a luthier before shelling out money on a Warmoth.

    Blimey those bodies are cheap! You could get a neck made by a luthier over here for about £150, a bit more then you wanted to spend but you do get exactly what you want. R.

    Love my EBS for it's ease of use and tranparency, love the Boss CS-1 for squashing a fretless to within an inch of it's life and it lack of tranparency I picked up a CS-3 and did the Monte Allums 'opto plus' mod to it and that's pretty amazing now for the price.

    As there is a 3 way toggle switch in there already a Pa/Se/By option could be the way to go.

    Thoughts I have had but I have no idea if they would work, can be done with the origiinal switches or actually be any point in doing: On/Off switch, so you can mute the bass but leave the volume knobs set as I like them. Series/Parallel switch - no idea what effect this has to the sound of a bass. Bypass switch, can you have pick-ups going straight to the output jack avoiding all the knobs and is ther any advantage.

    Hi All, I have recently finished a Jazz Bass build (link in signature) and I used a Varitone for the electronics but find it brings nothing to the the table over VVT you get with a standard bass, I do like the look of it though, I could replace it with a bog standard set-up but wondered if I converted the Varitone to standard VVT could I use the redundant swithches for anything useful? one switch is a 3 way the other a two way. I must point out that I know very little about electronics so be gentle I have a mate who was an electronic engineer and would do the work for me if I tell him what I need. Cheers R.

    I bought this in the early stages of my 5 String Jazz Bass build but changed my mind and bought a Hipshot for it instead so this is no longer needed. I'm pretty sure it's a USA one, it has grooves for variable string spacing. £20 including uninsured second class postage. [attachment=86895:Fender_5_Bridge.jpg]
