1.
Very nice! Great colour. The whole package looks wonderful. Well done!
Thank you, I had a look at your build diary today, I didn't notice it before, is it finished? another great Jazz 5! I couldn't see a pic of the whole bass, maybe I mised it.
2. Could it be that that's the kind of person Jaco was, a lot of us on here (myself included) like owning lots of basses and buying, selling, and trying out different kit, for me it's part of the fun but just as many people have and instrument that works for them, are content and stick with it - job done. Our guitarist could afford anything he likes but still only plays the 70's SG he bought new back in the day, only in the last couple of months has he thought about trying something else. If I was only aloud one bass it would be a Jazz.
3.
Holy Mothers! that looks fantastic. I'd be well impressed with that on any level but knowing I had a bit of an input makes me feel right proud The finishers have done a nice job too - bursts are difficult to do at the best of times but black on white is one of the trickiest to get right. You must be well pleased.
Cheers it is a bit special you underplay your involvement though, it was crucial, without a excellent neck that fitted perfectly it would have been pointless taking the build all the way to completion.
4. It's taken a long time to get to the finished product but I think it has been well worth it, I have a lovely bespoke bass, learned a lot, met some nice people who are passionate about what they do, I already have a plan for the next build! First things first, the finish on the body is stunning, even if you don't like my colour choice you would love the quality of the job Bow Finishing did, in fact considering the bass was made and worked on by various people the fit and finish of everything is excellent, better then another bass I had made for me by a single company. On to the sound, I have only been able to try it through my computer system so far, it will probably be a month or so until I can try it out in a band situation but it sounds like a jazz bass to me, quite bright but that's probably the new strings, I tend to use old one on all my basses, sounds great acoustically with lots of sustain so I'd say it a thumbs up. Neck is excellent, looks great is smooth and the slightly narrower string pacing is just what I needed. To be very picky there are a couple of little niggles, it's heavy at 5kg that's 0.5 more then my Lakland. The Varitone will almost definitely go, I thought I'd give one a try but it brings nothing to the table as far as I need so I'll leave it until after I have used it in a band situation but then either put in a standard Jazz control plate or use the 60's style stacked knob one I have in the draw somewhere, the stacked one would mean a new scratch plate as it's a slightly different shaped plate, I'll post a separate thread at some point but I'd like peoples opinions on what way they think I should go. Lastly and certainly not least a big thank you to all involved, some going well above and beyond what they had to. Howard (The Bass Doc) for the body, routing and scratch plate which kicked the whole project off. Lawrence (henry norton) for the neck, nothing was too much trouble. Chris and John at Bow Finishing for a beautiful refinish. Marty Siggery for putting it all together and setting it up. 5. BREAKING NEWS! Picked the bass up today and and to my eyes it's a thing of beauty, played it a little through the computer and acoustically and it sounds very nice to. I have to do some work now but I'll get pics up tomorrow, write up my thoughts and say thanks to all involved - watch this space. R.
6. A lost in transit e-mail from Marty to me has caused some confusion, the bass has been ready for a few weeks, I just need to find the time to go to Crowborough to pick it up, hopefully later this week or possibly on the way to the West Dean Chilli Festival on Sunday.
7. Thanks, hopefully hear something soon from Marty who is putting the whole lot together, he's not big on communication
8. Today I have been on a round trip taking in the lovely Surrey, East Sussex and Kent countryside, got slightly spooked at one point when coming out of a corner I was confronted by a bull in the middle of the road!! I digress, the beautifully finished body was picked up for Chris and John at Bow Finishing (spotted a GB in for painting) and after a chat I headed off to drop everything off at Marty Siggery's in Crowborough. R.
9. Thanks for all the nice words on the finish. I'm planning on picking it up from Bow Finishing and delivering it to Marty Siggery on Monday along with all the parts to have it put together and set up.
10. I had a 4 string Sterling in that colour and loved it, looks even nicer on a 'ray 5, luckily this has sold as it would have been very tempting.
11. Hi All, I'm due two tickets for Foo Fighters at Milton Keynes on the 2nd July, bought last September through a friend who did the booking and I had forgotten about them! I can't go as I have other commitments now, all I want to do is get my money back so... 2 GENERAL ADMISSION STANDING at £52.35 (includes a quarter share each of the booking fee of 4.80) Total for two tickets £104.70 via bank transfer I'll pay for the next day postage from my mates to your house once they arrive. I'm e-mailing friends and work colleges as well as putting them on here, it's on a first come first served basis. My feedback is in the link below R.

13. So here I am on a wet Sunday afternoon listening to the Little Beaver CD this track is on and thinking it would be a good tune to learn, so I spark up the browser and do a search for some TAB and this thread pops up in the results, stupid of me not to have come to Basschat first Thanks For This. R.
14. Cheers, I'm quite excited and a bit nervous now.
15. That will be interesting, you will have to let me know how it turns out. I have just received the CS-3 I won on Ebay to and I have ordered the Opto Plus mod, I hope it makes a difference as it's not much cop in it's standard form

18. Thanks for the info, much appreciated. I have a friend who is an eletrical engineer and good with a soldering iron who is going to do all the hard work so I may go for the opto plus. Cheers R.
19. A little confused by the Monte Allums site and wondered what one of the 3 mod kits on offer are best for bass. Cheers R.
