1. I'm trying to make some cupboard space so this has to go, it's a few years old now but in excellent condition, it's a top quality case with soundproofing, comes with a fitted Corsair power supply. Free to anyone who wants to collect it from Sydenham in SE London or organise a courier to pick it up, sorry I don't have the time or inclination to go to the Post Office. Available until 28th July then it will be skipped. PICS R.
2. Thanks - sparkletastic indeed.
3. Price reduced a little more, bargain neck for your 70's style project bass
4.
Nice to see some info on the Gypsy Rose bass too - bought one of the sparkly black ones that used to come with the white / pink scratchplate a while ago when I spotted it was a 32". Had it modded into a Precision / Jazz hybrid. Turned out to be a pretty nice bass!
Oooo... do you have pics of it?
5.
Just wondering whether the pickups are pretty much "standard" size - so it would be an easy swap? Or whether they're a bit smaller than usual? If you do ditch those pickups - keep the covers, in case they're the only ones that sit straight back in the pickup cavities, without further routing....
That's a good tip
Are you just removing the finish from the headstock? i.e. are you keeping the finish on the body?
I'll remove the headstock finish to start with and decide after that.
6. Found a mention of them on TalkBass
7. Stumbled across these when looking for some replacement pickups to upgrade a cheap bass, anyone tried them? they do a split coil J and also some high output Neo P and J pickups for very reasonable money. HERE
8. These don't come up for sale very often - lovely
9.
Best way to find your posts is to click on topics under your avatar in the profile page.
I've learned something new this morning
10. A sunroof is always a handy feature for most musicians with larger instruments and small cars
11.
I've seen those basses on ebay. Though it's not my favourite, actually I quite like the colour. Great that it's a P/J as this is my preference in pickup arrangement these days Just wondering what projects / ideas you have in mind for the bass? Pickup upgrades? Electrics from Kiogon? New hardware? - please tell
I like the PJ configuration to, my fretless and Yamaha both have this layout, apart from a Stingray I don't get on with one pickup basses, I always miss the J pickup at the bridge. To start I'll probably change the strings, wiring and pickups if I can find something nice secondhand, I'll also look at removing the finish and logo from the headstock.
12. Congratulations, I do love Norman's playing, he's meant to be a very nice guy, enjoy the festival.
13. I'm having a bit of a clear out and this lovely pickup which was in a bitsa P bass I made up but no longer own needs a new home. I bought this from the US and when it arrived one wire wasn't attached properly, it only took a minute with a soldering iron to sort it, you'd never know but I like to be totally up front about things I sell. These look great and sound superb! £80.00 delivered to the UK mainland. Please note: I can generally only get to a Post Office on Saturday mornings PICS
14. Lovely piece of kit but as it's a luxury for someone like me who hardly plays I may as well move it on. even if you don't use it as a gain pedal it makes you bass sound somehow better. In excellent condition, no original box or instructions though assuming they come with those, the only thing worth mentioning to be totally honest is the sticker has been applied a little bit wonky. full info HERE £90.00 delivered to the UK mainland via courier.
15. Lovely Maple J&D Jazz Bass neck, 38mm at the nut and 63mm at the heal, gloss finish all over, slightly deeper back to front than some Jazz Bass necks think mid to late 70's Fender rather than sixties. comes with the original tuners. [s]£50.00[/s] [s]£45.00[/s] £40.00 delivered to the UK mainland. PICS
16. Latest addition to the 32" scale collection, colour aside it's a nice bass, action is low, the neck is slim and fast, one sharp fret end, sounds OK, I'm really glad I bought it as it's no toy and will make a great project bass.
17. I bought a set of tuners from Simon, it was a very easy transaction, great comms and they arrived well packages a couple of days later
18. Welcome to BC, enjoy the ride
19. Complete change of direction for me and I'm only playing smaller bodied basses with a 32" scale necks these days so up for grabs is my sparkly Jazz Bass body. I'm pretty sure it's a Squier, it was sunburst when I got it, I stripped it and painted it (BBS alloy) gold then applied a clear lacquer, my refinishing skills are mediocre at best! weirdly the pictures look better than the real thing it has some orange peel and the gold doesn't shine quite so well in places plus I even managed to get a couple of black flies in the finish but from a distance on a dark stage it would look great. I'm including the scratchplate and the J&D pick-ups. £40.00 delivered to the UK mainland. PICS HERE
20.
Spotted THIS on Ebay, Ideal for a 32" scale PJ project bass. Warning you'll need shades
Bugger, why didn't one of you buy it before I caved in! oh well I needed a new project to think about and if it's turns out to be basically sound then this will be it.
