1. Steve recently bought my MONO double bass case, great comms and super fast payment made for a very easy deal
2. I have a Soundlab hard case I no longer need, the good points are, the outside is like new and all the catches work fine, it pretty sturdy, on the down side the little strap that stops the case opening too wide has come away at one end, one half of the inside is a little loose but would be very easy to rectify if you felt inclined. The bit ringed in the pictures shows a area that has been slightly crushed at some point, there's no way of fixing that but it doesn't effect the cases functionality. No keys. Pics I'm not too sure what this is worth but I reckon [s]£25.00[/s] £20.00 collected from SE26 is a good starting point, I can can get a courier quote on request but I'm guessing that's not really a viable option on a large cheap object. R.
3. My basses don't really leave the house any more so I'm storing them in a guitar rack rather than cases to free up some space. Really excellent gig bags these, very strong and well padded with plenty of storage space for your bits and bobs, this is the grey version, it's grey with a slight blue tinge to it, the overall condition is excellent and all the zips work fully, the only slight blemish is the metal MONO logo has taken a knock at some point and the bottom right hand side got a bit dented, it only really shows if the light catches it in a certain way. £150.00 collected from SE26, I've probably got enough plastic and bubble wrap to cover it if you wanted it couriered, I can get you a price quote on request. 4. Dave (Nugget) made a very nice fretless 5 string with only a Piezo for a pickup, I had a go on it through some sort of external pre amp, it sounded lush, unfortunately I can't remember the name of the pre amp.
5.
PM'd
Replied to your PM
6. Soon after buying this M81 pre amp pedal I stopped playing so it's unused apart from testing it out when I bought it and today to make sure it's still in perfect working order. A quick look on Ebay and the cheapest I could find is just under a hundred and fifty quid. £120.00 delivered to the UK mainland, a bit cheaper if you want to come and collect it from South East London.
7. The fretboard extends well past the end of the neck and over the body, it's not unattractive (to me) but certainly detracts from any vintage value the neck might have.
8. I kinda like it but I certainly wouldn't pay that sort of money for it.
9. I had a 5 string Bongo for a while and loved everything about it apart from the looks so I moved it on in the end, as mentioned above I'd hang on to it for a little longer before deciding to sell it.
10.
I would definitely go with the stinger preamp, and if the bass works well when it's finished it might be worth getting a Seymour Duncan MM pickup for it.
I bought the pre amp to build into a pedal but never got around to it so it does make sense to use it in this build. I was considering a Nordstrand pickup but soon realised it would double how much I'd spent on the bass as you suggest I'll wait until it's finished before deciding.
11. I bought a very cheap Chinese 5 string Stingray copy last year just to see what you can get for just over £100, although amazing value as you can imagine it wasn't Exactly top quality but the body isn't too bad, jump forward a few months and I was lucky to acquired a well used and modified OLP neck so I decided I would try and marry the two together, a bit daunting for me as I'm not that practical. Here are the parts: I found myself at a loose end yesterday and got started by adding tuners to the neck, I then made a pigs ear of extending the neck pocket, with hindsight this wasn't the time to be using a router for the 1st time amazingly the neck fitted despite the rather inaccurate routing, I've had to shim the neck pocket though to get the action right. I then used my Dremel plus some files and sandpaper to modify the scratchplate, now that the neck comes further into the body the plate is a bit too long really but I might keep it like that as it covers up a lot of my shabby work! Here's where I'm at: Things left to do include, stripping and painting it white, replacing the fugly bridge with something a bit more MM like, redoing the weird 1 Volume 2 Tone control wiring, in general I prefer passive basses but I do have a 2 band Stinger circuit I could use in this, I also need to put a finish on the neck. It's never going to be a top quality instrument but hopefully it will turn out to be a perfectly serviceable backup bass. Don't hold your breath but more will follow as and when it happens.
12. Sometimes my love of bass playing fades and I spend my spare time doing other stuff consequently I don't visit BC as much but I've been around since the final days of Bassworld so I'll not be far away.
13.
I did just this myself about 6 months back , picked up an OLP mm3 5 string as a part exchange trade on here I'd strongly recommend one of these.
Glad you are still enjoying my old OLP, lovely neck on that bass so a +1 from me!

15. Great thread and excellent use of recycled wood.
16. Warmoth do parts that include a smaller body if you fancied putting a bass together that way. Here
17.
66 Jazz in Shoreline Gold, b&b rosewood neck, and both parchment and tort s/ps which I can't decide between! What would you do?
I vote for parchment Lovely looking bass.
18. Oops I didn't know it had closed down, I used to work almost opposite Coda but I left that job over 5 years ago. There used to be a Luthier in Luton that made high end custom basses http://www.luthierdirectory.co.uk/luthier/rim-custom-basses but I'm not sure if he does set-ups, could be worth giving him a call.
19. Have you tried Coda? I can't vouch for them as I've not used them, just remember the shop from my days working in Luton.
20. Amazing software and seems more intuitive than the expensive alternatives I've tried, love it, I happily bought a license.
