1.
That's probably too much information.
Fair point Mark
2. It's crowded around these parts
3. I have just discovered this Automatic Double Tracking plugin that certainly brings a new dimension to your guitar tracks without having to play the part twice. http://www.vacuumsound.de/plugins.html
4. I usually play through my computer which is linked to a Hi-Fi and the volume is set about the same as I'd have it when playing an MP3 which seems fair. My neighbour is a classical bass player and she can't turn her double bass down!
5.
A total delight, and the very rare dot/bound/lollipop variant, as you say. Lovely condition, just the right amount of wear and some delicious tort. GLWTS! Where's Rumple? I think this may be his YOB bass!
I was born in 64 Mark but I just love certain 1966 Jazz basses, this one ticks a loy of boxes GLWTS Gary
6. I've just started using Lepou amp sims in Reaper myself after recently getting a new guitar, pretty impressive sounding plugin, unlike my guitar playing which is rudimentary at best I quite like this free Studio Devil amp, a tiny bit on bass works well. http://www.studiodevil.com/products/british_valve_custom/
7. ...and I live disturbingly close to Mark (Discreet) Welcome to BC
8. Lovely bass Mark. As previously mentioned it's probably a 75RI judging by the built truss rod. GLWTS
9. This morning I did a bit more T-Cutting and then polishing, I'm giving my over all efforts at refinishing 6.5 out of 10 mostly for effort The final result looks better in the picture than it does in reality, in addition to anything mentioned above there's a bit of orange peel to the lacquer, maybe I should have lightly sanded it some more but I was worried about breaking through the thin finish. From a distance, looked at head on & in normal lighting it's passable
10. Lyle and I recently did a trade, my OLP MM3 bass for his Telecaster g**tar, he was a pleasure to deal with and even went to the trouble of driving all the way over for Kingston to the darkest depths of South London to complete the deal.
11.
Every build I do I have at least one of these kind of glitches. Most of them, as you say, it's best to just live with. Many times I've tried to tweak the error and simply made it worse! Looking forward to seeing the finished finish....
I did think about spraying a bit of paint into the lid of the can and using a small artists brush to tidy things up on the edge of the pickup route but as you say I'll probably make things worse.
12. I had one once and it was absolutely fine.
13. Welcome aboard from another SE Londoner. I once owned a 80's Tokai Jazz Sound bass, great instrument.
14. Another lesson learned today DO NOT tape the pickup cavities so close to the top edge that when you remove it it chips the finish, not really a problem on the neck pup cavity but it looks a bit naff on the exposed bridge one. I'm not starting again so I'll live with it (for now) and with that in mind I got on with T-Cutting the lacquer. Ordered some Autobright car wax from Ebay.
15.
Part ex with some cash your way ?
I might be I'll PM you.
16.
Looks pretty tasty from where I'm sitting, too. Nice work, Rumple!
Thanks Jim, appreciated.
17.
Looks pretty damn good to me!
Thank you
18.
Any progress? Any pics?
Here's a couple of snaps Andy, I'm hoping for a dry and windless weekend so I can get some more lacquer on there. It's never going to be perfect but hopefully will look OK from a distance once it's all done and polished.
