1.
Just out of idle curiosity, where did you source the pickguard, Dave?
Hi Mark, it came from this guy on Ebay, it's not as obviously celluloid as the Spitfire one you had on your Limelight.
2. Well the pickguard got all the way to the local sorting office then they lost it! after a lot of hassle and a couple of long phone call they finally found it! picked it up this morning, it's very nice indeed, was it worth the hassle and the cost, probably not Managed to score a reasonably priced second hand Seymour Duncan Antiquity 2 this morning, another US purchase so lets hope the Royal Mail don't misplace them, tax free would be nice too. I also got offered a 62RI Jazz neck by a forum member that would have been nice on this bass but unfortunately they've gone very quiet on the subject. That's all for now as I won't be fitting the guard until the pickup arrives.
3. Not tried them but would this be any use.
4. Your best bet is to buy a body as close to what you want then get it routed ofr the pickups by a Luthier or friendly BCer
5.
Honest and good... yes, I suppose we are.
There are exceptions Mark
6.
Very nice bass. Don't know why Fender never really did many (any other?) 32s. I've just got a 32" Squier Tele bass, but CAR not an option :-(
For a while they did these 30" scale Modern Players but no one has them in stock any more.
7. Do they do a blacker version? Looks lovely - congratulations.
8. I bought a Ray35 neck from Pinball it arrived quickly, well wrapped and in 'like new' condition
9. Nice - I wouldn't mind one of those at some point but I'm guessing they are pretty rare?
10.
You can always put a DFA switch on it if you remove the 4-knob.
It took me a minute to work out what one of those switches was
11. Mostly it's about re-sale value, if you drill the bass for a new pre then decide to sell it you are unlikely to get your money back on your total investment, the pre on it own would sell on here easily if you removed it at a later date but then you can't put the Streamer back to standard, if you aren't so worried about loosing some money and just want the best bass for you I'd go for the four knob.
12. I'm not a fan of traditional sunburst basses, but do have a greenburst fretless and I once had a very nice black to white burst 5 string Jazz. 60's P's should be sunburst.
13. It's like gripping episodes of an unfolding TV drama!
14. It would be interesting to know which one you prefer out of the 3?
15.
That's a very kind offer, but the I2M is the USB-only version so won't work with my module which needs 5-pin MIDI. Thanks for offering though!
Ah! that proves how much I know about such things
16. I have an i2M, I got it as a Christmas pressie but it's not really something I'd use so I have put it up for sale on here, if you want to borrow it to try out I'd be happy to let you if you pay the postage, absolutely no pressure to buy it at all, just send it back to me after you've had a try. Ideally you need a instrument that produces nice strong clean notes, fret buzz and dead notes are a no no.
17.
wouldnt Costa much either
18. My mate had coffee with him recently, maybe he should have got him to sign his Costa cup!
19. I've played a couple of ACG's one had a asymmetrical neck that was quite comfortable.
20. Try this thread
21. SR5's have 17.5mm string spacing. I had the Overwater Perception 5 I owned fretted in the end as it didn't really wow me as a fretless. It does sound like it's at least worth you speaking to ACG, I had one of his filter based pre amps, a very powerful tone shaping tool indeed.
