I've done a few variations on a theme for a decal, luckily I did two of each as the printer decided today was the day it would start to smudge the black ink, it's probably because the water slide paper is quite shiny compared to the usual inkjet paper.

Excellent review Mark, I'm now off to listen to the sound clip.
Re. the gap. Get hold of some wooden veneer (I have mahogany) and cut to shape and glue to the sided of the neck pocket. I've done it a few times on mismatched parts and it works a treat and is easy to cut/shape/sand etc....you can cut it with scissors no problem. Great build and I would have had that flame neck off you if I was a righty! D.
Thanks for the Top Tip and the kind words I'm left handed too but playing bass is one of the few thing I do right handed.
I constantly look at these just to get the surf green body if anything and upgrade everything on it and maybe a Status neck. Is it worth it?
I've owned a surf green full sized one, the whole thing is surprisingly very good, so much so I have the neck and pups out of another one on a bitsa bass.

I forgot to answer Marc, it was harder fitting the new neck as it wobbled about in the neck pocket a tad where as the previous one was such a snug fit that it stayed in place even when you turned it over to add the screws and plate.
So glad to hear you're getting on better with the neck Was it a simple enough operation to swap over? I too prefer Jazz profile necks, or the more modern P necks (very similar IMHO) EDIT: Re the gap around the neck pocket, I wondered about using a thin bead of decorators-type flexible filler? It won't harm anything, and will just take your eye away from the fact there's a gap there .... if it offends you Also, re Decal - if it were me, I'd probably put one on there - just to get that "look" up to you of course - maybe a very similar "faker" logo?
So far I've managed to live with the slight gap, mostly because it's a rough and ready looking body and I don't think your eye gets drawn to it, thanks for the tip though I may need it in the future. I'll have a play around with decals and see what I can come up with..... watch this space.
Excellent diary and project, Rumple. Well done!
Cheers Jim, it was fun to do and by far the best playing/looking bitsa I've managed to do thus far

I think you will find we have all got horror stories and/or recommendations for the various courier companies. My 2p's worth. Hermes = Very slow and generally quite useless, they've failed to collect on two separate occasions, another time they said they had delivered when they clearly hadn't, once a case was opened it miraculously got delivered 4 days later. UPS = Have proper employed staff, I personally haven't had any problems so far when using them.

Thanks for the info Ghost Bass. My OLP is as you say, 2 volumes and one tone but the Dimavery has one volume and two tones, two of the pick-up wires go to the 1st pot and the other two are just twisted together, I assume this means the coail are in Series?
Was in there last week. Purpose built rooms in a railway arch, has a slightly unfinished feel to it but the gear was good and all set up ready for us. Only downside is no decent boozer nearby.
Well I'm not going there then I'll take a hip flask! Joking aside thank you for the info.
It looks really, really good, Rumple . Great to hear you've found a neck to match it with a good playing feel...makes all the difference! Andy
Thanks
The scratch-plate sounds good enough to eat! I have a Fender USA P Pickup with greasebucket tone circuit going spare at the mo, if that's something you could use?
I used all the yellow things that mark the kitchen worktops, shame they always stay stained where as the scratchplate eventually returns to white! To be honest I have no idea what a greasebucket tone circuit is

I bought this neck because I love the look of 1966 Jazz Basses, the ones with bound necks but dots not blocks on the fingerboard, I fitted it to my bass for a few weeks but as much as I adored the look I couldn't get on with the P bass size of it, it just feel alien after decades of Jazz Basses. Standard Fender pocket size, nice snug fit on the P bass body I had it on. It's essentially brand new but I matted down the gloss finish a little with imitation wire wool, I didn't remove the finish so it could be buffed back to a gloss if you wanted that look. There are a couple a dings in the headstock as I thought it looked way too new for the bass it was attached to. I lemon oiled the fretboard and it's all the better for it. I filed the nut slots down a little from stock as I find new necks always have the nut to 1st fret action too high. Truss rod at the heal end and it's of the Allen key type. As you can see there is some nice flaming to the maple, the binding is slightly creamy looking rather then stark white. [s]£75.00[/s] [s]£70.00[/s] £65.00 posted the the UK mainland, less if you want to collect if from South London. Original Ebay listing is here Possible Trades: Elephant Ear Hipshot Ultralites, Stingray Eq, SD Antiquity P pick-up, Zoom B3, Classic SR5 pick-up, White Jazz Bass body or Telecaster guitar body. I couldn't get on with the P bass neck, it looked the nuts but felt wrong to me after decades of Jazz Basses so I've replaced the neck and now it plays like a dream, absolutely loving it! sadly it's not quite as snug a fit as the P neck was so there is a tiny bit of a gap between the heal and the body but hey it's an Abused Precision so it doesn't really matter. I've taken some of the gloss off but I might take some more off the back of the neck at some point, I'm also considering getting a thumb rest for the G string side and a strap btton for the headstock for purely aesthetic reasons. Decal?

Where to buy 66 Fender Jazz style lollipop/oval/butterbean tuners?
Rumple replied to Mike's topic in Accessories and Misc

Anyone in London used http://www.kafristudios.co.uk/ ? I'm going there next month and wondered what to expect.

I used to live in Kent, now I live in SE London, I didn't move they just made London bigger when I wasn't looking! Welcome to BC

It works the other way around so I don't see why not. I have a J&D neck on a Squier body.
Mill Hill Music Complex might be good as well if any of your guys travel out from London on an evening. Although I haven't been there for over ten years. I used their bass cabs and if I found a problem when we went in I just asked them for a swap. They used to lend amps out so had a few lying round. They're still going. That means something.
I used them for years, they have build some new (small) rooms, an office, a shop and a dance studio recently but I prefer the old tatty rooms, room 7 to be precise
