1. Just listening to some live Eurythmics, there's lots of nice 80's octaved fretless Steinberger bass action going on
2. I can't help with spec I'm afraid but I'll be watching this build diary with interest, if the necks Kiwi had for sale were 5 string one's I'd have snapped one up!
3.
My pedals run at 9-12VDC not 18V, 18 V would damage them
My mistake, apologies for getting that wrong.
4.
Thought I hadn't made it up: http://pages.ebay.co...nts-policy.html
I stand corrected I didn't know it was now compulsory to accept Paypal, they really do want to squeeze as much as they can out of a seller.
5.
Amazing, sold if for £375 then slags off the buyer for having the temerity to want to pay by PayPal (which I thought you had to accept on Ebay)! Chutzpah of the highest order!
I don't think you have to accept Paypal but I would have jumped at that if it were me!
Only 10 screws, the scratchplate and the strings need removing in order to change the batteries! Bargain!
I hadn't thought of that
6. ... my OLP was worth so much if I added a new decal and pups http://www.ebay.co.u...=item35e1d56e22
7. He did reply quickly to my initial enquiry but as there was some question over him being able to get a dot and bound neck and lollipop tuners he said he's get back to me but never did, The GAS has passed a bit now so it's saved me a few quid.
8. Nice choice of colour I contacted Mark a while back about a light relic 66 Jazz in Shoreline Gold, he said he's look into it but never got back to me.
9. I like the fact he's honest about the amp in a humorous kinda way.
10. It would be handy if you could see some of the Luthier's previous work before committing to a build.
Here's my latest Jazz, another '61;
Gulp! that's rather nice
12. Tricky decision, I have found that some of the combinations sound very similar to each other. Are you in a position where you could try the 6 way switch as a test then if you don't use certain settings re-wire those ones or drop down to a 4 way using the best sounds?
13. I have a passive bass with 2 hunbuckers each connected to a 4 position rotary switch. 1. Off 2. Single Coil 3. Parallel 4. Series Lots of combinations producing a huge variation in tones from a passive set-up, it's a bit different from what you are after doing I admit.
14.
So glad these are not 5ers otherwise I would have yet another project that I will never get round to!
Same here Owen GLWTS Kiwi
15.
Ah great, thanks for that. I'd posted the EJ / SOAD mash up on facebook a while ago and it went down well. I didn't realise it was from an album. Is it of the same quality as this track?
It's patchy, some of it works very well other bits aren't so good, definitely worth a listen though.
16. Just received a Joyo pedal from Jon, a very smooth transaction, pedal was well packed and in excellent condition.
17. It's one of my 'go to' tunes for a bit of fun whilst practising at home, I've never played it with the band though due to the singer not really being the shouty type
18. I played this bass when it was Marks (Discreet) and it's lovely thing indeed.
19.
Isn't this same bass as this one? http://basschat.co.u...-olympic-white/
No it's not the same one.
20. I worked just around the corner from The George for over nine years and often popped in for a pint or 3, it was the last Luton pub I visited on the way home when I left the company. Good luck with the gig.
21. Here's the mash-up album that's on. http://www.neilcic.com/mouthsilence/
22.
Thanks for the feedback. Excuse my ignorance but what's the problem with 18v power? having to use an extra plug or does it cause issues elsewhere?
No problem as such I just wanted a very simple & compact pedal board so I now stick to Boss 9v type pedals.
23.
They run on 9v too, they're just a bit dirtier.
That's a good point I did try that but I wasn't as keen on the tone at 9v.
24. I'm pretty sure (but have no proof) when my VR6 Golf was stolen a few years ago, they picked it up with a tow truck in broad daylight, no one would bat an eyelid even if the alarm was going off.
25.
I've never heard of these Dave Hall pedals before, they look interesting. Can someone that knows about these things me please;
Yes I think a DHA would suit you down to the ground, I've had a couple an really like them, top quality valve pre amps, ultimately I moved mine on because of the 18v power supply they need and I'm not keen on the hand painted look of them.
