1.
I love the concept but was also finding the pick guard a little busy. (Although on a plain bass it would look all kinds of awesome). I'd go for something a little plainer. If it's Steampunk I'd also avoid any plastic TBH, maybe copper, leather or wood?
A leather one would look great on this bass if you can find one.
 2. If you don't need fancy anything fancy you can buy water slide paper for you ink jet printer on Ebay.
 3.
It's the feel of the neck and board that i love on my RW...comparable you think ?
I'd say so, although my RW is even more worn then usual and has had a new fretboard (long story) so isn't a bog standard Fender anyway.
 4.
Has anyone/Can anyone compare a Limelight to a Fender Roadworn. I have a RW Jazz that I adore, it just feels spot on in every way. BUT I'm a sucker for a custom colour and matching headstock.
I've played Discreet's Limelight and I own a Fender RW Jazz, I love my RW but the attention to detail on a Limelight is excellent and you get to choose your favourite spec and colour with a Limelight!
 5. A little too worn for my tastes but there is no doubting that is a thing of beauty
 6.
Would you consider trade for my POD XT plus some cash your way? I'm in London over the weekend so could potentially meet.
Thank you for the trade offer but it's not really what I'd be after.
 7. I did the same thing and tried to think of something these would fit that I own! I had a 5 string set a few years ago and they were great sounding pups.
 8.
I've had several from Howard and they were all first class. I really hope and pray he's all right.
Me too, there was a thread on here about his retirement due to ill health.
 9.
Yep. Sent him my original plate so he could match it up exactly (or so he said), massive gap around the neck and the cutout found the pickup was both really jagged and in the wrong position.
Sorry to hear that I've had 3 from him over the years and they have all been spot on
 10. A.. .some interest but it amounted to nothing BUMP.
 11.
For reference here's a WD on my Sea Foam Green 65 Precision...
Lovely bass.
 12.
I had a Bass Doc tort scratchplate for my P Bass that looked really nice, I would have kept it if it weren't for the fact that the scratchplate was so poorly made.
Really? that's the 1st bad word I've had re Bass Doc's work.
 13.
One of the best pickguards I ever bought was a Stentor red tort. Not cheap by any means but very nicely made. http://www.guitarbit...toiseshell-p699
To my old eyes that Stentor looks pretty good, what do you all think? http://images.guitarbitz.com/images/products/1308066781-32648000.jpg
 14.
I've got some of all of these - real ones, WD, Fender reissue tort and some odd bad printed ones. The real ones still look best to me, but WD is the best of the bunch after that. Can't speak on Spitfire as I haven't got one yet - although I have one on order - not a cheap option though.
Normally I'd be up for whatever looks the best but this is a cheap bitsa P I'm putting together so I still have a Precision in the arsenal when I come to sell my '76 I couldn't justify a new WD or Spitfire. What do you think of the Fender RI one's?
 15.
But not a jazz mag...
No it would be too much of a distraction
 16.
Buy a clear one and print your own background.
I quite like the idea, I might do that on one of my Jazz basses but using an old comic as a background.
 17.
It depends what you are putting it on..??
I'm not sure what the body is, I'm guessing it's a cheap Squier.
 18.
My belief is that US ones tend to have a recess cut in the plate at the heel for adjustment whereas jap and mim ones dont. The screw holes do tend to vary slightly
Thanks for the info, I hadn't thought about truss rods! the neck I have on order has heal adjustment and the body doesn't have an access slot
 19.
I think red can be too much... I had Sims make me one up and I wasn't sure on the colour, but they knew what colours to stock and when put on the off-white body, it looks fantastic... whereas the red one from WD would have looked terrible... hindsight and all that...!!.
Such a tricky thing to get right, any other colour is easy
 20. Another question for P Bass experts: What is the difference between scratchplates on US, Mex and Squier's etc? is it just the position of the screw holes? I have no idea what make or model the body I've got is.
 21.
I've had one of the other patterns of the Dangleberry material and it was a print, albeit a decent quality print under a clear layer so it's not going to wear off like some printed pickguards. Apparently EY music in Hong Kong have brown celluloid tort, but it's a thin layer under a clear surface and their red tort is printed (I read this on another forum, so I can't confirm this).
I've just had a look at their brown tort, the pic on the web site is a bit small but it's not bad looking from what I can tell, it would be nice to see one a close up.
 22.
How come the bass doc is out?
I read on here somewhere that Howard (Bass Doc) is quite ill and has now given up, it's a real shame and I wish him well.
 23. I love the neck on mine, it's one of the things I really like about it from a playing aspect. GLWTS
 24. Thank you for the picture, the argument for getting a WD is quite compelling!
