1.
Pretty much everybody except WD Music and Spitfire has cheap printed tort though. Looking at the bevelled edge on mine from WD, you can tell it's been made by swirling a load of different colour plastics together the good old fashioned way as the pattern goes right through. It smells a bit funny too so is probably proper celluloid!
Both you and KiOgon have made a compelling case for the WD, maybe I'll wait and see what the bitsa bass is like once it's been put together and if it has a good vibe and is a keeper I'll invest in a WD one.
2.
I got mine here and it fits perfectly to my MIM's http://www.dangleber...k&searchSize=12
Thanks, they are a good price but it's not easy to see what the tort looks like from the tiny pic on their web site
3.
Furry muff This guy on ebay does a decent cheap plate; http://www.ebay.co.u...=item2c81697d23
Thanks for the link, If only there was one somewhere between the brown and the red one, maybe I'm being too fussy or too tight fisted, I guess I could buy one of each and see how they look in the flesh.
4. That is nice but £30 more then I paid for the body
5. Whenever I've needed a new scrachplate in the past I've got them from the Bass Doc that way I knew it would look great, fit and be reasonably priced but with him sadly out of action I'm going to have to get a replacement tort plate from somewhere else, any thoughts peeps? it's only for a battered bitsa bass I'm putting together but it would be good to get one that looked nice, I've looked on Ebay and most look horrible, too red, two brown, too much contrast...
6.
No idea where it ranks in the "best" but I have the MXR M81 and it has done wonders for my sound
I quite fancy trying one of these, it seems to have exactly the right amount of features for me.
7.
Yes, you do! Get Mark to make a replica of my (Rumple's) 1976 Precision, then sell it to me later! http://s734.photobuc...s?sort=6&page=1
Or you could buy the real thing from me so I can get a vintage Jazz instead
8. Not sure about Thomann but as a VAT registered freelancer I've bought stuff from Adobe and Wacom in Europe and the price at checkout is without VAT, it's deducted when you put your valid VAT number in.
9. Nice work I have a few parts I'm thinking of taking the shine off of using hydrochloric acid, I've watched a couple of videos on YouTube and it seems straight forward but I was wondering if you had any tips? I was planning on getting some patio cleaner from B&Q it's only 10% hydrochloric acid but I assume it will still do the job but take a bit longer.
10. Great pedal but as my band has disintegrated recently it's kinda surplus to requirements, it's the newer version with the small black knobs, great condition, 2 strips of Velcro on the bottom, sorry I don't have the box or manual. £90.00 inc UK mainland postage. Possible Trades: Zoom B3 or B1Xon, a pre amp pedal but it must be 9v and have a mid control, decent Jazz or P Bass pups, quality tort P bass scratchplate,
11. Could you confirm what P pup is in the photos the Aria or Encore? they look identical in both shots. Cheers
12. I bought another J&D part from Alan, this time it was a neck, it arrived well packaged and very quickly, as before comms were excellent.
13. I meet up with Jack at London Bridge to sell him my TC Ditti Looper, very nice guy and I couldn't have asked for an easier transaction
14.
Has anyone else noticed that Jack & Danny wasn't the best choice for a name or is just me? Rhyming slang and all that..
I'm a bit upset mine only says J&D I'd quite like it if it said 'Jack and Danny'
15.
.. @Rumble, there is a free version of Sample Tank 3, but only the paid versions support importing “legacy” instruments :-(
That's a shame I use an old free version SampleTank 2 with 3rd party samples, they must have changed that feature
16. The Sample Tank player used to be free, you only paid if you wanted the library of sounds, maybe that's changed now though as it's a few years since I downloaded it.
17.
I went to see Counting Crows for the fourth time 2 weeks ago. Never heard the bass all night.
I saw them at the Roundhouse recently and the bass wasn't too bad.
18.
level 42 at royal albert hall recently wasn't much better bass sound wise, was up top at the back then though.
I was at that gig, in row 5 and dead centre, what surprised me was that a lot of the time a keyboard was playing booming root notes, luckily I was close enough to hear the sound from the bands backline but I'm imagining it didn't sound too good once you got further back in the venue.
19. I play them all from time to time except the 1976 P, I'm not sure if it's because I'm not a Precision Bass person or the fact that it still feels like it's Discreet's even though I've owned it for years
20. I bought this on a bit of a whim back in the summer and don't use it at all so I'm moving it on to raise funds for a bitsa bass I'm putting together. £65.00 posted to the mainland UK. Pedal only, It's in excellent condition, Velcro on the bottom, no box or manual. Possible trades: Jazz Bass neck with blocks and binding, Fender Road Worn Jazz Bass neck, decent PJ set of pups (Wizards would be good), aged Fender tuners, Fender bridge with groves in the blocks, 3 Leaf Audio The Enabler, Zoom B3, MXR M81 Pre Amp.
21. These are really great, but I would say that as I own one
