1.
I need advice! I'm ordering 2 basses from mark , one is a 64 jazz in candy apple red with matching headstock with light relicing, the other is a 61 stacked knob jazz in sunburst with heavy relicing (like bobby vega one) Which one should I order first??
Get the lightly relic'd one first so I can see how it looks
2. I bought a Squier body and hardware from Gerry, it arrived quickly, well packaged and exactly as described - Perfect transaction
My beauties: Fender - 1966
That's a cracking bass
4.

Is that an original finish? I've never seen one in that shade of green before.
5.
Wow, that Zoom's completely passed me by. Looks awesome. I think I might nab one of those and see how I get along with it. I love my Boss ME20b but if this does it all but with a smaller footprint it might be a winner! Alex
I can't praise the Zooms enough, there are a few minor quirks with them but nothing major IMO but do a search on BC and you can read loads of useful info before purchasing one, I've had a B3 and now own the MS60B, I'm amazed at just what you can do with one small pedal.
6.
The Fishman Pro-EQ II preamp has 4-band EQ plus a sub-bass control on the back. They crop up used for not much money. Recently discontinued. http://www.fishman.c..._family_web.pdf
I think Zoom have this as one of their models in the B3 and MS60B either of which are well worth a look.
7. He seems to have sold umpteen over priced guitars made to look a bit like famous players axes.
8. Welcome to BC, I get up to Worcestershire from time to time as my Grandfather lives there.
9. It's not happened to me but my mate and band guitarist met up with Jimmy Page recently for a coffee and a chat!
10.
Why do you need it to clip on? Whats wrong with a pedal one?
That's was my first thought. I've just bought a £6 3 band on board eq from China and I'm going to put it in a pedal case, if I like the general idea I might swap the gubbins out for a more upmarket eq.
11.
Anybody got a Limelight that's not been aged?
+1 I've just enquired about a very very lightly aged Jazz so it would be good to see a virgin Limelight before it gets the relic treatment.
12. I'll have a think about it, the Brother-In Law often hordes boxes and he might have something I could use. It's good that the bass is light for posting but it's obviously quite fragile. I will PM you if I can find something.
13. Thanks for the offer but I actually have a Ditto looper, not that I've worked out how to use it very well
14. My band that recently imploded was made up of my friends one I've known for nearly 40 years! as I'm the common link between all the members it made the break-up a bit difficult for me as I didn't want to loose friends over 'musical differences'
15. Welcome to BC. Nearly feel asleep on a train last night going from Charring Cross to London Bridge, I'd have ended up in Hastings if I had!
16. I had one of these for a while, it sounded and looked fantastic.
17. I'm less then an expert at these things but I believe devices like the SFX Thumpinator cut all the inaudible low frequencies that often move the speaker but don't add to the sound, by removing them it's meant to tighten up your low end sound.
18. I sometimes take the risk of having to pay VAT, duties and handling charges and order from the US as it's a lottery as to whether you will get charged customs etc. or not, if the order slips under the radar you get yourself a bargain.
19. Dug out a pic of my old Musicman Sterling.
20.
Yep be careful on this my medium relic is um.....trashed and the metal work is dustier than preferred. Mark did give me the option of waiting for another but I took it. Do I regret it.......nah.
I'm glad you don't regret your Limelight even if it is a tad more relic'd then you would have liked
21. I only started using one when I joined a covers band and some songs needed those extended low notes, over the years I have grown to love them, I tried a BEAD tuned Jazz briefly and that worked well too.
22. Thanks Owen, out of interest where is he based?
23.
Look up retro169 on facebook. He has done a couple of nice finishes for me. Both relics, but he is cool to do no relics as well. Very reasonable. Cheaper if you strip it yourself.
I've just been looking at their work on Photobucket, there's not a lot of info about the company on their web site though, could you tell us more about your experience using them please?
24.
I asked for a 'light' relic job and it's still quite heavy IMO. I really love it but if you want a REALLY light relic job, make sure you let him know :-)
Yes even the light relics I've seen on this thread (including yours) would be too much for my taste, especially the metalwork, some tarnishing is good but I wouldn't want rust, I have one of the older Fender Road Worn Jazz Basses and that has about the right level or distress in my book.
