1. I have a hardly used MONO GS1 strap in Ash Duraweave™ that I don't get on with, it's the short version. I'd like to trade it for a short Neotech Mega Bass strap or sell for £26.00 delivered to the UK mainland.
2. Recently had some garden furniture delivered and it came in a huge (approx) 60cm x 69cm x 95cm cardboard box which could be ideal for shipping a combo or cab, I'll keep it for a few days before breaking it down for recycling just in case someone wants it. I'm in Sydenham SE London and you'd have to collect it from me.
3.
These do seem to be making the rounds. People rave about them being good for not much money, but they demonstrably do not seem to be 'keepers'.
I'll be keeping mine until I have enough money for an early 70's Fender Jazz, even then I may keep it as I like the colour
4.
DO these have a 1.5" nut ? It looks a bit wider in the pics to me.
I make it just a smidging under 1.5"
5. I now own Mark's (Discreet) J&D and I love it, if I were to change anything I'd prefer a shallower depth to the neck as it's a but chunky for me but that's just me being fussy as it a great bass at any price.
6. Good on ya, I hope it finds a worthy home
7.
My last comment would be that pickup casings can be different sizes, so make sure you measure in all directions (including the screw holes) when working out if a replacement pickups will fit. This is especially the case with 5 strings, when they use everything from 4 string to 6 string pickups in some basses!
I'd add to that by saying not all Fender/Squier neck pockets are the same size either. I had a Squier WMJ 5 that was very good and only about £150 second hand.
8. I bought a Fender strap from Sid, it arrived super fast and is in as new condition
9. Revised rear routing, as mentioned about the bass will be passive but at least this way there is the option of going active in the future.
10. It's a Quick Time file so you either need the QT plug-in for your browser or alternatively right click on the web page to download the whole page to your desktop and convert the .mov file to mp3 using some free software from the internet.
11. In the old days that audio clip was on the Blockheads web site as an mp3, for some reason it's up there now as a QT movie but audio only which seems a bit daft, it's handy having the MP3 in the same folder as the original tune, the backing track sans bass mp3's and the dots so I can tell refer to it to see just how inaccurate my take is on the line
12. I'll be playing it in anger for the 1st time at band rehearsal on Sunday, it's not going to sound much like Norman and if the band go any faster then the original I'm gonna be in all sorts of trouble
13. I think they are the same and can be changed but the US supplier kindly does it for you before they ship the tuners, it's worth checking with them before buying to be safe.
14. Pretty sure it's a Jaco model and came like that from the factory. I had an early 80's Tokai Jazz Sound for years it was bloody excellent.
15. BTW they are real Hipshots just made in China not the USA.
16.
Could either of you be kind enough to link to the seller for these licensed Ultralight copies, please? Sticking that into the search doesn't come up with anything. Ta.
Try this: http://tinyurl.com/hipshotlink
17.
I've mentioned this before on another thread somewhere, but I bought my Licenced by Hipshot Ultralites off eBay shipped from the States. The licenced ones are made in China (I think) and look the same, weigh the same and, most importantly, work the same as the USA versions (I've had the USA tuners on an Am Standard I used to own). They work out at £60 all in delivered for a 5 string set instead of £28 per tuner which is what the USA ones cost here in the UK. The licenced Ultralites come on the Lakland Skylines so you know they're tip top.
I have also had many sets of the US Hipshots but I recently picked up a set of Licensed ones at a fraction of the cost and I can't really tell the difference between them and the American ones.
18. Just been catching up with Dave on the progress of this build and he's sent me some new pics, off the back of them he's going to increase the size of the decal as I think it looks a bit lost and he's kindly agreed to make the rear cavity a bit bigger, it's fine as it is as the bass will be passive but I'd like it a tad bigger should at some point in the future I decide to add a pre amp. The scratchplate in the pictures is a template not the real thing. Colour swatches have been sent off to a second paint supplier as the 1st one let Dave down. 19. Looking forward to seeing some more detail
20.
but on occasions he has used Jazz Basses of various makes
On one of the YouTube clips from that gig you see a late 70's style Jazz Bass headstock pop into view, it's on a stand by his amp so you must be right.
21. I had no idea hyphens were old fashioned! so dots are considered OK or will they age to? the reason I ask is my business has a hyphen in it's domain name.
22. They all have the word sex in so I'm guessing they all get a certain amount of misguided traffic On a serious tip I'd say the middle one out of the 3.
23. Andy bought some tuners from me, quick payment and excellent comms
