1. I recently picked up a J&D Jazz Bass and I'm surprised at how well made it is, I don't know a lot about them but they are cheap and look great if you like blocks and bindings on a Jazz. http://www.dv247.com/guitars/jandd-jb-vintage-1975-bass-guitar-black--200784
  2.
I like grilled cheese over tinned peaches on toast, but you don't have to.
Add a little chopped red chilli and that's a winning dish
  3. Nice, I can't remember seeing a 70's four bolt in white before.
  4.
May one remind you that the first unsubtle hint regarding buying if couriered was made by my humble self on May 28th Or put another way, officially requesting first dibs please, if you do decide to courier. Merky buckets. Bump.
Tis the truth Sir
  5.
I don't seem to be able to open this file on my Macbook as it's a .ipb file, inexplicably. I CAN open it on my iPhone. I tried opening it with iPhoto but no luck. Tried changing the file extension to .jpg but no luck either. I just want to print it out. Any suggestions? BTW it's a great transcription. Played along with it and it appears perfect! Thanks!
It's a pdf in reality so you just need to change the .ipb to .pdf
  6.
still no shipment only collection ?
At the moment it is still collection only but I may have to reconsider my options if it doesn't sell very soon.
  7. Awful looking piece of driftwood Mark, you might as well drop it off at my place the moment it arrives and promptly forget you ever owned it
  8. Yes it is still available, I've been so busy lately that I haven't even thought about the cab being for sale!

    Octaver?
I ended up with a Zoom B3 that way if Octave isn't the answer I can try other things.
I like the 'Pitch' setting on the Zoom rather then the one actually called 'Octave' ...... I think.
  10.
Hotwires arrived and I love 'em. Feel like flats but sound like rounds. What's not to like?? No dead strings in the pack, either. Thanks for the recommendations.
11.
Or wire them in parallel for extra long life...
Even better
  12. One advantage of using a double battery box is that if you decide to stick with 9v you could always keep a spare battery in the other slot.
  13.
Nice. Think this is this a 600W 4ohm cab?
Yes it is
  14.
I remember your old build, still the best looking jazz I ever saw.
Thank you I was tempted to build something extremely similar again but in 34" scale and a lot lighter, but that would be covering old ground.

    Octaver?

If you don't mind digital effects you could look at the Zoom MS60B, it has a few nice pitch shifting options plus a lot more including a handy tuner.
  16. Nothing much seems to be selling at the mo', if you are in no rush to sell leave the ad live and bump it once in a while and see what happens, lovely bass so bound to sell at some point. Sadly I was after one of these for years but couldn't find one for love nor money! alas I now don't have a justifiable need for one. Good Luck with the sale.
  17. Very nice indeed and not something you see come up for sale second hand very often.
  18.
Plenty of pics along the way please?
I will do my best, Dave will not be starting working on it for about a month due to other projects including the repair on my Fender RW Jazz This is a pic of the neck which will be having it's fingerboard replaced with either dark rosewood or ebony with dot markers and a binding. This is a Photoshop swatch of the dirty pink, depending on the quality and calibration of your monitor it might not be an accurate representation of the colour, especially with all the white surrounding it in the post. 19. As you may or may not know I had a 5 string Jazz built for me a few years ago ( http://tinyurl.com/ng5n5wa ) it was a thing of beauty and sounded great but I later discovered I prefer 34" scales length basses plus it was quite heavy and I suffered after every rehearsal so I sadly moved it on. Jump forward to 2014 and I'm again hankering for a 5 string Jazz, I also love the process of designing and having a bass built for me so over the last 9 months I have slowly accumulated some parts to have another 5 string Jazz bass made for me and I've asked the talented Dave (Nugget) to build it for me. It's going to be kinda Vintage Fender-ish but mixed with other ideas taken from more modern copies, so.... Dirty Pink Nitro, somewhere between Shell Pink and Fiesta Red with some dirt on it, to be exact R.170 G.133 B132. Cream pickguard - no bell plate. BBOT style bridge but a bit heavier. Soapbar Humbuckers. 2 Rotary switches for coil/pick-up selection, PIO cap on tone, Volume. side mounted jack. 34" scale, 17mm at the bridge, 45mm at the nut. Rosewood fingerboard with cream dots and binding, vintage gloss tint, back of the neck matted down a bit. Hipshot Ultralites. Not sure about the decal yet, I'll probably go for 'Homage Jazz Bass' again but in a script font, not the Fender one though, font suggestions welcome. Parts Purchased: Ebay bought unbranded and unfinished 5 string Jazz neck. Ebay bought 4 string unfinished Alder Jazz shaped body. Ebay Chinese made bridge. Basschat bought Delano dual and quad core soapbar humbuckers. Hipshot Lic. Ultralites from the US via Ebay. R.
