1. Very nice indeed and not something you see come up for sale second hand very often.
2.
Plenty of pics along the way please?
I will do my best, Dave will not be starting working on it for about a month due to other projects including the repair on my Fender RW Jazz This is a pic of the neck which will be having it's fingerboard replaced with either dark rosewood or ebony with dot markers and a binding. This is a Photoshop swatch of the dirty pink, depending on the quality and calibration of your monitor it might not be an accurate representation of the colour, especially with all the white surrounding it in the post. 3. As you may or may not know I had a 5 string Jazz built for me a few years ago ( http://tinyurl.com/ng5n5wa ) it was a thing of beauty and sounded great but I later discovered I prefer 34" scales length basses plus it was quite heavy and I suffered after every rehearsal so I sadly moved it on. Jump forward to 2014 and I'm again hankering for a 5 string Jazz, I also love the process of designing and having a bass built for me so over the last 9 months I have slowly accumulated some parts to have another 5 string Jazz bass made for me and I've asked the talented Dave (Nugget) to build it for me. It's going to be kinda Vintage Fender-ish but mixed with other ideas taken from more modern copies, so.... Dirty Pink Nitro, somewhere between Shell Pink and Fiesta Red with some dirt on it, to be exact R.170 G.133 B132. Cream pickguard - no bell plate. BBOT style bridge but a bit heavier. Soapbar Humbuckers. 2 Rotary switches for coil/pick-up selection, PIO cap on tone, Volume. side mounted jack. 34" scale, 17mm at the bridge, 45mm at the nut. Rosewood fingerboard with cream dots and binding, vintage gloss tint, back of the neck matted down a bit. Hipshot Ultralites. Not sure about the decal yet, I'll probably go for 'Homage Jazz Bass' again but in a script font, not the Fender one though, font suggestions welcome. Parts Purchased: Ebay bought unbranded and unfinished 5 string Jazz neck. Ebay bought 4 string unfinished Alder Jazz shaped body. Ebay Chinese made bridge. Basschat bought Delano dual and quad core soapbar humbuckers. Hipshot Lic. Ultralites from the US via Ebay. R.
4. Before seeing the video I would have said it sounds a bit like a Rick to me but I'd have been way off track
5. I bought these for a new 5 string Jazz Bass I'm having built for me but in the end decided to go for Hipshots instead so these are for sale, I purchased them new from Ebay (Stratosphere) in the US and sadly got stung for customs and VAT this time 4+1 configuration. [s]£48.00[/s] [s]£44.00[/s] [s]£40.00[/s] [s]£36.00[/s] £32.00 delivered to the UK mainland (Hermes) R.
6. I bought these second hand for a 5 string Jazz bass build that's about to start soon but at the last minute I changed my mind and I'm going for humbuckers instead so these are for sale, AFAIK they have never been used. [s]£70.00[/s] [s]£65.00[/s] £60.00 including UK mainland postage. R.
7. I bought this recently from Ebay to use on my pedal board as a DI, although it works very well indeed and adds a little warmth to the signal the fact that it needs 9v AC rather then DC means using a separate power supply which is something I want to avoid so I'm moving it on. When I bought it it didn't come with it's wall wart but I'll supply it with one I had knocking around. Velcro dots on the bottom but they are easy to remove if you are not using it on a pedal board. Amazing bit of kit for not a lot of money. [s]£32.00[/s] £28.00 posted. R.
8.
Good player but a nasty, thin and fizzy piezo pickup sound on this one. I've never heard a piezo pickup that sounds good. Much prefer magnets.
Weird as I love the tone of the bass in that clip, it sounds fat and warm through my amp and speakers but understand it may not be a tone everyone likes
9. Nice tone and playing. I always got to this clip when I need to listen to some nice fretless. http://youtu.be/ycN9x_5MqHQ
10. Direct from the Status website, they are reasonably priced. I know some people have had issues with a dead string in a set, not something I've noticed but worth knowing before making a decision on whether to buy a set or not.
11. FYI Mark the bass of mine you played last week has Status half wounds on it.
12. Sunny Sunday morning BUMP. Plenty of interest from various quarters but nothing solid so far.

I seem to be making a habit of buying basses from Mark, it makes sense though as he's an absolute joy to deal with the bonus for me is that he only lives down the road! Thanks for the Jazz
14. I do like an unlined fretless maple fingerboard.
15. I bought a Hartke Bass Attack pedal from Rayman, it was sent really quickly and great comms.
16. I bought a DVD box set of The Wire from Ray, very smooth transaction, great comms and the the whole package is in great condition
17. That is lush.
18. PM'd about the Hartke Bass Attack.
19. I bought a Diago power supply from Ryan, product is in excellent condition and the deal was as easy as anything
20. I've owned loads of 5 strings and the neck on the SR5 suits me perfectly, it's my benchmark for how a neck should be but for some the string spacing is too small and they prefer 35" scale on a 5er.
21. Very nice. A small aesthetic change if it were mine would be to change those knobs to the plastic old fashioned Fender type.
22. I think you need a compressor that is able to do peak limiting.
23.
so I may as well have bought a 5-string set, binned the G and tuned my 4-string B-E-A-D.
A route I've thought about taking.
24. I thought I'd mention that my 212MNT is now up for sale on Basschat, the thread can be found here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/237099-vanderkley-212mnt/
25. I had one for a few weeks and thought it was fab especially for the money, I moved it on quickly because I only like 17mm string spacing on a 5er and the VMJ was too wide for me. Have Fun
