Nice bass, If you fancy a US made SVT Classic: 9/10 with new (less than 10hrs use... EH power tubes and a soft cover)... got to ask...
Thanks but I'm all sorted for amps and cabs, I'm really after a sale if at all possible but a Fender style 5 string or a vintage Fender Jazz might tempt me to trade. -

The story is I picked this up last week in a trade, I do love a SR5 and it's been fun playing it over the weekend but realistically I don't need 2 (I'm not parting with my teal '96) and my Firecreek custom build will be finished in a couple of months so this should really be moved on. According to the web it is a 2000 model, has a lovely birdseye maple neck and has the extra cost matching headstock. Over all it's in very good condition with the exception of a couple or 3 dings and a bit of string wear on the top of the pup, no buckle rash. 9.6lbs on the bathroom scales. It's set up with very low action, ideal for effortless playing, if I was keeping it I'd probably raise it a tad but that's just my preference. £850.00 collected from South London. It comes with a sturdy fully working but old non original hard case so delivery by courier is possible. I'd rather sell this outright but would possibly consider a trade against a nice looking 5 string Jazz type bass (34" scale with 17-18mm string spacing only) or a pre 74 Fender Jazz with cash adjustments either way. I'm a bit low on Basschat upload space so if you want more pics or bigger ones PM me and I'll sort them out for you. Cheers. The idea is to have a four position rotary pot for each of the two pup with : 1. Off 2.Front Coil 3.Both Coils 4. Back Coil along with a master volume and a passive tone control. I thought this might give some nice variation in sound without it getting too complicated to remember what does what.

Dave popped in this morning on his way to Poole! He had my bass with him, it's now been fretted and the dots added to the side and front of the neck, it's really starting to come together and although it wasn't set up as such it was playable and felt great, it's about 8lbs now but that's without any knobs or electrics so will edge over that with varnish as well. I'm still planning on keeping the bass passive to start with and the diagram below is the way I'm thinking of going, there are probably better ways of doing it but I think this will work well for me.

Met up with Kev yesterday and traded my Overwater for his MM SR5 on what must have been the hottest day of the year for train travel or driving a cars with no aircon but weather aside it was a smooth transaction and Kev was a joy to deal with. Enjoy the Perception
That looks wonderful!

+1 on that ...love the woods and the shape, nice touch on the FB too..
Thank you, Dave is doing an absolutely fantastic job of bringing my ideas to life.

It's been a while since I've updated this thread and as Dave has made a lot of progress recently and supplied some new pictures yesterday I thought it time to rectify that. I think it's looking really nice and the additional good news is it's only 7lbs 2oz without the tuners, knobs, frets and finish so it's going to be sub 8lbs for sure when it's finished, hopefully with the small headstock and lightweight tuners it will balance nicely as well. Since the pictures were taken the dots have been added to the the neck and Dave is going to be putting the frets in this week.
Really? Mmm interesting
I have since changed my B3 for the single pedal version the MS60b as it has all I need and doesn't take up much room
MICE! They love to make nests in your speaker port, chew up the carpet and speaker cone for bedding, and eat through your wires.
Gulp!

Cheers everyone, I appreciate all the replies, there is enough possible negatives to convince me not to go down that route - best start looking for a table cloth for it
-
Thanks everyone so far for your input, just to add some detail, the rented garage would be in a separate block so it would get pretty cold during the winter in there, I have no idea how damp they are, the cab has a thick Rocsolid cover. I love the idea of using it as a table when not in use but I don't think I'll get away with that
-
So I've finally run out of space and need to do something about it, one option is to rent a garage to store some of the stuff I own including possible my bass cab, I've always kept them indoors and I was wondering if storing them in a garage is a really bad idea or not? it's an expensive cab so I don't want to find it gets knackered in 6 months time. What's your thoughts/experiences? Cheers R.

Despite suffering from a broken thumb Dave made a very good start on the neck this weekend.
If it is good enough for Juan and Tommy it is good enough for me.
That's a fair point I've also realised I have a Jazz type bass with no scratchplate or control plate either (rear mounted pots) Whatever you decide I'm sure it's going to look great.
-
Back in the 80's I always took the scratchplates off my Jazz basses as I preferred the look but now I think a Jazz can look a little naked without a scratchplate, our very own Bass Doc (Howard) could knock you up one that fits for a very reasonable price.

Andy bought my CS-3 with the Monte Allums Opto mod, fast payment and an all round smooth transaction. Cheers
