What are your views on the vinyl s(pl)urge?
Rumple replied to Barking Spiders's topic in General Discussion
I do enjoy listening to my old vinyl once in a while, a mate gave me some half speed mastered LP's a few weeks ago, certainly on my basic sound system I couldn't tell the difference and you have 4 sides to play instead of two! I get more enjoyment out of picking up used CD's from the charity shops theses days. -
Kinda works, the song I tried it on sounded a bit weird after processing but I guess it could be a useful tool every now and again.

Stuck the last of my medium scale SX PJ's up for sale

Well it's finally got to the point where I have no choice but to adopt a 'one in, one out' policy and having picked up a new 5 string on Thursday something has to go! I have two 32" scale basses so........ Medium scale SX Gypsy Rose that started life as an orange and yellow colour until a few years ago I decided to re-finish it, I got so far in with the stripping and decided in my opinion it looked rather cool as it was so I added a couple of coats of varnish an old decaI I had left over and a Road Runner sticker and left it at that! not to everyone taste I know 😄 there is a bit of a split along a glue joint in the body near the neck plate, see pics, not sure if I caused it with the heat gun but it's remained the same over the years so I don't see it as a problem. It has Hipshot tuners, a pair of nice sounding Calig Neodymium pickups, one of Kiogon's solderless VVT looms and a no name black bridge. Slight earth hum, never bothered me enough to do anything about it. Strung with D'addario nickels, I think they must be a long scale set as I noticed while doing the photos that on the A string the bit where the string thins out starts before the nut 🙄 Easy to play, not heavy, balanced, sounds bright and punchy. I'll probably part it out and keep the pickups and tuners which is a shame as it's a really cracking little bass. Any questions feel free to ask and I'll do my best to answer them. Collection from SE26 preferred or failing that I could do a meet up at one of the main London train stations. R.

Picked this up from @redbandit599 on Thursday 🙂

Recently found out about Leon Sylvers III, who did a good job or rocking a Rick whilst singing and dancing.

Another ACG 6 String... (when do you admit you have an addiction?)

A real head turner. -
Love everything about that, the bass playing, bass and it's tone plus the music is excellent, listening to it again 👍

I used Status Half Rounds on my basses for a while, as mentioned by others they were closer to flats than rounds in feel and sound.

Lots of missing pics from this thread understandable as it's now over a decade old, time for you folks to post some new ones, not that I need any more temptation 🙂

For a while in 2020 I had an old Mac 3,1 that I upgraded as something to do in the first lockdown, I purchased this memory for it from eBay it fitted but the system never recognised it, not sure if I bought the wrong kind or it's duff. See the close up pic of the box for info on what it's meant to be. Free to anyone who's willing to pay the postage or collect it from SE26. R.

The Mini is plugged into a KVM type switch so I can share a keyboard and Wacom with my PC, the HDMI is connected directly to my Eizo monitor but I think I'd rather have the two systems separate, work PC, music Mac.

Thank you, I wasn't expecting it to run any better on an Air, the Mini is fine for my needs but I'm willing to sacrifice ports for the portability of the Air 😊

Any updates BC'ers? I have an M1 Mac Mini at the moment that I use for Garageband but I want to change that for a M1 Air and move up to Logic.

I picked this up not too long ago as thought I was going to need to do some recording on location but that project has died so I no longer need this. Great little thing, use it as a digital recorder, 4 stereo or 8 mono tracks, has some built in effects for guitar and even a drum machine, you can load up your own WAV files. Works as an audio interface for recording to a computer. Says 'sampler' but I'm not sure how that works. When I got it one of the plastic fader knobs was damaged and loose so I replaced the two on the right with grey ones, I assign stereo drums to those tracks so it kinda made sense to have them both the same colour, they are a little bigger than the black original ones but work fine. Plenty of demo's and info on YouTube. I only really used it to test it out so I'm not up to speed on using it but will try and answer any questions you have 😊 It's in good nick and comes with the power supply and I'll also include the SD card I bought for it. £120.00 delivered to the mainland UK via Yodel or come and collect it for a bit of a saving. I'm not surprised, I have an old Boss CS-1 somewhere that I seem to remember the sound being very squashed on.

Rare as a very rare thing but Fender Japan made a Short scale Jazz Bass the JB62SS.

@pierreganseman thank you for contributing, I had no idea you were here on BC 😊 I need to liquidate some assets but I'm keen to get my hands on a Dingwall in the not too disant future and I'll get in touch if i can't find a used one. Cheers

That's great info, thank you.

Has your taste in tone changed over the years?
Rumple replied to Rayman's topic in General Discussion
Yes me, I no longer play in a band and only do recording at home these days and hanker after a brighter 'modern' tone. -
Thank you for replying that's good to hear, not sure about the Ferret though 😂
