1. I put a series switch on a 5 string Jazz bass I had and I really likes the 'bigger' sound it produced.
2.
You just have to look in the for sale section to see "good" 70s Jazz basses with pickup routes that look like Ozzy Osbourne did them with a spoon.
3. Here's a rather poor one taken just now on my phone but I can take a better one with a camera and some daylight tomorrow if you like? Thanks
4. I've gone back to using rubber Grolsch bottle washers so I have no use for these. Black complete set £6.00 including UK P&P Chrome Complete set minus the 2 screws £5.00 including UK P&P
5. Started out life as a natural body with aged tint, as much as I loved the look of this I had to move it on as it was sooooo darn heavy.
6. I had one for a while, really lovely amp and I only moved it on to go lightweight again and also save a bit of space as the AG was in a rack case so bulky.
7. Ordered the right D'Addario's this time, I might give the GHS/Lakland flats a go at some point though as they sound interesting. Thanks both of you.
8. Sods law I just dropped this MM SR5 scratch plate getting it out the draw and snapped the top pointy bit off it also as a tiny crack between the edge and one of the screw hole. A steady hand, a dab of Super Glue and it should be sorted. It's matte black/white/black. £8 including p+p in the UK
9. Tortoise shell Stingray 5 scratch plate in good but used condition, it's made by WD and is a redder rather them brown looking one. [s]£23 £20 £18[/s] £15 including p+p in the UK.
10. Picking the bass up from Lawrence tomorrow Today I finally found the picture of my great uncle, this was taken back in the early 90's just after applying the veneer.
11. I've just noticed the D'Addario's I bought are 'long scale' but they do a 'super long scale', grrr... I've obviously purchased the wrong ones
12. Funnily I've just been on their site and noticed they were out of stock, I'll have a look at GHS.
13. That's a lovely piece of wood, I'm also a bit of a fan of 34" scale basses with 17mm string spacing at the bridge.
14. Hi Jack, That's definitely the sound I like, not as bright and clanging as rounds but not the full on dull thud of flats. Where did you pick those up from?
15. Apologies if this topic has been covered somewhere else on the forum but I couldn't find anything specific. Recently I have grown to love the sound of the half rounds that I've put on my SR5, although I'm not that taken on the B string of the Status Hot Wires which seems disproportionately dull, anyway I thought I'd put a different brand on to my Overwater which is 35" scale but the D'Addario XL's that were delivered today are too short, the taper on the string starts before the nut So does anyone use half rounds on a 35" scale bass and if so what brand and what do you think of them? R.
16. Thanks for the offer, I'm hoping to go up and collect it on Sunday.
17. One arrived in the post today, not tried it out yet though.
18. Does that mean you are both bringing along nice basses? I'd love to try a Firecreek and also lay hands on Discreets Precision.
19. Biscuits yes, cake no.... well that depends on your POV on Jaffa Cakes
20. I've been hugely disappointed with Hyde Park as a venue the last couple of times I've been there, it was so quiet it lacked any atmosphere at all. Not that I'd ever go and see Bon Jovi
21. Bought some CD's from Paul, quick delivery and they are in great condition.
