1. I haven't read the real book, I doubt it's as funny as the alternatives
2. Have you seen '50 Sheds Of Grey' on Twitter, very funny at times.
3. Good point made by humapuma (welcome to Basschat by the way) I've owned and still have some nice 35" scale basses but I really only feel at home when playing my SR5's which are 34", when first getting into 5 string I didn't think it would matter much what the scale length or string spacing was, I never worried about it with 4 strings, so I bought basses based on their looks or how they sounded thinking I'd get used to how they play but I've come to realise what suits me in a neck andwhat doesn't. So I'd add that when trying out basses make sure you get to try, 34" 35" even 36" if you have big hands and string spacing from 17mm to say 19mm, once you know what you like it will narrow down your choices.
4. It's a great compressor with a character of it's own but doesn't do heavy compressing, Ovni (see link in previous post) rates it a 3:1, you might also look at say the MXR M87 which by all accounts is quite transparent sounding and does peak limiting, I'm keen to try one at some point.
5. I don't think you will regret it but I'd image you would get a good deal of the cost back selling it on here if you decided it wasn't for you.
6. Nice Roscoe LG just popped up in the 'for sale' section, just a thought I have no connection to the seller One thing to consider with 5ers is string spacing and scale length, some people are fine with any spec but it can be a big decider for some.
7. Excellent, you will have to let us know how you get on with it.
8. Thanks for the reply, lovely looking bass that is the wrong end of the country to come and try out. Good luck with the sale.
9.
I'd say the only disadvantage is having to power externally with an 18v adaptor adaptor
It will run on 9v, never tried it with this pedal so I don't know what difference it would make but I had a DHA VT1 (valve pedal) that was meant to run on 18v but I always used 9v with and it worked fine.
10. Thanks lowdowner but they are too heavy, they have discontinued their Neo cabs.
11. To be honest they are a new discovery to me in the last couple of weeks while doing some research into lightweight 2x12's I didn't realise they were cab maker of the moment :s
12. Ordered a strap one afternoon it arrived the next morning, Mark has ordered me custom Nordstrand pick-ups in the past - no hassle. Oooh and he sells those lovely Vanderkley cabs that I've taken a shine to
13. This is them. http://basschat.co.uk/uploads/monthly_08_2011/post-597-1312626182.jpg
14. I got some similar for a build I had done for me a couple of years back, I think they came as a special order from RS if you wamt details I'll try and find them, they were a lot cheaper then the rip of postage charges from Sadowsky.
15. I'm not sure why you are getting a clicking sound but one thing that I get is that even when my nails are cut very short they still touch the strings when I play, it been commented on that I sound like I'm playing with a pick! as chrismuss says it's become part of my sound, FWIW I use the side of my thumb if I really need a more old school soft sound.
16. I don't use it for any heavy compression, for me it's doing it's job if it keeps the B string on a 5'er from booming out and brings the G string from sounding too weak and quiet, so just evening out the levels a tad, it does this with a bit of added 'thickness' which I prefer to a totally tranparant pedal. The switch moves the centre frequency??? from the original guitar pedal they make to a more bass friendly one. Have you read this? http://www.ovnilab.com/reviews/diamobass.shtml
17. I have one that I use as my main compressor over any of the others I own, it's pretty transparent but not as clinical as the EBS I used most of the time before I got the Diamond, it's so hard trying to discribe a compressor if you were closer I would have lent it to you for a day or so. I'm keen to try the MXR pedal the one with the meter on it at some point.
18. This Australian Ebay seller has plans, I have no idea if they are any good or not as I don't know anyone who has used them, might be worth a try though. http://tinyurl.com/cvetpk2
19. Thanks for the info Martin, the 2x12 sounds interesting, maybe I'll have to drag myself up to Warwick to try one out.
20.
It's something Larry does at each gig, I missed out by 1 last time, so I was determined to make it happen this time. Glad you like my playing.

Larry tends to do it at all his gigs... he breaks into a jam and anybody who "wants some" can queue up in hope that they make it up the stairs to the stage.
Ah I see, it's the first time I've seem him live, twas an excellent gig.
21.
Hi guys, my name is Joe Sam. I was lucky enough to play bass with Larry Graham on Monday night. It really was a dream come true. If you like what I did then check out my bands "Cut the Funk" and "Prison Break".
Nice playing. How did the opportunity to get up on stage come about?
22. Traded my Roscoe for Russ's SR5, plain sailing all the way, a pleasure to deal with. Cheers!
23.
hence the purchase of a Vanderkley 2x12
Funnily enough I was looking at those on the Bass Direct site yesterday, especially the 2x12, do you have the one where the speakers are stacked on top of each other or offset? I have a bit of an aversion to red which puts me off them a little though
24. It was a great night out, we hung around in the bar afterwards while Larry signed some merch, he even signed my mates Sainsburys receipt
