1. yes... it looks tons better than the LPB one, love the neck tint. Burst with a pearl guard please.
2. Lawks!! Congrats...
3. Current gas is for a RoadWorn 50s Precision... why? Cause I was born in 57...
4.
I've never had the chance to play a bass with a j-retro in - are they worth the money? I've read great reviews and I know people love them.
J-Retro + DiMarzios = OMG!!! Monster tone... almost sub bass. I tend to get as low as possible while retaining the definition... I don't know what the top end is like as I've not been there.
5. I put DiMarzio Model J's on mine, the ones with the cream covers, although the added J-Retro helps a lil bit!
6. Seems reasonable... I got 1300 for my 78. cry.
7.
Why the non-original bridge, though? Don't get that.
Wilkinson do a two saddle bridge... cheap as chips too. Poss make it string through. Rather tempted.
8. Yes... I like the neck tint, always thought the LPB version was a bit too pale on the wood side. Prefer a slab body for this one but hey...
9. Yes... saw that over at TalkBass... should have been that colour in the first place, would look even nicer with a white or pearl guard, but the black is teh sex. Nice.
10. My Ashdown MAG 300 combo has been at the shop since October last year... Luckily a friend has loaned me an Ampeg.
11.
It's a crazy question with no answer.
yes it is!
12. We usually turn up and have a free bar... when I was doing Jazz gigs we'd get about £50 each for a four piece, prob about a three hour session with a couple of breaks. That was about 15 years ago now so say £80 - £100 each? Could do with some of that! Bob
13. Looks like one of the newer MiM necks... I don't see why it shouldn't fit.
14. As a 1957 too I have major gas for the RW P...
15. I love those stacks... Guitar Village... 17.
I may be in the minority here, but I say if people wanna slap, let them slap! it's just another way of playing the instrument. Obviously, listening to a roomful of people making a din by slapping at a trade show or bass day won't give you a particularly representative example of it's merits, but that shouldn't make you think it's some kind of anti social behavior any more than people who tap on bass, which personally I'm not a big fan of but can appreciate that some people have found their voice on the instrument by playing it that way. Lets not get small minded here, people!
No... I can't abide slap bass or the bass players responsible.
18. Why oh why do these kids keep doing it... bloody Stanley. I can't do it either.
19. Heh... if you try one you'll want one... hope you've some heavy cash.
20. They look okay... no drilling and all. I'm a floater.
21. Superb! Fretless sure is a lot of fun... I play mainly Drum&Bass with mine. Make me miss my Ray... oh well, I'll get another one day.
22. Give it back to him and forget all about it.
23. Absolutely... go for it! I play by ear... my ears are sore.
24. Allparts do a nice Ricky bridge, you'll have to do some routing though... looks nice!
25.
I see a bit of a trend forming here,Fender,sunburst,rosewood,mojo..........................it must mean only one thing.
Yes... we're all old gits!
