1.
Probably worth pointing out that it was pap that made him tens of millions of quid and cemented his presence in the memories of an entire generation. How much did Brand X earn?
A fair point indeed.
2. Sorry... I couldn't post a comment on utube. What a load of utter garbage. Back to his pap worst of the eighties. Fake motown drivel. Tis a shame because I quite liked Brand X, the first album anyways.
3. Cor... I must be nearly as old as Herbie... I'd love to have a go on that!
4. That takes me back... sniff.

Nash Basses

They are nice but they are pricey for parts basses.
6. I prefer the CVJ...
7. Heh... I also likey drinkie!
8. Yes... Gav is a knowledge on the subject, helped me out a bit with mine as I had the allen key adjusters for the mutes instead of the thumbscrew... turned out to be a later EB mod. Si... you'll enjoy it for sure, hope it doesn't break the bank! Bob.
9.
i learnt recently that a genuine pre-EB does not have a dot marker at the 21st fret. I checked my own '79 and it's true. This one appears to have a dot-marker there - so I suggest tread very carefully indeed. It almost looks too good to be true this one. Most of them should have a lot more wear than that. Pirce asked may give you a clue as to whether it's too good to be true. Also, the bauckle rash on the back looks a bit too clean to me and if it had that much rash, I would expect a lot more wear on the front.
Hmmm... are you sure? Here's a pic of my old 78... I was under the impression it was a 77 for some time. The serial will get you near. I removed the neck in the end, to check the date stamp. The stamp was in the neck pocket, not the heel.
10. Heh... I'm brassed anyways. The only gripe I had about mine was a very sticky neck. Apart from that the most comfortable bass I've had.
11. Yes... missing mine like crazy after dropping in on Si's thread... very happy with my Jazz though. I'll just have to forget about them!
12. Looks fine to me, bullet, 3 bolt plate, thru body... in much better nick than my 78 was by the looks. Superb! Can I has?
13. Looks in great shape for a pre EB... pricey I'll bet.
14. I reckon you'll really enjoy the CVJ defretted, you know you'll want to keep it. I was thinking of doing a replica using the CV as a base... vintage tuners, stacked knobs for starters.
15. Hey Dave... yes, the CV Jazz is ideal for conversion IMO. I play a 62 and the neck on the CV plays very damn near it, cept for the glossy finish of course, which i like. I had the frets stoned down to the tangs, so now it just has metal strips like a lined fretless. I've also dropped in a J-Retro and it's an absolute dream to play and sounds like a monster. I mainly use it for Drum&Bass type stuff. I'd go for it. Then you get to keep your CV Jazz as well as putting your own personal stamp on it. They are nice basses. Bob.
16. I can only feedback on the J-Retro... superb. Output is crazy... 9v lasts long time... I change it about once a year. John's a great guy to deal with. I recommend to every JB owner.

18. This thread is meaningless without piccys of your lovelies.
19. I get a nice sound from this como... Jazz fretless with J-Retro and DiMarzio's through a MAG 300 1/15 cab... superb deep lows, almost sub bass.
20. Hasn't fallen apart yet Paul?

23. Nice one Waz... God I love Jazzers... if I had the spondies I'd buy a CV Jazz for a replica project and a burst RW Jazz... I already have a 62 fretless.!
24. I'd love stacked knobs on my old 62 but I dropped in a J-Retro...
