1.
I found them to have a soft, indistinct character and have always ended up taking them out after a few days to regain note definition, especially in the attack of the note. That said Ymmv IMHO IMHO etc etc etc etc everyone's ears and tone goals are different. They look so damn cool too.
That's odd... I reckon they're loud and detailed... must have a rogue set.
2. Well after playing the new P on fri with the Barts, my feedback is they sound nice and rich, well defined with a touch of growl (fretless), quite loud and punchy ... was impressed overall.
3. Absolutely... I would never swap out the pups on a Ray. The stock pups on my fretted P sound great. The newly acquired fretless P came with the Barts and they're fine, wasn't a factor. I'm sure I would have been happy with the stock ones. My Jazz was recently converted to active and sports DiMarzio model Js. If you really want to try some Barts I would prob put them in the Squier.
4. Very pleased with the sound of the Barts in the P... very nice indood.
5. Yes... I have to agree that the J-Retro is a monster, especially fretless. Great for Drum & Bass.
6. Loverly... Audere? How's it sound? Can we have a Capri Orange club?
7. Charlie Jones (Goldfrapp) has one, so I reckon they're okay.
8. http://www.bravewood...pic66Jtype.html That is bloody gorgeous.
9. OMG! yess sir!
10. Ask John perhaps?
11. Hmmm... I have a set of Barts in my fretless P... gets it's first outing this weekend, sounds great at home practicing though.
12. Agree... my 4k is over the top... ! Damn inflation.
13. heh... I was going to go around 15 to 2000, but could go for a lot more, a collector would prob not wince at 3 to 4 grand. Mint mind.
14. Yes... drums are great throughout... some crazy japanese guy! It's my favourite MK album.
15. I tried one and it sounded great! Dunno if it would sound any different to a wood one though. They look super cool and are well fabricated. Thought very hard about getting one for my 78 and doing the neck swappy thing, then everything went black and I woke up in the sink!
16. Yes... love the opening track on Unorthodox behaviour... super!
17. I'd have a bravewood in a flash... I've spoken to John and he's a nice guy to deal with... I was going to go for a mid reliced jazz replica but my money ran away. My gas is cured now however. (secret fender)... don't tell the missus.
18. Absolutely old boy... I've done plenty of gigs where no one has noticed or cared... I just love the freedom. Now get those frets orf that JV!
19. Take a listen to this... Inspired me to defret my 62 Jazz, although I have been playing fretless on and off since the early eighties, I was about to give up playing alltogether, then I found this album! RIP Mick... Thanks for the gong link... I've just rediscovered Mike Howlett from another thread. Not fretless though.
20. I found a Rembrandt and a Stradivarius in the loft the other day... Unfortunately Rembrandt was crap at making violins and Stradivarius couldn't paint for toffee. Apologies to Mr Cooper.
21. I'm no expert and I'm not here for an argument but I know for a fact my 62 Jazz sounds better now than it did when I bought it in 75. I have no real explanation save for the J-Retro, defret and DiMarzio model J's... weird huh?
22. Superb... a real sixties clone. Love the machines.
23. Guitar Village has one for £1786! I really wish I'd bought the Sonic CV Squier when I had the chance.
24. I've just gone the opposite...new unlined fretless... why did I wait so long?
25. Bloody lovely... sonic blue is my fave colour.... 63AVRI. I love the look of the bling on these and have them on one of my Ps... not the new secret one though. Not yet anyways. Too much sponds for me... I've cured my P gas for now. Get yer bird to buy it for you!
