4.
Got any pictures of the Jazz with J-retro? Si
it's a late 80s/early 90s Jazz bass standard, which has extended cutaways and a 22 fret neck. original plate/electronics plus bridge and pickup covers included, and a Fender gigbag. the J-Retro was modded from new to sound like the preamp John makes for the Marcus Miller basses and has two-tone knobs (chrome and black) this (shop) pic is from before the J-Retro and shows the covers
Got to say i agree but you know that is the pic of a prototype which they probably chose the wood very carfuly, and maybe even made a few till they got one with such lovly grain that works with the shape. Im sure the production version will be quite hard to find with such a good looking grain patern.
the production versions will be painted

 11. I think they were a bit like the Lakland Skylines, in that they were "made" in the US from parts that might actually have started life elsewhere (Mexico perhaps ? )
 12.
Does anyone know of a system I can use to label the controls of my new custom rack mounted mixer? I guess the alternatives are 1) Opaque white marker pen 2) Plastic strip lettering (which looks tacky) 3) Engraving (at 50p a letter) At the moment, I've used chinograph pencil but its not a permanent solution by a long way.
paint pen ?

 17. I remember Steve Lawson showing me that the Hipshot (or equivalent) on his Modulus would go pretty low, can't remember if it'll go all the way to B without the risk of clashing with the next tuner though.
