1. Doesn't say which one other than it is a 1995 model, but there is a personal review of a 4-string one on this site. Go to Guitars>Dean Bass. And I agree - it's not an Edge
2. Not sure which model but there is a 4 string version here. Need to scroll to almost half way down the page.
3.
I joined my first band before I could play.
Same here - I had an acoustic that I knew a few chords on and some friends formed a band. They asked me to join and play bass so went out and bought a beat-up Kay Jazz from a friend That was 37 years ago...
4. Next time you go shopping can I come please?
5. Thanks for that - mine is only getting used at home in the foreseeable future so at that price they are worth a try. Cheers
6. Bought mine around six weeks ago. Everything works and it's great fun. Unfortunately the winding on the A string is uneven at the nut end (for around five semitones) so when I stop the string low down it buzzes. Told the company I bought it from and they said they would get their supplier to send a replacement. Three weeks later nothing had arrived so I phoned again and they checked and said that the supplier had sent one but it must have been lost in the post (was coming from abroad). They were going to put another in the post. A parcel arrived yesterday from Brussels... with a spare machine head in it! Phoned again and waiting for them to get back to me. I'm thinking of getting some replacement strings and keeping these as spares (plus the replacement when/if it arrives) but they are rather pricey. Still, I have been told it will sound even better with good strings on it
7. Bit late I know but I have one of these and the necks not like that at all - as straight as you would expect. Unlike one of the strings... but that's another story. Do have a spare machine head at the moment though
8. Thanks for that - I will have a look at them, and I had a read of TB last night which gave a couple of other suggestions
9. Beautiful - just what a Jazz should look like
10.
Welcome. (Used to live in (or as Alex would say, "near") Brighton. That is all.)
Wasn't "Hove Actually" was it? Sure that's what is written on the signs...
11. Wow - he's got another one!
12. Thanks - yes it is 3/4 DB length
13. Well it does have 4 "Elite" strings with it - that must up the price considerably. Try dismantling those and selling them by the inch - extra for the ball ends obviously
14. Recently bought a Stagg EUB which I am having some fun with (never played EUB/DB before) but have a bit of an issue. Noticed when it arrived that there was some buzzing on the A string. Upon checking found that the winding on the string is uneven, so if you stop it at the wrong point it buzzes. This is only in the lower five semitones of the string. Got back to the company I bought it from and they said that they would get their suppliers to send me a replacement. Three weeks later it hadn't arrived (was coming from overseas) so contacted them again and was told that it had been sent but they would ask them to send another. Two and a half weeks later (today) I received a parcel from Brussels containing a machine head! Phoned the company I had bought it from who said that they would contact the supplier again (though I am starting to lose the will to live right now...) Anyway, I have decided that in the meantime I may as well get a new set of strings for it and keep the originals (and the new one if it ever arrives) as spares. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced replacement set suitable for this bass? Not looking for high end as this is more of a "for fun" thing, but would like something that sounds goodish.
15. Not too far away - about 25 miles along the coast - ok, it's Bognor (well someone has to live there ). Work in Shoreham so am quite close to Brighton for a lot of the time.
16. I liked that so much when it came up the first time...
17. Well "palissandre" is rosewood, but "mache" appears to be lambs lettuce... So, "presented with lambs lettuce in rosewood". Definitely a Jazz then.
18. Wow - since when did Fender do a 6 string Jazz 'Tis sunburst though, and there may be a hard case...
19.
My absolutely mint Perception Pro Deluxe 5 sold at £895 (both on Ebay & then here) if that's any help
Certainly did - and wonderful it is
20. I was going to suggest the OP contacted you if you didn't see the thread (though I expected you would) - and I thought that price looked a bit low on the site. My PM suggested that Perception and Evolution weren't too far apart in prices so it's nice to know I wasn't too far out
21. Further to the PM I recently sent I just looked at the Overwater site and there is an Evolution shown there under the recently sold basses - EVO00001, The price they show on the site for that one is £1395. It doesn't have the matching headstock so that would up the price somewhat, but Absolute's price seems a bit high.
22.
Stupid question time.
The only stupid questions are the ones you don't ask
If you defret the neck, what do you do about all thin gaps left by the missing bits?
This has already been answered in two different ways, but when I was considering doing this I found this site. I then decided that if I did get it done my bass was too good for me to try as a first time so will get it done professionally. However, would be interested to see what people who have done it think of the ideas on this site in case I do it to a cheaper bass in the future.
23.
So whats the average price of a 4 string Musicman stingray.
Might not be the average but have a look at this
24.
gotta say, that Lawrence Cottle stuff is awesome.
+1 Downloaded it last night and love it.
25. Glad it's not just me - I would buy the Squier over the Vintage (given everything else was equal*) just for the reason that it wasn't relic'd. *And if the Vintage was better I would wait for something else
