1. no problem - at my age I sometimes think my eyesight (or is it mind) might be going
2. I've been looking at those as well, so will be interested to hear any comments. Is that review in BGM? There is one in the Guitar and Bass mag I picked up a couple of hours ago which seems to like the Vintage, and I notice in "The Competition" section they mention the Squier VMJ and say it is discontinued. Must admit that I would prefer five strings (and there is one I keep going back to look at Hugh ).
3.
Personally I dislike the Kaiser Chiefs and find their music annoying (no offense to anyone who likes them). What I don't understand is why such a mediocre band would need such a high end instrument. I'll probably get a bit of stick for what I just said but it's how I feel.
perhaps I had better sell my Overwater - I don't even reach mediocre
4.
Probably just me, but I can't get past the Jazz headstock on an acoustic bass, I think it looks naff.
Glad I'm not the only one - just looks... wrong.
5. Shared birthdays... ummm... Squid Vicious? Explains a lot about my bass playing Still, there is always Nick Drake. Oh...
6.
I wanna know what this one is like if someone can review.
Haven't used one but there is a review of it in this month's BGM
7. I had forgotten this thread - I bought a Tascam MP3 bass trainer from them a week or two or go. Excellent service and price - arrived the day after I ordered it.
8.
and would be willing to sell a few inches...
Thought the spambot had got in again then Happy birthday Stu - may the coming year be good for you.
9.
BTW, I contacted a supplier of the ancient swamp kauri that was used in that guitar I posted earlier. They want $6500 (£2500) a cubic metre for the most dramatically grained stuff because there's only a limited supply.
You could make 60 solid bodies out of a cubic metre - that works out at around £40 a body. Assuming you only wanted to face the body you would get many more thus making them cheaper - down to between £10 and £20 per instrument. Admittedly you probably wouldn't be able to use them all but even so Maybe it would be worth buying a cubic metre, sawing it up and selling it on
10. I borrowed this for a couple of weeks from CFA (home use only) and it worked fine - excellent condition. My only problem was deciding which of the effects to use
11.
If he manages to sell it for even the £40 start price, then he's acquired a Bigsby for £22 + a cheap bridge + some strings. That's probably not a bad deal, actually.
And even better if you take the postage into account
12.
I'm afraid that due to horror stories with postal services, that the bass will have to be collected.
Nice looking bass, though it might help to say where you are
13. Mo Foster made a single string version of this years ago - have a look here
14. Sorry to hear about that Stu - good luck with the sale, awesome basses.
15. Saw Jaco in the title and thought it might be fretless - but never mind Are you willing to post?
16.
I agree the proofing ... ... really needs to improve
Though this is a common problem among many magazines (and as somewhat of a perfectionist I don't like to see them). However, at least they get the title right. My wife regularly peruses WHS for new magazines and saw one recently called "Angels and Fairies" (which thankfully she didn't buy). The title was missing the "L"...
17.
Most tidy! If it wasn't for the lined board, I'd go for this!
Exactly - why are so many fretless basses lined! Look so much nicer unlined.
18. Good luck with your search - there is a lot out there and lots of useful stuff here. And from Wikipedia Nicolas Godin plays a red Fender Mustang (though he may well play other basses as well). He's mentioned at the bottom of the list of players.
19. Too far for me to collect but the pics don't seem to be working
20. I went in to work on Monday and one of my colleagues told me she had been to the Southwick Beer Festival over the weekend and had seen a really good band. I asked who they were and she told me they were called Burning Organ...
21. Haven't seen any suggestion that it does and Ebow's faq gives instructions on using them with active pickups so I would think it ok. Have a look at this Oops - sorry, this
22. omg that is beautiful - why do you do this to me?!
23. Don't know anything about them but Google found these. I believe there are people here who have bought from Bob Gollihur.
