I think some would argue that some of the price tags they carry, it should be the bass that adapts to the player.
Totally disagree with this - if it is a custom instrument then yes, it should be built to be exactly what you want (providing your luthier knows what you want). But a boutique bass I see as being more like a high end car. You get one because it does what it does, not so you can change it to do something you think it ought to be able to do.

Saw that earlier - is a bit pretty Seem to be a few nice looking basses there at the moment. Sign of the times maybe?
How about this short scale Epiphone SG from GAK ? http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com/en/469
I showed her that one and then showed her a video of Free so she could learn to do an Andy Fraser impression. Will have to take another trip down to GAK and try one out.
Its hard to believe it hasnt been done!
Just happened to be browsing at Ishibashi today and they have a white Epi thunderbird for around £185 - would need a new fingerboard and scratchplate though
I had an IGB Spirit bass as a first bass. It was god awful, stick with the Rockbass IMHO you wont go far wrong with a Warwick. Japanese vs German design? The latter wins every time. Col
If it was for me I would agree - but my wife is quite small and struggles with the scale length. That's the only reason for looking. Though I think my Cumbrian design OW is better than either
Aw never mind, it was probably rubbish anyway. Honest. When I see the model designation 'IGB', I always read it as a word rhyming with 'Digby'. Is it just me?
That makes it better - wouldn't want an Aria igby Have to persuade her now that she does want a Fender Musicmaster...
I'll reply anyway. I had an IGB60 as my first proper bass and it was an excellent starter instrument that I occasionally pine for.
Thanks for that but that probably makes it worse! This one had a EMG P pup retro-fitted.

Don't worry - someone just bought it BIN

Anyone have experience of an Aria IGB 30? Looking at a short scale version of this, and think it would be better for my wife to mess about on than the Rockbass Corvette she's using at the moment.
-
Looking through some of the guitars it makes the basses seem very reasonable

I know he's not to everyone's taste, but though this was worth a look. Also shows a good use for a Zon VB Personally I love his stuff and could listen to solo bass all day (probably down to me having lost the upper end of my hearing). The video quality here isn't great, though I recently bought his instructional DVD ( like I'm ever going to be able to play like this!) which is much better. It's more of an insight into his techniques and basses while he plays four tracks (this being one of them and the person holding the third bass is much prettier than here)
Er.... huh??
One of the apps on my iPhone - just tried it through my amp and it works fine. Quite a reasonable low B considering

I emailed asking what make it was and suggested that it was Jazz shape and not Jaguar. This is the reply I got. "Im sorry but I cant help you on the authentierty as I purchased it about 25years a go as a fender but did not do any research on its back ground sorry " So not a lot of help there then!
I'm in Wakefield , West Yorks - but I fear the bass won't be for much longer as someone's already 'subject to contract' so to speak. Besides - you'll have got them cheap hob nobs from Aldi and you'll only try to swap them for my McVities the minute my back's turned.......................... ............. ... I would !
Oh well - was rather a long way to go from Bognor!
Didn't Chas play bass at one time too - in Heads Hands and Feet with Albert Lee?
He did play in Head Hands and Feet, and he also played bass backing Jerry Lee Lewis in 1963 apparently.
It's caused by beat interference, the same as you get if you tune by harmonics What you're actually seeing is the difference in frequency between the frame rate (in this case Hz & FPS are the same thing) and the note frequency. There's a point at around 0:57 where there's a standing wave effect caused by the frequencies being the same (or an exact multiple of each other). A
Now I've seen that this was done on a DSLR the thought of the shutter running at 25 fps or higher would be rather good engineering
