What's amazing is how the guy fitted a Nikon 50mm lens on a Canon 5D mk2.
Hadn't noticed that. There are adapters available that will do that, though you lose all the autofocus etc.

Thought I recognised it! See he's started the bidding at £1 less than it went for last time. Wonder what went wrong there?
Bass strings dont vibrate like that..there some camera strickery there me thinks..
Probably down to the shutter moving over the sensor. For each frame the sensor is exposed as the shutter moves across it, so the string has moved between the start of the sensor being exposed and the end (for each frame). That isn't a clear explanation but one of the first instances of this type of effect (for an ordinary photograph) was Lartigue's car shot. Is the result of using a focal plane shutter as opposed to an iris shutter. Like the film though

Anyone have any more info on this one? Says fender but only one pic shown.

PASS IT ON: Pigs might fly, the inside story of the Pink Floyd.
bythesea replied to beerdragon's topic in Recycling
Currently with me - I have some unexpected free time to read this at the moment so shouldn't be too long. Will make sure it is disinfected before I send it on (sitting at home with possible swine flu right now!) -
1. I take your point and did think of that too. I have the album and even double-checked the 'The' was actually there in the first place. I agree it might have been better phrased as per your suggestion. Or just leave out the 'the'...! 2. Yet more dumbing down! It'll be the end of civilization as we know it! Jst wt til u strt rdng bass gtr mag n othrs all in txt spk! 3. Yikes, what size font are you using?!
That will be when BGM gets delivered as a text then! And as for the font size, not sure - it's too small to read!!
2. Good Greif! Whats the rationale behind that? Can we expect a generation of Molesworths?
Apparently there are too many exceptions Link here Edit: just noticed greif - can't believe I missed that one
However, as has been mentioned previously by others here, I am also still finding typo's and certain other errors that I feel warrant a mention. From the current issue: - Front cover: (sub-heading) "ELBOW Pete Turner on the making of the The Seldom Seen Kid" - Editorial (p.8): Final paragraph "recieved" (note - 'i before e except after c' ) - Take Five (p.17): letter spacing for Jean-Jacques Burnel makes his surname look like Jean-Jacques Bumel!
I also think it has improved and will continue reading it, but with regard to your comments above - 1. As the album is called "The Seldom Seen Kid" then it isn't totally wrong to put the extra "the" in there, though it would have looked better had it been written "the making of the album The Seldom...", or even putting quotes around the album tiitle. 2. Agreed, though as schools have now been asked to stop teaching the "i before e except after c" rule I suspect it will get even more common. 3. Definitely - though due to the size font I use in my browser it looks like Bumel both times you have written it

Brilliant! Would love to see someone turn up and play one of those.

There is one member here at least with one. I asked about a small amp for an EUB and received a reply mentioning the AER. Turned out that the owner lives in my town! He even offered me the chance to go and try it out but due to various reasons it hasn't happened (yet). Don't think he posts here much but it may be worth PMing him (he's also the UK distributor for Veillette guitars).
I've never seen him use a Geddy Lee jazz-i've seen him use a couple of '70's jazz basses though-maybe that's the confusion.
Might also be a bit of a joke because of his Geddy Lee "signature" CT

MAJOR LABEL ARTIST seeks bassist (17-24)
bythesea replied to majorlabelartist's topic in Musicians Wanted
I think someone has a bit of a chip on their shoulder
I suspect Bilbo said that with at least a bit of his tongue in his cheek, even if there is an element of truth in it. And I also think that most of the people are here because of their love of what they do (original, cover, tribute or any mixture of those ) rather than because they want to move product. -
I thought maybe they were covering their ebay fees, but they have it at the same price in their online (outside ebay) store. £863 at GAK, though they do charge an extra £30 for the sunburst.
I saw a Lace Helix in the Bass Merchant.
They are shown as one of the two dealers in the UK and Lace is one the list of makers on their menu (though they don't seem to have any at the moment). The other is D W Guitars in Medway, though I can't find them on the net. Nice looking bass though

No experience at all with these so can't give advice, though I would have thought that you will probably need to get one made for your bass - it will need to match the radius of the fingerboard. And there is a pic of one here, post #5. The thread is in german and despite the fact that the poster has the same avatar as me there is no connection!
Interesting ! Just found this on the Barfaced Compact site " The current price is £400 and we can ship to anywhere in the mainland UK for £25. As these cabs are designed for gigging the best way to know if these cabs are for you is to take them on a gig! We are thus offering a 14 day trial period for you to find out if this is your ultimate bass speaker solution. Return the cab undamaged to receive a full refund of both the £400 purchase price and the £25 outbound postage and packing. " Umm scratches chin in deep thought
Alex is also putting one of his cabs "on tour" for people to try out - have a look in his sub-forum for the latest itinerary

Properly fitted 15s are going to be your best bet, but given the price difference I would probably have a pair of 20s as well, and keep them on your keyring for any unexpected use.
