Thanks again, a great day . photos to folllow

I am really hoping to come along to this , I am specifically looking to get a feel of a few of them , I recently traded a fretless for one and being a total noob to the beast , I am looking for some pointers to get started properly . so if there are a few kind soles willing to talk to me that would be great. I just have to sort a vehicle to get there now !!
Yes, strange isn't it - perhap Yamaha doesn't sell the speaker cabs separately? I've measured the DC resistance as 5.4 ohms so I'm thinking it's an 8 ohm impedance?
The stagepas comes complete I thought doesnt the amp/mixer fold into the cab box or something like ? The spec you quoted was 150W into 6ohms , could that be relevant with regard the speaker resistance?

Cheers Nige ............... I think
Wodja mean 'I quite like it'..? ..........
Cheers Doug, you are too kind , as we have a bit if time left ,I may have to do the bagpipe version

Congratulations to Mr Bilbo of this parish on a wonderful composition that scoops both the prize and adulation that follows from winning this months challenge , well I say prize , it is in fact the honour of setting the image for next months event .
Early start tomorrow so I won't be up at midnight to wave the chequered flag. Can whoever scoops the most votes - and it's currently looking like Bilbo! - please message me with their choice of image for the next one. Ta. As always, well done everyone. A very fine selection this month!
I will stand up to the plate and wave the flag , is that metaphore-mixing , ah well , congratulations to Bilbo winning with 27.27% of the total vote well done , great piece , oh, and get it played with your trio
-
OK then for my sins I have had a bash at this , https://soundcloud.com/lurksalot/london-zulu-lurks-remix I quite like it , but then I have had it running through my head burning its signature on my brain superb track, thanks to Nige and the rest if the guys and gals for letting us play with it , I hope you enjoy my ideas

Having put what I thought were some final touches to mine , I thought I would pop over for a listen ,WOW , it makes me realise how far off the pace I am , superb work Paul , brilliant .
That was me :-) I thought Dad was going to get my vote as he won me over quite quickly with a great tune with lovely deep bass, but then I heard yours: I love the mood of the jazz tune, and adore the morse code beeps. A really great contrast which is both quirky and effective. Well done the rest of you too :-)
Many thanks , that is awesome
I think it would be fun to use a video clip as the inspiration one month - and much better to use a 'real' video with links to the BC family, than some stock footage. The only consideration is that we tried this about a year ago and it tanked... I think we had three entries and a lot of folks struggled with the technical aspects of syncing their music to the film. Bear in mind that it was more of a 'slideshow' than an actual 'movie' (it was a compilation of still images from that year's Composition Challenge), so some actual footage may be more inspiring - and we could perhaps avoid worrying about the music and film being synced together, for those that don't have the software to do this. Anyway... certainly an idea to keep hold of
I recall that quite well and was kind of why I didn't bite the lads hands off with the idea , but never say never I reckon

May I offer a quick bump for this , the top of the field is currently tied with a close call for those just behind and in need of some extra votes to seperate them , they might not actually seperate them , but it would be great to find out .............
You lot should get a little collective together and start trying to score some independent films . Seriously, I know it's almost a cliché now to state that the quality of the compositions gets better every month, but it really does.
Quite bizarrely , I had a discussion about the film idea the other day with my lad , I played the entries through to him and he actually mentioned a competition to score his next short film . I intend to keep the idea in loose discussion with him to see if it will gain any legs , but he can make a film , and the BC composers can certainly do a tune or two . Dont hold your collective breath , but if it shows promise I will liase with Skol to asses the feasibility of the idea.

I was most pleased to get a vote so early in the proceedings, many thanks , I normally seem to land one right at the death , I think there is a vote fairy that soothes my ego for my really dodgy entries

Not so much last nights gig as much as feedback from last weeks , a friend of rhythm gtr, who is a bass player in another band , stayed to watch and said it was one of the best overall band sounds he has heard in a pub for ages . while I am right chuffed as I set the sound up , I rested my (expensive) Spector and played my bitsa that I knocked up for relative pennies , so naturally I have a little bit of confusion in all this
What? dotted quavers? All dat Jazz? Basschat is not the place for that (allegedly).
There are a few that partake in that jazz thing on Basschat , but over at Vuvuzelachat it's all the rage
Seems to be OK for now. Take it in turns, maybe..? Don't all rush in at once. Those with pseudos beginning with 'A', 00h00 till 01h00, those starting with 'B': 01h00-02h00, 'C' can go in 02h00-03h00 and so on. No pushing at the back; take it easy, there's enough for us all, IF we don't panic. Be careful; it's tough out there. Dismiss...

It's the best fun. Composing is the most satisfying aspect of music for me at the moment, not because I am particularly good at it but because I can see things getting more sophisticated every time I try a new idea. It also helps me learn more about the IT side, the recording side, the composing software etc etc and, at the end of it, I have something of value in each piece. Brilliant fun.
I see it much the same and use the mixing challenge as a learning tool in a similar way
All depends on your definition of "cheap"...
Are we talking of a basses or shots

Well done James , it is you who deserves the praise , everyone else just played the thing It is a shame that it has come to a bit of a stop , but is sometimes the way of things , I guess it is up to the BC massive to decide if they want to pick up the baton, literately. A last ROLL UP , ROLL UP , and take the chance to raise some money for cancer research and be a part of a great event . Maybe auction it off now then with T-shirt and book , or keep the bits for your bottom drawer

Dialling tones where were they , tis a tad deeeper than that , Douglas got it and nailed it pretty much yours may not be the "going out" song, more the "pi55ed walk home from the club on your own after getting blown out by every good looking girl in the club" song
-
Many Thanks , alas , I already have that one , what are the chances ed after an epiphany Hmmm, thinks , a few quavers dotted in here or there, a touch of delay , EQ, hard L&R panning and maybe it would be unrecognisable
There's one in there already isn't there..? There isn't..? Are you sure..? Oh dear, my new headset is perhaps not the correction my [s]hearing[/s] deafness needs. What about all those animals to the left, then..? Don't tell me I imagined them, too..?
I just found the Harp , ok so it just leaves a vuvuzela solo
-
I dont think I should be allowed to do this challenge , I swear I could hear the words Vuvuzela in amongst the Welsh they were singing , so I thought a Vuvuzela / harp duet break would work

Have the soundcloud comments stopped working , I tried to say some further drivel in the comments but for some reason , I couldn't . By that, I didn't mean I was struck with a fright or some mystical inability to type , just when I hit the enter button all the typing I had done just disappeared
