we played a little pub just outside Chester for my brothers birthday , it was fantastic , everyone was bouncing all the way through both sets, we blooded a couple of new songs and were asked to play them again . We played on after the landlord gave us the nod to a couple more songs after 12.00 and everyone went home drunk and quite happy

This has to be the best set of entries in a single month so far , outstanding , I may end up doing a lucky dip to pick one to vote for

That would have been uber contempory when you did that and it is fantastic Nige , it really is .

I just noticed my post count , It makes sense to post No 1000 in here

Thats a shame Bilbo, I hope your boxes get unpack soon enough .
Nice one Lurks! I've only had a quick listen on my phone but I have to commend Lurksalittle on the vocal. Very good indeed.
Cheers Skol , her voice needs a bit of firming up , but I didn't give her enough takes really , It is quite an eye opener when you realise the concentration it takes for someone to hear a melody learn the words and fit them in to the tune , its one thing to sing along to a song , another learning an existing song, but when you start from scratch it takes soooo much more effort , if I allow for that next time, we should have even better results. I have gone along with the idea that the song 'just' needs a vocal , while it was brilliant when the bands singer did it for the blues song I did , I now realise it requires a LOT more planning for a 13 year old girl to do it . ...and on that note , she has a new app on her ipad which is effectively a midi programmer , a real doody thing where you just draw or write on the screen and the app just plays through where the writing covers the notes , incredible bit of kit , to the extent that she is mumbling about entering the competition herself next time

Aye , probably a touch early , but great fun nevertheless

I have Yamaha HS 50s but primarily for mixing , they are very crisp midrange but bass light , I would have thought something with an optional sub might work for gaming as I am sure you would need a bit of low end in there

Well , the medieval headless pewcore is up now , just in time because the 'studio' refurbishment starts this coming week , well , decorating the playroom , but I hope to formalise a bit more studio-ness into it . A family effort this week , I hope you enjoy. http://soundcloud.com/lurksalot/no-body
Hmm, I'm getting all that now with my guitar rig interface. I've heard the pre-amps on the focusrites are great but it's hard to tell if it's worth upgrading my interface just for the better pre-amps. I think the £120 may be better spent elsewhere or I'll have to try one out so I know for sure
Ah , well I guess its your ears that will have to make the judgement on that , good luck

Superb job that man , it all makes perfect sense now that it is set out , well done Skol , a great effort , and well done to all of us who asked for it , someone has been very busy , I hope it works well for everyone who contributes
I'm almost sold would you say the sound quality was a big improvement over the zooms? That's the only issue I face at the moment.
on the basis that I could record everything and anything , at mic level and line level ( and with a 48v phantom supply) , and all with predictable levels both on output and input , to my ears It is bliss , consistent bliss , I was honestly getting so frustrated before I bought the 2i2 that I was close to abandoning hope of recording anything even half decent ,

I have got a week and a few days off coming up and hope to finally decorate/sort/assemble my studio/snug/TVroom project , it is having to be all things to all dwellers , but 3 out of the 4 are intersted in playing and recording so I have a chance of some input here Photos will be forthcoming when there is enough light coming from the end of the tunnel to illuminate it
-
Dont worry Si , we will have to try and sort it between us , looking at the timescales it might be best to colllect some track ideas for the rest of the month and pick one to be done for December/Jan . I know some have time off over christmas /new year and an excuse to sit, eat some pies and listen to music would be good
-
..........and at that point ............I bought the 2i2

I have used both the B9 and the 2.1 and found getting recording levels and playback levels consistent was a real PITA , it must be said I was a newbie at it and tried recording because the usb interface helped a lot , but when I got the scarlet it made the whole process easier by a long way , the latency issues seemed a lot less pronounced aswell , I still use the zooms to mess with the tone but not as an interface .

some great footage , i thought alan lancaster looked tiny at the reunion but then I clocked his heels on the old footage
-
it is a nice melody as you say Matt, nice tone too .

I am in a similar dilemna to last month again now . I am nearly ready for a final mix but it is missing a vocal , however this month I might have time to actually get one done , either by me , the daughter , or the bands warbler . dont hold any breaths for it though
I wonder what music lessons are like nowadays in schools? One week a bit of rapping , next week some dancehall raggamuffin bashment , and let's not forget that the Grime module makes up 30% of you final mark . The school choir probably does a rousing rendition of old favourites from when the music teacher was young , like "Killing In The Name Of ", " Knockin' Da Boots" and " Nuthin' But A "G" Thang'". The kids probably just long to sing Kum Ba Yah and play the recorder.
well up until April this year, my 13 yr old daughter was way ahead of me in music recording and production (cubase) that was learned from school,
I'll raise you ambient-electronic-alternative-post-techno-glitch-prog-trip-hop. Probably.
Well that trumps my pewcore , but then mine will probably come out more like a country ballad anyway
Music is hard I think my entry might top out at 30 seconds long at this rate
There's no rush , plenty of time to develop the theme . I haven't listened yet , I always wait till I have at least uploaded mine at the earliest. But if it is as you want that's fine too
I remember it was an old Hohner violin bass with rubber strings... Was it ceremonially burned?
Ah yes , that was my first bass that I let Mike have when I got my upgrade (a P of some sort I recall) , but I think he traded it in when he got his Ibanez , ( that he still has , though it is rusting up now ) . Bizarrely , I only bumped into the guy I bought the Hohner from the other week , I sold him a house full of windows for his mums house, small world I guess
