Well done Ironside , you got my vote aswell , I think I approached the song in a similar manner to what you described but of course you did it just an itsy bitsy teeny weeny bit better . Honestly I find Kits vocal a bit difficult to focus on at higher volumes when it stands out from the mix, so I tried to blend it in a touch with the BVs .I did seem to spend a while picking out some of the vocal spills that were in there then I tried to group sections , set levels , and pick out some special pieces on BVs , guitars and strings to automate into the mix . I was pleased with my final version but on listening back I think I did our Nige a disservice and didn't give enough to him, Still, a very enjoyable piece to work on thanks to all involved .

New slap to tap to slap to time signature changing magic
lurksalot replied to Captain Bass's topic in Share Your Music
It is very special , toneful and tuneful and every note seems to count , top stuff -
this seems a good idea , we have been meaning to do some simple recording for a while with our band , so I might get a toy like this and give it a go

Yup , Its very good , the song and performance is excellent , production aswell , the vid is a bit claustrophic for me , but then I am not a great fan of vid anyway , look forward to next months
-
I am not a great fan of the genre , but there was a lot in there that I liked , some of the mix seemed inconsistent with a lot of the instruments fighting for attention , but I would be pleased to have put that together .

Thirteen votes is a touch dissappointing , but for the participants the challenge is to learn about the process get a bit of experience and most importantly have the efforts critiqued , this is the main part of the competition for me , and in all fairness if you are not participating then a lot of the impetus of listening and voting is based more on the goodwill of the BCers as they do need to have a fairly close listen to the entries to make a choice.
I stopped looking at and unsubscribed from the How Was Your Gig thread long ago as I don't like endless threads, as that thread is not easily searchable, and all the bands are thrown into it together. If I wanted to look for a certain gig by a certain band, I would have to read the thread backwards without having any idea whether the gig has been posted there and at what point in the sequence. I doubt that thread is a good substitute for what I'm trying to do here.
great idea BJ If the bands had there own page , would they need to be sticky? as if they were all in one forum they could be searched for quite easily
me AGAIN! this thread so deserves a BUMP up to the top.. & I now have a 'Soundcloud' widget embeded on my weblog which lists all of my compositions to date.. the music is mainly original, electronic-derived Pop! or something like that.. http://simon-edward.tumblr.com/
I should have spent more time in this thread , superb , the website is great too

Ah yes , enthusiasm is all , run with it -
They are superb , real quality and when Si rates your mix, its OK in my book too

very tight and great playing from where I am , but I guess with keys the overall sound would be a touch fuller.

The tunes have potential to my ears , but I am not sure of the benefit of offering them up at this stage , I would get them polished and do a proper rough mix , it would help identify the things you want to do with it yourselves. Having said that, everything I do seems to be a work in progress compared to most on this forum -
Great pub gig last night , it was a bit quiet , but some said it was our best performance to date , those that were there were very enthusiastic and it felt very tight all the way through . repeat gig booked , and another from a couple who want us for a party in January. our 'gigs aren't out there' tour completes gig #63

Ah OK I didn't really have that depth of story telling in my head with mine Dad , But , the guns were designed to capture the rhythm of my piece , though without great definition , they were to offer a structure which is the both the randomness of the shooting while still offering a progression through it . the 'melody' if you will was played on a midi piano as were the helicopter and sirens , It was great to actually research the arabic scales that it was done with , the bass line was then improvised within the same scale pattern , and I really enjoyed doing it. Oh and Dad , you had a click from me , and I reckon if you hadn't written so much of an explanation of last months , you could have written and recorded Octobers by now Well done Skol , a quality piece and thanks for the links to the sounds I will try and pick afew bits out when I remember . Now to my October entry ...........I fear a vocal on its way again

I am inspired already , though Dad will probably trump me , but that is a lovely photo bud. I am after 2 votes this month to double my average score , ( for which I already feel truly honoured)

Cheers for doing this Si , Would it be worth letting on after the event to those of us who haven't sussed the K meter yet , I thought I had ,but if I haven't I would rather know , I guess the others might want to aswell . I too have got it down to 2 , and one of those is mine , I honestly think that after listening to it so closely and so often , your own version gets imprinted in your head and it sounds best , even if its a pile of the proverbial. but that probably means I am not doing enough referencing I guess . Ok so I won't vote for mine so it will have to be .............

I reckon it would be a guitarist and a singer I wouldn't be playing with again
Thank you sir, it's old and draughty and certainly not in a solid state! but it is home (and work)
And there sir I can help , we have a "do the front and we will do the back free" offer on at the moment , not just your average PVC windows for your property , no , quality ones for you I will keep my eye out next time I use my National Trust card , I might find the studio in the library , lovely looking bit of everything in that set-up

Good call , that will be interesting
