1. If you are only lending kit , I don't think you have the same risk as if you were hiring it out. It might still be reasonable to suss the competency of the peeps using it though, both for their own safety and the wellbeing of your kit
2. there are some very small minded peeps out there , and to be honest, with thinking like that I hope that they stay out there, or maybe prepare to be enlightened and apart from my own drivel , yes Basschat is VERY funny , VERY witty, VERY informative and a pleasure to read and contribute to.
3.
I got fed up with Blueschat. Every time I replied or even quoted on a thread they'd tell me it wasn't as good as the OP
Yeah , I say I got fed up with Blueschat. Every time I replied or even quoted on a thread they'd tell me it wasn't as good as the OP But You know the blues forum must be twice the size of most others Thats the truth oh yeah You know the blues forum must be twice the size of most others
4. Ah , this helps , I was aware of Roosendal and Stijlorenrijk , Brabantse the area that they are in ? but is it a flower based festival ? It is a bit of a distance to Norway though. You speak distance in miles , is that as a translation thing , or is that your measure of choice ?
5. Bert, you are most kind, and of course equally welcome , It would appear that there are many places where the grass is green and the girls are pretty, I like these places. Ed for cheese on toast fingers

9. Hiring a van under 25 is sometimes a problem , but a mate who wants to get involved is good , even get him sound trained to help on the desk, local businesse who have vans might like to help out , or not , but you won't know till you've asked
10. I would love to contribute , but I have been hypnotised by the OP's Avatar . I can't leave the thread .............................
11. Local pub gig for me , at the Shamrock in Buckley , it was very quiet when we set up so we were a bit concerned , but by the end the place was bouncing , we were chuffed with this gig as we changed the set list on the fly when they started dancing and kept them up. WE have played there before but the Landlord was very complimentary this time and reckons we have stepped up a notch , some of the local bands he rated us against are really good and well regarded, so a good night was had by all .
12.
I'm supporting them this coming July in Sweden I think! Not exactly a huge fan but I know they're nice guys, should be interesting.
where is the we're not worthy emoti thingy when you need one
It was unknown to me but having tubed it ,I like it , HOWEVER, on the links were tunes by steve stevens , Memory Crash , This stuff is new to me and I LOVE it , cheers dude a totally cool way to find a great groove
14. I keep seeing numbers in our set in here We generally open first set with Rem , one I love , warbler likes it for warming up with . second set often starts with Queen , tie your mother down ,that runs into stereophincs , local boy in a photograph
15. one of the greatnesses on here is in the modesty , and I think it generally is to be a sign of a certain expertise in itself .
16.
they are still wired up! of course it will not be what it says on it. Hum is more likely to be something touching something it shouldn't or some grounding error
Cheers Luke , I have cut the cables and guess what the pots are reading like they should now Even the hum seems to have gone aswell so we a top result ......... Only thing is I can't hear anything through the amp, I will have to takes that apart now to fix it only kidding ........TAXI , Having done a bit searching , I see mention of audio log pots , can I tell what the originals are by the markings? when I meaured the resistance it seemed linear , but could that be due to them still being wired in? sorry for the numptiness
17. Electrical diagnosis was never my strongest point , but then neither is bass playing ...... bum tish. I think I will have another look at this to get my head around the i humm issue , but what would be the cause of the volume being like a switch?
18. everything is still hooked up , active eq I believe , not active pups, I will try some pics later if it helps, but would external influences have an effect on the resistance measurement across the pot terminals ?
19. I wonder if you techies out there can offer a bit of advice , I have a Spector legend4 and love it , however , I have recently been aware of a lot of hiss/general noise through the amp when I touch the strings, and also that the neck pickup volume pot is behaving more like a switch with little sweep in volume more of a sharp cut in/out . So , off with the backplate and out with the multimeter. first off the volume pots have 500K stamped in , but across the terminals I can only measure 105K on both, this seems a touch odd but will await confirmation. The both vol pots sweep from 0 - 105K from the centre terminal to one of the outside ones , in a pretty linear fashion , but when swapping to the other outside terminal expecting a simple reverse measurement , I can only get the numbers to go from 0 - 7.5K (or 7.5K -0) This all seems very odd and would love any input that is available thanks in advance
20.
I am old enough to remember seeing the Rolling Stones supported by the Meters for £7.50 in the Glasgow Apollo, but I think the live music environment is better today.
I would rather save up and pay £100 to see a show in a proper theatre than pay £50 to see some dots in the distance in a stadium on a TV side stage which as an auditorium totally sucks. sorry , but I REALLY don't get these type of 'gigs' .I am sure the bands accountants do , but I don't .
21.
I'd say this is a situation where you either have to leave or you have to say something and see what happens but you can't do nothing at all.

Having followed the thread I tend to agree with this. I think it's a situation where 'do nothing' isn't an option. But, if you do decide it's not for you and you take your leave how will you feel if in the future you find out something went seriously awry concerning the kids and you didn't say anything at the time?
If you are leaving, then there is no reason not to say why you are leaving , this could well include the safety/welfare of the kids , but by the same score he may grow up to be a great parent like ...er.... ozzzy
22. my first was a Hohner violin with a broken neck joint, paid £30 for it in 78, 3 x 2 inch woodscrews sorted the neck and played it for 2 years then gave it to my brother , who went on a fair bit , so no really. I was chuffed it had some use after me and would probably be worth a few pennies now if I had cherished it , but the day I got it, the luthier in me stole it's value but got a few tunes out of it
23.
This is why. There is no craftsmanship in making a Squire. You just have to have the hardware.
what about the craftsmanship in making the machines and the software ?
24. I am sorry , but merely hearing the the name Fender , kind of imparts the dreaded word of snobbery to my ears , a bit like M&S they do some great stuff but also some very overpriced middle of the road stuff , but you pay for the name. Our drummer brought in a bass for me to have a look at that he was thinking of buying for his lad, wrong neck on the wrong body , buzz every fret , dodgy socket , no access to the truss rod adjuster it just felt wrong . the dealer was selling to sticks for £200 but could sell it for £800 all day . I suggested taking it back and saying no thanks , but guitarist reckoned it was a bargain , but he is a Fender snob and will have nothing said against the name on the headstock , irrelevant of the planks it was printed on. I don't argue that there are a lot of experienced Fender users on here that really know there stuff , and maybe I just haven't found that Fender to fall in love with , but then I haven't really been inspired to go look for it either.
25. The beauty of this is that 2 months after the all important audition , the same old same old comes out , in that the band don't really care what I play as I am only the bass player Auditions, I believe, have different levels of competency and expectancy dependant on the instrument/vocal and the relevance that has in the band. and generally bass just seems to be a supporting act in the scheme of things. I have jammed 3 auditions and got the gig, and I am NOT a great player , I just try and fit in , how long you wish to stay 'fitting in' or even if you want to at all , really depends on circumstance and personalities , but I reckon first thing is to suss out want they want, then work out if you want to do it , and that is only partly down to bass technique. I reckon bass chops often alienate other band members as that is not want they want , but hit a root in time with the kick drum and away we go, I am pretty sure that a lot of non bass players would not have a clue about techniques even as simple as pick vs finger , nevermind slap ,pop or chords or heaven forbid .............tone (except boom or excess volume ) I didn't join my current band , but formed it by 'audition' and to be honest the word 'audition' didn't even hit my radar, I just went along for the craic , and the craic was good for all of us , hence we are a band , simple , but then I wasn't in need of joining a band, but was missing it .
