Approaching the end of the year now and @upside downer rolls out a doosey to close out October. By way of reward he gets to choose, and bright as a button, he has proposed the following for your inspiration, with the bonus of a bit of background should you take an interest in such stuff https://www.diyphotography.net/conceptual-photographer-takes-us-behind-scenes-moons-ever-changing-cycle/ Usual rules apply. You know the drill: ✔️ Entries must be <5 minutes and written/recorded this month. ❌ No illegal samples, copyright infringements or other snide goings-on ❌ Bagpipes. please no bagpipes, the Halloween truce now Expired. panpipes only if you have too. ❌ No voting for your own entry. We'll know. And we'll shame you. A line or two offering an insight to your inspiration will be good as well , it works nicely on the voting thread. Deadline wise , we will go for midnight on 'Fibonacci day ' 👍, and again you probably have till about 19.00 on the 24th, ( the clue given here is that 'Fibonacci day' is the 23rd). Have a good one

Well done @upside downer great stuff , I really enjoyed that one , if you send me a picture over I will set up November’s Challenge 👍
-
Wish you were here 😁
-
Do it quick before everyone votes for someone else 😜

Defo ‘cleaner’ but bring those vocals up , or EQ them so they cut through a bit more . that’s a general thing though , I think we are all too shy with our lyrics , let’s hear them 👍 but it’s still a doozy of a toon 😎

Bravo sir, bravo!

brilliant !

voting is up Apologies to anyone hanging till to this evening , but I've just realised that I am taking Mrs Lurks away for a couple of days. This means i wont have my computer access and I cant do this on my phone.

WOW ... The pumpkin trails are set out and with an increasing number of houses being decorated with spiders webs and skellingtons , it can only mean one thing ... we are approaching the end of October and that in turn brings the obvious conclusion that ....... its the October Composition Challenge voting thread The compositions are based on this picture , chosen by last months winner @Doctor J and they are really worth a listen over the week Choose your favourite 3 tracks The Basschat force was strong with this picture as you will hear in due course .......... 1 @Dad3353 Taking stock, reflection, inspired by the (apparently...) more simple life led by (apparently...) more serene sentient creatures. Are they telling us something..? Can sentiments be transmitted..? Yes, they can (apparently...). 2 @NickD Finally some time! Crap weather and no diesel cut me a little slack this month. 3 @Doctor J This looks like the sub-aquatic future which seemingly awaits us on our unstoppable journey into oblivion. Do electric trains run underwater? 4 @Nail Soup The pic got me thinking about swimming with dolphins and generally drifting around, which gave me the feel for the song. I was recently loaned a beautiful mid-70’s Gibson Thunderbird acoustic guitar by my aunt, which belonged to my late uncle who passed last year. She wants it to be played. So it’s included here and contributed to the feel. 5 @Leonard Smalls I fancied a bit of Dub, so here it is! Sounds best on big speakers with serious bass handling... 6 Lurksalot I saw this a journey which obviously has choices of destination and timing to a degree , you can go when and where you want to. A fairly simple thought on journeys in general. 7 @upside downer Hello, I'm Johnny Trash. The image brought to mind the rising sea levels and the consequences of climate change. However, I'm a glass half full kind of guy and that struck me as far too morose so instead I went with a country tinged toe-tapper about a train trip gone awry and the narrator more worried about his lack of Adam Peatyesque prowess and getting to his journey's end. Where was he hoping to get to, though? 8 @skankdelvar A dab behind the ears with some eau de Canvey. Well that's it , nothing too scary, but the voting will close at midnight on Halloween so choose your favourite 3 tracks good luck to all , and well done , they are a great listen .

I cant hang on any longer , I have tried the vocal line on this about a hundred times and there is always that moment when you realise you've fluffed it , and as I havent trained the neighbour to perform for me yet, my offering will have to suffice! I saw this a journey which obviously has choices of destination and timing to a degree , you can go when and where you want to. A fairly simple thought on journeys in general. I used EZ drummer , and VG iron for my VSTi's and in real life played an Ibby 6er through waves GTR3 , Gordon Smith bass through an amp sim and sang for my supper Tickets please lyrics for those interested Where are you going , which way do you choose , a trip to the skies or, a train wreck down with the blues. Did you want to take this trip or was it a surprise It circles right back to the start , hidden by a clever disguise Your seat is safe here , yours on demand you can ride whenever you want we all understand Tickets please Did you make a choice on this journey , or did you just wander on board It doesn’t matter either way but yould think it deserved a reward if it all gets a bit too surreal you can hit the emergency brake come back whenever you like , it’s your decision to make Your seat is safe here yours on demand you can ride whenever you want we all understand tickets please

I have a structure down , I was expecting it to be quite Rocky but it seems to be more pop , but who knows , my dulcet vocal tones will put it in a genre all of its own 😂

October is ON

Congratulations to @Doctor J on his September win , that puts him on a double , he has thus supplied the following image for your inspiration. Usual rules apply. You know the drill: ✔️ Entries must be <5 minutes and written/recorded this month. ❌ No illegal samples, copyright infringements or other snide goings-on ❌ Bagpipes. please no bagpipes, summer equinox truce now Expired. panpipes only if you have too. ❌ No voting for your own entry. We'll know. And we'll shame you. A line or two offering an insight to your inspiration will be good as well , it works nicely on the voting thread. Deadline wise , we will go for midnight on 'United Nations day ' 👍, and yes, yet again, again you probably have till about 19.00 on the 25th, ( the clue given here is that 'United Nations day' is the 24th). Good Luck and Happy Composing

Well done doc , an excellent composition and very deserved of making a ‘double’ I'm looking forward to your next picture choice already 👍

Voting thread is go go go

Well , 'twould appear the nights are drawing in and we have limped through to just past the autumn equinox and that means just one thing ... its the September Composition Challenge voting thread The compositions are based on this picture , chosen by last months winner @Doctor J The entries are as follows 1 @Dad3353 I'm in a sombre mood, and it reflects in the result. A bit dark; more 'black' than 'white', I'm afraid. Despite this, no kittens were hurt in the making of this piece. 2 @Nicko Pigeons. Dirty, Dirty things. I hate them. The death of Lee Scratch Perry was in my mind when I started this, so you'll be pleased or not to discover an attempt at Dub Poetry in the comp. 3 @Leonard Smalls Pigeons? They're Funky! So here's a bit of Old Skool rap/rock to reflect this 4 Lurksalot I googled the photo and found all the fodder I needed , of course this is Alain Delon , this led to a veritable mine of information, which I mostly ignored and took liberties ! 5 @Doctor J I have no specific ill will toward pigeons, unlike some of the other lads here, though I'd never fully trust one. From the perspective of the young gentleman looking through the lens, that pigeon would seem quite large. I thought of a conversation between Ted and Dougal about some cows. 6 @Nail Soup The image bought to mind the saying that kids at school used to say if they thought someone was looking at them - "do you want a picture?". As I was falling asleep the musical idea came. I decided to do something different - and recorded real drums, including my home-made suitcase bass-drum. 7 @upside downer I struggled to get a handle on this one. I went with a pop rock tune for a busy bunch of black and white birds and a bemused bloke. I for one really enjoyed listening through those , the production is getting better and better and I reckon some of those toons are worth real money ! Anyway if you just want to listen, rank them and offer 3 ticks in the appropriate boxes, I am sure it will be reward enough. the votes will close at midnight on 30th September Good luck and enjoy the toons

No no no , non of this please , I can’t stand the tenchon 😎
