  1. I think you are right in general , but those who want a big wedding will still have one and wait a bit . I know that those who are still working are saving money or spending it on home improvements, I would suspect that those planning a wedding will have a proper blowout and throw even more money at it. I’m sure they will have to spend more as well, as prices for all sorts of stuff is going through the roof , I expect bands will clock on to to that in due course and reflect the fact in their fees
  2. I really can’t divulge ....just yet , though your guess is duly noted
  3. I would of course win in this guess, if I was in the tie at the point of close, as I do happen to know the answer 😎 I think I’d have to relinquish my claim in the photo choice in fairness
  4. Well the first attempt wasn’t too successful 😂 we might have to do a quiz based on lurksalittle’s favourite colour to settle it this time
  5. That's it Ladies and gents, the time for both Valentines love and challenge composing is over for another month. Its now time to show some listening love to the following tunes inspired by this photo chosen by @upside downer We have new blood entering this month and a You Tube presentation for another, for a bit of background, it really might be worth checking out some of the thought processes behind the compositions, they can be found in the thread here, I can recommend it the choices in order of submission are as follows ........... 1... @Dad3353 2... @fingers211 3... @Nail Soup 4... @upside downer 5... @Leonard Smalls 6... Lurksalot 7... @Nicko 8... @skankdelvar 9.... @MoonBassAlpha Voting ends on midnight on the 28th Enjoy
  6. I have got a pretty daft one I guess , enjoy Full Moon
  7. No , just using the lingo of the BC massive
  8. I thought it was George Ezra when I heard it on the wireless !
  9. Authentic is good...... at least that’s how I kid myself , your welcome to the mantra😎
  10. A tactic I have used in the past , and no doubt, a far more tuneful presentation (in my case at least ) however , trying to offer direction and an explanation of what I was hoping for, is often a bit frustrating , not as a problem, just that they will naturally offer an interpretation that might not sit quite right. As it would be purely for fun and as an input , I feel a bit like a Tw4t critiquing it
  11. I have had a couple of very busy weeks and my ‘studio’ is being occupied by the dining room furniture . I got a couple ideas down last night , but it’s very loose and , being honest sloppy ......... so business as usual then 😂
  12. Roll up , Roll up We have the picture to inspire you for this month. Congratulations to @Dad3353 for his winning entry in January and we wish you best wishes in your return to fitness. While Douglas is recuperating, the worthy runner up @upside downer has the honour of picture choice and has thus offered.......... Usual rules apply. You know the drill: ✔️ Entries must be <5 minutes and written/recorded this month. ❌ No illegal samples, copyright infringements or other snide goings-on ❌ Bagpipes. ( Christmas truce now expired) . Also on thin ice with panpipes, to be perfectly honest. ❌ No voting for your own entry. We'll know. And we'll shame you. A short month this one so get stuck in, deadline for entries is midnight on Sunday 21st February * Enjoy *realistically the voting thread probably wont go up till 8 ish on the Monday , but don't risk it as I don't know how to edit polls
  13. Well done Douglas and get yourself back in form soon young man . @upside downer as a deserved runner up, if you could provide the image for inspiration I will post it up later
  14. There’s no issue with you not doing them of course Douglas , just a note that it was brilliant when you did 👍
  15. I never really go too deep into voting , I generally like something or I don’t , though I do listen more to the entries than I might of a random composition of a similar style. I like to hear lyrics , but not essential , production similar it doesn’t have to be professional quality , but it is easier to listen to if well produced . style again is not a tick box for me , if it is fun or clever or just makes me tap my feet or nod my head , they all count If anyone puts an entry in or composed a tune , then the picture will probably have inspired it , so I take it as read , though often, noises or lyrics tie it in further. critique would often be good , but another layer of involvement that might be a push with most, @Dad3353 did do a review of entries at one point that were superb , but probably took a fair bit of time and effort , it was way more than I’d be able to do!
  16. I have one , I really like it , it’s my go to bass ,SG style . funny enough I had not really heard of them until a few years ago , then hooked up with a mate who we had jammed with when kids , and he plays a smith 6 string guitar.
  17. I’ve managed to commit to 3 as much by sticking a pin in the list, but it’s done 😎 one criteria I did let influence me , was lyrics , I love to hear the story telling aspect of the tunes , but I do need to hear the words , I think there’s a few of you should be a bit braver and bring the vocal slider up a few db.* *I realise that is a touch rich considering the proposed vocal on mine didn’t materialise
  18. I’m going to need another couple of listens through these 1..because I am finding it difficult to whittle down the preference to 3 2.... I really enjoy listening to them my voting system goes on points based allocation when it is as close as this , but these all get pretty much the same points
  19. Well f**k me furiously, I've had a good run through these now and that is a proper collection of most excellent toonage of the highest order, fair play
  20. the voting thread is up guys but then, as I have tagged you in it, you probably already know that
  21. Now that we have finished off the minces pies, chocolate and cake we have our January offerings for your enjoyment. Have a look at this picture from november's winner @Doctor J and then have a listen to hear what sort of toonage it inspired Please choose your favourite 3 toons and tick the boxes 1 @xgsjx 2 @Leonard Smalls 3 @Dad3353 4 @Doctor J 5 @Nicko 6 @upside downer 7 @lurksalot 8 @MoonBassAlpha 9 @skankdelvar Best of luck, its a really good listen through here The vote closes at midnight on the 31st Jan
  22. Another fine crop of compositions 😎 I shall set up the voting thread on my return from work this evening
