  2. Monetarily , spending too much on guitars I hadn’t tried before I pulled the trigger. time wise, persevering with trying workarounds with old kit , it’s great when it pans out , but now I just buy new kit that works
  3. I can jam or busk along to a song at a jam night without a care in the world , I can record my own stuff at home with as many takes as I feel I neeed or have time for .....but in a studio with a time limit with the band, I feel waaaaay out of my comfort zone and really don’t like it at all.
  4. At this point I am reminded of Mike Flowers Pops great fun at the time but not on any of my playlists , .....hmmm , thinks , next years Le Mans playlist
  5. i'm ready , I offer you Dogless, with a great splash of the new guitar Vst on offer from Ujam and focusrite , ooh I love it
  6. Thanks for the heads up, it is a great fun tool to play with
  7. With the OP’s monicker , he might not be that confident .....and with that in mind , assuming it’s not an ironic handle, small hands and 34inch scales can make finger stretching an issue. so maybe warm up stretches, a short scale bass, or a 5 string capo on the 5th fret anyway, look to make less strain on yourself
  8. I voted yes for my last band, all very reliable except lead guitar who was always pushing the clock . no-one really noticed until I left, then they all had to sort, learn and set up the PA, it is a shame it has pretty much landed in the shoulders of the singer, the promo has nearly gone , and I think generally there is a bit more stress in the outfit. They haven’t bothered getting band lighting either , that is too much extra to consider just yet , but the singer has bought a van to be able to carry the stuff he needs to. Overall they are good guys , who have obviously stepped up to the plate when needed 👍
  9. Pmd sorry for the delay , I thought I was following this !
  10. Does this need ‘tractor’ or NI stuff because I get very lost in a lot of all the complexity that goes on with these things can I just download and use through reaper like other VST’s ? TIA
  11. Especially as I had been looking for an example of the bass for a year or so , rare as it seems . Ive moved on now
  12. I’ve had that myself , sussed out the money my end , made an offer for the asking price , and watch it get withdrawn. totally racked me off
  13. Runaway fingers runaway victor who is victor well done Douglas , brilliant dude
  14. Just turned the tv on , rare for me on a sat morning , and lo , Saturday kitchen , Belgium F3 live , ooh, tough call
  15. Sounds awesome, great post my last 2 gigs were a bit like that as I depped for the band I left 9 months ago. a town called malice was one I had always wanted to play live , we tried it as a band in rehearsals years ago but the drummer could never come in on it. anyway the couple at the wedding had requested it and typical of the guitarist reckoned we were happy to busk it out. A couple of acoustic type run throughs the day before didn’t fill me with confidence but as I always wanted to do it I didn’t object too much. well muggins here got hung out on the intro , I launch into it and the drummers blank stare says it all . After some pulled expressions of disbelief from me , he starts hitting things. it took a bar to find out what he was doing and then ‘lock in’ and really hoped he just kept doing the same thing all song, I managed to communicate to the lads to ignore the bass solo as I didn’t want the same happening all over again. the song has now been played live by me and the audience didn’t throw anything at us , but a fantastic song to get right ...........I would imagine
  16. When I was at school, myself and some mates had guitars and cheap amps and would jam and pretend to be rockstars in the garage where we had created a bit of space for ourselves . one of the neighbours heard our racket and mentioned that Graham , her eldest had no use for a broken old guitar he had in the loft . On inspection it only had 4 black strings and a broken neck socket. £15 lighter I put some wood screws in it to hold it together , and lo , I played bass a hofner violin bass after a while my younger brother took it up and followed on playing at school in the sixth form and joined a band.... Then a month or two ago , the original garage jammers of 40 years ago went to see this young upstarts latest band in Whitchurch . true story
  17. I agree with the others , take a breath before you do anything. one thing to bear in mind , a guitarists hearing could easily be shot in the higher and mid frequency ranges , they will therefore hear more lower end i.e you. I had this in my last band , the guitar kept getting louder and louder , because he couldn’t hear it ! If that is a factor and if you can all get past it, it will be cool
  18. If you don’t feel ‘natural’ is particularly inspiring , either for you or the camera , be someone else , get an idea or a person in your head And be them , you don’t have to actually do anything , as long as your head thinks you are ! Getting into a character can take the pressure off you as it’s the other guy putting himself on show

  21. Oh No , it must be a bit too subtle I don’t know how to do one of those spoiler things on the phone , so I’ll keep schtum for the moment, when I get back to the big machine I’ll try to explain
  22. Thank you for the thought, but it’s not actually my birthday Douglas, it’s just my take on the photo , I was looking for a way to introduce some smut into the proceedings and found it via the birthday present
