  1. I guess so Doug , I've just closed this one to try it out I think we should have paid more attention at mod school
  2. Indeed , but not as as popular as yours congratulations , a fine song and a worthy winner. I'm sure Dad will be along with your certificate in due course 👍 If you can find a picture and drop into Skol we can fire up the May challenge
  3. The Tiv is normally a good mix , I've been there a few times and it's always been ok , funny enough though , I saw Uriah heap twice in 2 years and the first gig was definitely better than the second
  4. Its a brilliant insight and very interesting how much needs to be done , but I reckon you are looking to produce a top quality audio presentation in a 'great mix'. Sometimes, just 'listenable' will do , and I guess while some of that is subjective , we can vote with our feet.
  5. That sounds cool , our facebook page is https://m.facebook.com/TheRazorsBand/?ref=bookmarks we update the page regularly with gigs so hopefully we will be back on the island in the summer 👍
  6. We had a great little gig last night in Anglesey , we were recommended to the landlord and when he enquired we priced it at a decent amount for it . 1 and a 1/2 hour trip each way , a small crowd , free drinks for the band and a good night was had by all . A recall for the pub and a local festival possibly, also lots of talk of parties and recommends to other parts of the island , so a result I'm getting quite comfortable with my Gordon Smith shortscale , when practising the controls seem pretty insignificant tonally , but at gigging volumes there seems to be just enough to get the sound about right .
  7. The very thought of using Lidl bags sends shivers down my spine , I use a Butlins hold-all for the 240 leads and a proper Aldi cloth bag for the xlr's
  8. Quality, did sister Paul not join you
  9. Quite possibly , and a great way to promote yourself
  10. Inspiration inspires to what , to listen , to attend , to share emotion , to produce , to reproduce , to record , to write , to have on the playlist? A simple photograph each month has inspired me to write, perform and record a piece of music. To me that is pretty far out , I can now do all that stuff purely because in the depths of the recording section someone had an idea! That is inspirational I have started to try and reflect my own circumstances in my efforts , but one day I will write stuff that is me , it matters not if anyone likes or appreciates it , but it will be me. A litttle corner of basschat inspires me
  11. Subaru then
  12. band'mates' who abuse kit , just treating stuff roughly and throwing it about just grinds my gears
  13. Spector - Subaru Impreza with models to suit the budget of those that understand
  14. I remember Toola from an episode of Shoestring
  15. I should have done a cover of the Beatles obloidee, obloidah
  16. A fine selection again this month chaps
  17. Ive just been listening to these I'll be voting after a few more listens
  18. I have been considering moulded plugs for a while , mainly due to vanity i have etymotic er20 which I always use for rehearsal , but not so much gigs , my thinking is that rehearsing I tend to be facing drums and guitar amps , but gigging I mainly have the protection of facing away from the noise source. Now I reckon on that score that if I bought the ACS pro 10 's , I would get enough protection for gigs both playing and attending , though the 17's seem to be the ones they recommend for this , has anyone tried both or either for a comparison of both spl reduction but clarity of sound ?
  19. Saw a great couple of bands on Friday a young band from ellesmere port , Turbulence, great music and playing but need a bit more presence , but they'll grow into that. another bunch though not kids , Michigan from Warrington , most excellent . both bands worth following and I will definitely catch them again

    BOOKS!

Give it a few days , kind of bump
  21. Yup , I think I'll put this one to bed
  22. I know a few of the classic chords , and to be honest it is easier to 'play a song' on a guitar , though I can do the same on a piano , a bass is far more discretionary when it comes to accompaniment. though to make a bollocks of my argument, to 'play a song' might indicate a confidence in an ability to sing it
  23. Ah , but there we have the crux of the infinite chase of tone
  24. Errrrr , no ...until the next dude finds you used a cheapo AF set and rounded the heads on every bolt on the motor , thus rendering further improvement a total PITA
