1. I do marks out of 10 as well but then I had to start using half marks to split them
2. Voted I could stick a pin in them to choose to be honest , great stuff , some incredibly professional sounding tracks in there , outstanding .
3.
............ just goes to show, you never can tell
C'est la vie , said the old folks
4. A great gig at the old kings head in Chester last night , they were dancing from the first number , we put 4 new ones in the set and they all went down a storm , I found a really good setup for the Zoom synth for dont stop believing and we got great compliments from the bar 2 more pub dates and 2 parties booked , result
5. I'm in , I have a lot on at the moment so it is a simple entry from me , I am sure it could have done with a bit more time on it but needs must as they say . https://soundcloud.com/lurksalot/town-hall-behind-town-hall-behind
6. That was some staging for the Russians , what a display , incredible !!
7. It is certainly moving along quicker this year , some decent toons aswell , really good doff of the cap to Sir Tell at tune 9 , I joined in the toast
8. Brilliant , very exciting stuff , especially as I am in there , 4 photos for inspiration next month then I am sure someone will come along and do the necessary
9.
Voted..... Exceptional entry from lurks this month. Great work. Skols nirvana collaboration is also worth a mention Great tracks all round but if there was a top vote then mine goes to Mr Lurksalot.....
Why thank you sir , you are most kind , and I am very pleased you enjoyed it
10. Voted , great stuff again and humbled to see I have picked up a few votes , many thanks all
11.
............... lol. I mean, people paid to watch man netball,....
I thought that was funny
12. OK I'm in , a bit rushed this month as I am in the middle of a new kitchen extension and I can only get music time when the sun goes down so here it is , it was supposed to be skate punk but it is what it is , I hope you enjoy https://soundcloud.com/lurksalot/downhill-fast
13. I am hoping for some inspiration tommorrow , the lad is popping round to give me a lift with some heavy stuff , but if he comes early enough he can grunt a vocal for me , lurksalittle likes the tune and the basics are laid down , but it properly needs a vocal. on a technical note , I have found a reverb that I like after 2 years of looking , probably because it sounds totally like I am listening to the sound in the room , even though I have my headphones on . this in itself probably says more about the acoustics of my room than it does about my ability to mix
14. that does look fantastic , I think just being the part must help to inspire, but I'm with Paul
That looks awesome! I'd love to record somewhere like that...unfortunately I require way too much cut, copy, paste and quantise before I even sound half competent.
Though being part of it would be superb
15.
Exactly what I do. A list, with the first note of each number before the title. Bandmates are baffled by this as they think I've wrongly written the key of the song. it works though - if we all start on the right note there's a fair chance the other notes will follow.
Great idea , the ones that used to get me were songs that ended on a different note like Pretty Woman for instance , I'd be playing through the song knowing it ended differently trying to remember what the bloody note was going to be
16. There appears to be a theme emerging with the genres being used , this is worrying me a touch as I was thinking along the same lines and it might leave my efforts a touch 'exposed'. Still , I have a couple of days to warm my voice up while HID is away , be afraid , very afraid
17. I'm pretty happy at the moment , I dont play that well , I dont sing at all well , I don't have a great knowledge of recording and I am not a particularly good songwriter .....But I play gigs in a half decent band and publish a song most months, most importantly, I love doing it , and that is all that matters .
18. That sounds fantastic and a great write up too.
19.
Presumably his Bach is worse than his Beethoven.
Especially if pronounced in your darn sarf cockerney accent , me old trout and toolbox
20.
What is wrong with saying the guy playing bass for you all night is called Tim?
Our bands bass player isn't called Tim , so it might not work for us
21.
I can envisage "woohoo" Blur type stuff, sad songs about the death of a dog, free jazz epics celebrating the randomness of snow drifts, struttin' disco grooves about "having a good time, all the time" (copyright Spinal Tap!), or acoustic ballads about being scared stupid!
On seeing that video my thoughts turned to the theme of your latest one , however , taking it a step further and sh****g ones self good and proper !
22. Well done Lenny dude , a great track , really enjoyable , well done to everyone else as well .
23. Many thanks Douglas , it's a bit like you were in my head with that synopsis !!
24.
If there was payment agreed, I'd be Demanding payment. They booked a band & never gave adequate notice. I'd email both the landlord & copy in the brewers. If they fob you off, then as a BC collective, we could book every weekend as different bands to cover the next several months & then give notice the day before to them that the band can't make it. See the boot on the other foot.
Or order a humongous round of drinks and quietly walk out
25. Great gig last night in Buckley there were a bunch of girls dancing on the tables from the first song, it was a real party. As a bonus I collected about 30 empty bottles which is enough to sort out my next batch of homebrew
