Well , having played my tune to the bands warbler, he said he would be happy to do a vocal for me , though it does mean I ought to treat the lyric with a little more respect now , I can probably add a little more gravitas if a proper singist does it, rather than the pisstake that I would normally write to distract the ear from my tonal mugging

well after some noodling this afternoon , I have made a good start , the basic track is recorded , rough mixed and ready for the vocal , I am trying to secure the service of the bands warbler for this , Lurksalittle has had a stab , but it needs a bit of learning so I dont want to push her on this one. If it has to be me , it will be, and the glitter will have to make an appearance to roll the whole thing in .

I have a customer who runs the Airbus overseas repairs department , apparently this sort of thing happens quite a lot, vehicles driving into planes, plane wings clipping thing they shouldn't , they actually have permanent departments in some of the bigger airports around the world because it is so common !

We had a good night last night, a 50th party which we offered at a discount as rhythm guitar broke his wrist and when we booked it wasnt sure if he would be able to play it. Lead guitar has stepped up for a few gigs and we have coped but the sound is not quite the same. As it happens , rhythm guitar was back in action , but lead didn't exactly give him the (sonic) room I was hoping he would, as he has got the taste of playing a few more chords than he used to ! Still, the party went well , everyone was happy and to cap it off the bloke who booked us gave us the full fee even though we didnt ask him for it , so Result all round

I am really slow this month , I have had an odd start to this month and I have started a new build kitchen extension , so finding a couple of hours for inspiration has not proved enough , I normally faff around on the piano and guitars until something clicks , but nothing yet , never say never though

We played a regular haunt for us and were a bit surprised when we got there to find only the bar staff there on Saturday, they informed us that the night before had seen a bit of a brawl with a round 20 youngsters kicking off big time and that they suspected that many of the locals would be giving the place a miss for a while. Having been assured the gig was still a payer and that if it was just for the bar staff they would love it, we set up. the first people to come in were the wife and the sister in law at 9.15 , and then a few more and by 9.30 we had around 30 turn up , mostly regulars who new we were on. Any way , we had a party , we were all on fire and played well , had some great craic with those that turned up and everyone went home happy , even the landlord, though he couldn't have covered our cost , he was happy to not have had a completely empty pub!

When I was 15 I had a bet with a mate at school for a tenner that I would play Knebworth before I turned 50 , we met up a couple of years ago and are now playing double or quits up to my 60th , with a side bet on him getting an exhibition at the Tate , so I ain't giving up yet

Ah yes , but if you start spilling the beans about which reverb you used on the bagpipes and banjos , you can imagine how crestfallen I would be when my own piece was also about to be a bagpipe and banjofest , and you would do it a million times better , so I would have to completely rethink my ideas especially if Dad is colouring me into a hippy at the same time

My thoughts would be that I wouldn't want to read anybody elses inspiration and ideas before I had been having a good go at my own , the likes of Douglas have a completed product before I have got my idea together , and I wouldn't want to be have any of my thoughts coloured IYSWIM . that sounds terribly precious but its not meant to be

Great idea Dad , I am not sure which way to go on this , but maybe on the challenge thread would be best , and without any real rules but maybe post during the voting period and put another link to the composition in the 'process' posting for ease of access ?

I got up early to give them all a good listening , and I am again astonished at the quality of the entries , the compositions themselves are all brilliant , I have been forced to set up a scoring system, as a general appreciation of how much I like them just doesn't provide enough differentiation , the production on many is outstanding, and while I don't include a score for that , it certainly sets more levels to aspire to . ed to add Ive voted , a great way to start a sunday , brilliant

It depends on how much and how quick you want to proceed , the keyboard is for MIDI work , the monitors are ok , but not necessarily essential. If it is instruments and singing ( maybe virtual drum samples) then the 2i2 is a great little bit of kit and you will need a mic or two. A MIDI keyboard will be great for virtual plug in instruments , pianos , synths and orchestra parts , but you will need to get these aswell , some are free loads can be bought . If you are wanting to dive in and do the lot then the bundle is probably decent value. My own route was to start very basically with the interface and a mic , then added the MIDI and finally the monitors , but even then my room is not really sound treated to make the best use of the monitors , so its mainly headphones .

A great gig in the Olde Kings Head in Chester. Our Rhythm guitar broke his wrist in January so we were light handed , lead guitar played a blinder covering and I found a few patches to stomp on for his solos to fill out a bit more. By all counts it was a really good night , Rhythm guitar fronts the band so he still did, but had had a few beers unlike when he plays and his banter was fantastic, 2 more dates back there and 2 parties booked on the night, I didnt overly cock too much up, so a result all round.

A guy once told me, that if someone tells you that they know best about something because they have been experienced in it for 50 years, the chances are that it was one years experience that is 50 years old.
