1.
Do you mean something like this? http://www.thomann.de/gb/stairville_led_foot_8_dmx.htm
The reviews for that seem very poor
2. Is it actually available yet , I am not sure that they have it on sale anywhere , even the you tube clips don't actually show it working , they say that it does loads , normally when they bother with a you tube they do a demonstration !
3. If you are actually trying to get a feel for an instrument or listen intently to a new one , then I find that it saps the talent straight away , I am probably expecting too much from my simple head . Similarly with the bands sound check , they all want to try fancy pieces to show off , but as I am out front listening , I want to play E , so , roadhouse Blues it is , without any chord changes !! I would often fluff the first song aswell as I would be trying to listen to the mix , but I am past that now , I just fluff it up cos I'm crap
4. For me , a 'go to ' flood , and a 'go to' blackout , is what I use most , everything after that is done on a whim , some songs played on sound to light , some on fades and chases , I would like the ability to go from a fade chase to a strobed type chase then come straight back to the previous fade , for a solo or a specific effect . I may well be asking for too much as I can quite close already
5. Wow , that seems a bit complex !! I would say 4 press buttons Flood , Blackout Program up , Program down Then the light chases, sound to light , or timed , can be selected from the program list when needed , To be honest the Ryger does a lot of that and a bit more , BUT, once you have changed to the next sequence , you have to go through 9 more to get back to the first one as it only changes sequence upwards . It sounds like a great idea though, good luck with it
6. I really don't know all the spec numbers , but I guess the more complicated you intend the process the better laptop needs to be , I started on a knackered old laptop that jumped around s bit , but it got me started , SWMBO bought the last PC and it gas a lot of numbers , but I don't know what they all mean !!
7.
i will if i can find some free samples and loops somewhere
That's what I am looking for , especially for 'tigers called Jesus running on water' ones
8.
My cans have an adjustment knob. I'm really surprised there are no decent programmable foot controllers out there. I keep toying with the idea of building one.
It amazed me too , the Ryger does a great job though, but lacks the programmability , though it does have lots of options to create a show on the fly , so I like it , my previous method was a remote control linking lights as slaves and running the master on a fade program , flooding and blackout on a hand held remote. Again, it worked ok but lacks the controllability , but the sound to light was far to sensitive even using the adjustments allowable , unless we are just too loud !!
9. In respect to the Ryger though Dad , it is pre-programmed, so if you want the lights to do what the programme tells them to do , they all have to be talking the same language ,
10. I have found the sound to light on the cans I have is next to useless , it's far to sensitive , I have recently bought a Ryger foot controller and daisy chain the lights to it , it is brilliant , you do need all the lights to talk the same Dmx language to make it run properly ie all he same make , as manufacturers often use different channels for different commands
11.
They had a damned good drummer. That's not even in the ratings.
Have you got long legs and a black dress I would ask the question of Discreet , but I reckon we could guess the answer to that one
12. I haven't checked the reaper statuses but I am a bit of a wuss when it come to messing around with software that currently seems to work fine , I just know it will break on me , or throw a spanner that takes 2 weeks to sort out , and me, I am an optimist
13. The original old spice ads for me as well , but I didn't recognise the lady from them
14.
Well, that's me stuck. Every time I look at the pic I get "digadigadigadiga BAMP digadigadiga BAMP BAA BAMP digadigadiga BAMP BAA BARRR"
Hmmmm, that sounds like an homage to a vintage JCB in a folk stylee , but I'll Iet you run with that one , I am getting more 'Old Spice meets chariots of fire ' kind of vibe , but quite how the tiger fits in has me stuck
15. we played a pub in Chester tonight and we smashed it , it was incredible , what a night , it was bouncing from start to finish , and rhythm guitar was on fire, both his playing and witty banter had everyone with us from the off . we brought loads of people both friends and a couple of dozen people from a pub 5 miles away that we often play , that venue would have been a bit quiet tonight our sound was spot on, and a friend mentioned that there were loads of people who walked into the pub and were very offish that a band was on , and before they even got to the bar they were waiving their arms and bouncing with everyone else Singist had been doing some number crunching and had worked out that we were on gig number 100 , so we partied it , what a blast , here's to the next 100
16.
We played the Frog and Parrot in Sheffield as part of Tramlines... Went OK, apart from having only 15 minutes changeover between bands, which meant no soundcheck and limited space meant I couldn't bring my own amp with rack compressor and pre. So as soon as I went to distorted wah for one song there was enormous feedback with no time to reprogramme my FX pedals for less gain. However, as one punter said "I don't know what it is, but I f*8%£$* love it!" We dressed as clergy:
Quality , you still have it in spades dude
17. Soundchecking is a big plus . also you can get out front and do some moshing with the air guitarists , only you have a real one . last weeks gig was at a truck MOT garage next door to the guys house , when we said to get the air guitars out he went next door and got an old bass out , when some dude was throwing some shapes with it , I got him to come on stage to do it ...and I cleared off . so I was behind the audience playing and he was acting it out , it was hilarious half the crowd were so confused but totally running with it !!
18. Ah yes young man , age related confusion can hit when you least expect it , I reckon it was the bear and billet , that was always more of a dive , mind you in the days of my youth Bridge street was the centre of drinkage , from the saddle , Eagle , Clavvies , olde kings head , cross keys, bear and billet, then over the bridge for a late drink ........well last orders at 11.00 , an extra half hour in Handbridge , then queue at King kab for an hour , nostalgia isn't what it used to be !
19. Many thanks Douglas , brilliantly observed and really appreciated
20. We had a brilliant night last night , a 50th party in a lorry repair workshop , the front roller doors were open and the workshop provided the stage area and the dance floor , Tarpaulins were hung from the roof around the perimeter and hid all the shelves, tools , spares and general crap and a marquee was on the parking area in front of the building. The green room was in the garage attached, with the fork lifts, recovery truck and MOT ramps , not that we needed our own space as we were made very welcome in the party and boy did they party , it was superb , a great night all around.
21. In case any of the local BCers were interested in some 'radio 2' style rock , the Razors are at the Olde Kings Head in Lower Bridge Street on 1st August , all welcome, free entry
22. Well I thought I would have a quick blast through for a taster , and wow , I was hooked by all of them, I couldn't flick through any !! Real quality all the way, brilliant work by all involved , superb , choosing 3 will not be easy.
23. OK I'm in , I have to say a great picture , I had all sorts of lyrical ideas to go with it ,but lyrics take ages for me to record , so I plumped for a simple synth number to run with, the playing isn't up to much as it was a touch improvised . anyway I hope you enjoy https://soundcloud.com/lurksalot/the-long-way-down
24.
Why thank you! You may change your mind after having a listen! However, I've been fiddling with it (the "song", that is!) over breakfast and it's growing on me. But it could be similar to how over-exposure to violence on TV desensitises you...
desensitise is a great word , I think that accurately reflects the way my entries enjoy their cult status in my own mind
